    Apple M3 Series and Snapdragon X Elite ❤

  • @mannkeithc

    On the later Windows 11 arm releases you can also run x64 apps. I've run Ableton x64 on my Windows Dev Kit with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx gen3 arm processor and it runs fine. Some 3rd party plugins may have issues, but that can also be true for older Logic Pro plugins on Apple Silicon Macs. Windows x86 / x64 emulation is now on par with Apple's Rosette 2, but clearly Apple's M series processors offer more performance than Qualcomm's 8cx series. Qualcomm's new Snapdragon X elite should close the gap.

      The snapdracon x elite closes the cap to which apple silicon chip? there is a huge difference between the 1,2 and 3 series chips as well between base, pro, max and ultra series. So it would be interesting which one Qualcom targets with the Snapdragon x elite

      @@tech-techover I have either low or no expectations on PC gaming because generally they're best on x86 platforms which they are developed on. I'll not be surprised if they don't do well on ARM powered PCs.

    The 'cool' part is a big deal. I had a Asus zephyrus gaming laptop, and before that an x360 spectre, one with a Geforce 3060 and one with Intel G7 (Iris) graphics, and doing any kind of 3D work on them, you could boil an egg on the laptop itself, and forget about battery life. It'll be a nice future when laptops won't get this hot, even when doing heavy 3D operations.

So id assume that if Qualcom and co and also Microsoft are halfway serious about going with arm there should be enough software runnng effortless on windows too.

    The only reason x86 is still here is because of its compatibility with all programs on computers and for its raw power. Aside from that ARM nukes on x86.

  • @christianalbrecht2054
    @christianalbrecht2054 Год назад +3

    Conclusion at the end again: if you need high performance for video editing, gaming, etc., use x86.
    This means that the video contradicts itself between the beginning and the end.
    Mac's since the introduction of M1 chips are the best option for video editing and other high performance work.
    There is no x86 equivalent, nowhere.
    Gaming is for now the only x86 domain that’s left, but this will change.
    I love the competition, but most competitors do not have the value that apple products serve as an ecosystem.
    But I will love it to see how Microsoft and the Game publisher will try to sell the idea that all future games will mostly be served for ARM64 and all their customers need to buy new devices with less power, knowledge and ecosystem then apple.
    That will be the moment most will switch to apple anyways.
    Will be fun

    • @tech-techover
      @tech-techover  Год назад +1

      At the end i was referring to my window counterparts I'm sorry that did not come out clearly 😅. Because ARM on windows is not yet doing heavy duty stuff. But that might change in the future if apps are optimised to run on arm.

      The X Elite isn’t close to that…

    It was all ok until the first half part of this video. The second part manages to be wrong on almost everything.
    Gaming: Apple M series is running almost PERFECTLY several games trough Whisky + GPTK, and the performance compares to a 3060 (based on my benchmarks). x86 is still better at this, but not by a long mark.
    Editing: Ask anyone if they prefer a Macbook M series or a x86 laptop to photo/video edit. The efficiency/responsiveness is off the charts.
    Coding: You just fumbled the ball HARD on this, the majority of developers are using ARM to develop x86 apps, because the compiling time is blazingly fast. Yeah, shocker.
