“What’s a better album, Abbey Road…or Let it Be?” That’s one debate I never thought I’d hear. 😂

The Rolling Stone lists have been a joke for a long time. Sometimes I wonder if they are paid by labels to put certain albums higher than others.

You bring up a good point that there possibly can be other influences that might dictate the placement of certain albums.

There's been a lot of discussion about The Rolling Stones' Top 500 Albums of All Time list, especially following industry pressure to diversify the artists and genres included. Some argue that this shift has gone too far, favoring the accuracy of the original lists. It seems like a no-win situation for them.

I think these types of lists should be more subjective. When you try to take into account things like cultural significance or technical complexity (unless that is what you enjoy listening for), you end up making a compromised list that doesn't reflect what you actually like. You two should do a top 25 list or top 100 list, but just your personal favorite 25/100 albums. No need to stick "Rumors" or "Blue" on there if you don't want. If people like what you are into generally, they might find a few over looked gems on your lists. It would beat hearing how "Velvet Underground & Nico" has to be on the list because it inspired so many bands. (BTW, I really like that album, but not because it is culturally significant)

" Pet Sounds " is only up there because it was Kurt Loders favourite record. then everyone jumped on
    the bandwagon- praising it.
In my opinion " Exile On Main Street " is a drug fueled masterpiece. Deserves a high spot.

I listened to all 500 albums on the 2012 list as part of a challenge between my brother and I. I never considered it a definitive list of anything, but I did use it as a way to discover great albums and artists I may have never listened to before. I'm looking forward to doing an updated challenge to listen to the new entries!

These type of lists make for an interesting read and discussion point only. I find it hard to compare different genres of music and then compile “the greatest of them all” list.

Bob Dylan / Blood on the tracks is definitely deserves to be in the top 10 / a all-around complete Dyaln album. Goats Head soup better then Exile??....disagree with you on this one also. 😉🙃

I love both Guns and Roses and Radiohead, but hearing y’all say that Pablo & The Bends are Radiohead’s best album is both unsurprising and slightly disappointing lol 😂

Hell, even “Time out of mind” is better than Blood on the tracks in my opinion. The Bends has always been my favorite Radiohead album.

At least one of us knows who D’Angelo is (it’s not Ian’s type of music). I was just surprised to see Voodoo so high up the list.

@@TheVinylDen it’s a classic voodoo is definitely top 10 maybe not to you but it still has everything like a hit “untitled” but the grooves in here are the most soulful, deep poetic songs I’ve ever heard “the line, The Root, Feel Like Making Love, Devils Pie send it on Spanish joint, Greatdayndamornin litterally this album brought the soul movement back in the world
