  • Karumeyaki カルメ焼きor the Japanese Honeycomb Toffee is a traditional Sugar Candy also known to the world recently as the Dalgona Biscuit. This new episode is a wonderful tour of the Tale of Dalgona. The History of it. Where and when it all started and a look back on the tale of Dalgona.
    After the twin episode of Dalgona, the classic version, and the Caramel Dalgona with Chocolate Dalgona, We from Licks and Bites bring you here the story of Dalgona and introduce you to the actual dalgona or the カルメ焼き Karume yaki. Karumeyaki is the Japanese festive snack that every old folk in japan would have enjoyed as a kid.
    The Japanese call it カルメ焼き(karumeyaki) meaning the honeycomb toffee, the Britons call it Cinder Toffee, kiwis from Newzealand call it hokey pokey, the Scotts call it Puff candy, while it's called the seafoam in the United States and of course Dalgona in South Korea.
    We are trying to pull it off with the minimal ingredients and tools actually required to make this unique MELT IN YOUR MOUTH Japenese Honeycomb Toffee or the sugar candy.
    It's not the same as the Dan il Woo or the chowfat Dalgona coffee from South Korea, this is different from the #dalgonachallenge recipe.
    Traditionally brown sugar is mixed with water with sweet syrup or honey and put over a flame to burn off the excess water and it is then mixed with baking soda to expand to a full fluffy biscuit. We are using just 3 ingredients to create the same magic of Dalgona Biscuit, カルメ焼きthe Japanese Karumeyaki.
