What a good start with Ray Charles' I Can't Stop Loving You, since that was my favorite song of 1962. Both hubby and self born in 1954 and recall many 1962 songs well.
I was 10 years old in 1962. I remember ALL these Great Songs thanks to 93 KHJ and 1110 KRLA in Los Angeles!!! ❤ My first celebrity crush was Shelley Fabares. Who didn’t love Johnny Angel. I read the Producers threatened to axe her from the Show if she didn’t do the Song. 😮 Glad she did…but that was really mean! 😢
The first 45RPM record I ever bought for me was Elvis and 'Return To Sender'. When I went off to buy it my older sister asked if I'd also buy "Big Girls don't Cry" by the Four Seasons. So there it is in 1962 I was 12 years old and they were the very first records I ever bought.
I was a young child when these came out. All great songs. The only critique I have is the need to bash new music after every clip. It's true that a lot of stuff you hear on the radio is over-produced, auto-tuned and formulaic. That said there are plenty of talented bands and singers out there. You have to dig a little deeper.
I remember back then when my mother used to play Ray Charles' "I can't Stop Loving You" literally over and over all day while cleaning around the house.
What a shame that you rushed a few bars of Mashed Potatoes by Dee Dee Sharp. I was one the best dance phases from the 60s and we all danced to it. Too bad we didnt get to see more!!!!!
How true it is that many caught lightning in a bottle. There's no room for "happy accidents" anymore. Everything is "written", "produced", and tinkered with for maximum return now, even if they overthink most of it and it returns nothing. And "Love Me Do" wasn't a #1 until 1964 - Ringo DID play drums on the original 45 take, the stereo take with a tambourine was the one Ringo didn't play drums on.
I remembered when my father complained they don't make quality music when I was young. He complained that the new music then was badly made and lacking in longevity, not getting any bother. And I'm a boomer.
Great classic tunes , however the constant comparisons to today’s junk on every song gets a little boring , yeah we get it, don’t need it hammered in on every song.
Correct! Shelley was the niece of actress Nanette Fabray, who changed the spelling of her name because she was tired of hearing it mispronounced. And despite the double “n,” Bruce Channel’s last name is pronounced with the stress on the second syllable, as in “Coco Chanel” and “Chanel No. 5,” not on the first syllable, as in “RUclips channel” or “the English Channel.” And the “Ch” is pronounced “sh,” as in “Champagne.” Both names that were mispronounced in the video-Fabares and Channel-are French. Is that a coincidence?
What is the story of Sherry by the Four Season? I see you posted the album and quickly went to an Elvis Presley song? Was there an issue with the song, I love that song!!
"Love Me Do" didn't even make it to #1 in the UK during its initial release. As a matter of fact, initially it peaked at #14. (Stateside it barely made it into the Hot 100.) It didn't make the Top Ten here in the States until it was reissued in 1964. By the way, Shelley Fabares' last name is pronounced "Fab-a-ray". Her aunt was entertainer Nanette Fabray, and today Shelley is married to actor Mike Farrell (BJ Hunnicutt on M*A*S*H).
Sweet little Sheila by Tommy Roe, I married my Little Sheila and were very happy till the Navy took me over seas then she decided the pizza delivery guy was younger kid I got dumped over the side !
Enough about the whine "overproduced corporate" music. People have been complaining about current music probably since Bach and Bethoveen . Get over yourself.
I was born in 1958 and I remember my mom singing Duke of Earl. It always made us laugh.
Gets a lot of play on my Spotify.
Still a regular on my playlist.
I’ve always liked that song…

I was eight years old in 1962. I remember them all well. Thanks.
What A Bunch Of Classics Wow😀😃😃😃😃😃
AHHH.... the memories are priceless!!!
That thing about Little Eva being Carol King's babysitter is cool as hell, and something I never heard before.
"Johnny Angel" HUGE crush on Shelly then, still have one for her! She lit up my emerging love for music,
I remember her singing it standing on the porch of the house in the Donna Reed show. Memories.

1st time I played a record in a diner with individual jukebox at each table, played Big Girls Don’t Cry.

Great classics
Shelley Fabare your pronouncing is terrible
Although I share the sentiment, to trash today’s music with EVERY song cited, is uglifying what would otherwise have been a solid video

Loved Connie Francis and "Don't Break Tne Heart That Loves You' was great.

1956 here! I enjoyed all of these songs! You keep dissing on today's music but let's not forget Taylor Swift and Beyonce! 😊
Return to sender was before zip codes. The line "no such number, no such ZONE". Zone designated which post office within a city the letter went to.

Shelly was also the late Annette Funicello's best friend for many, many years.
Mike did a great job as BJ. Him and Alan Alda were fantastic.
Thanks for this upload. Facts are very interesting. The editorials are unnecessary.
Sweet little Sheila by Tommy Roe, I married my Little Sheila and were very happy till the Navy took me over seas then she decided the pizza delivery guy was younger kid I got dumped over the side !
Shelly Fabares pronounced (Fab-ray)
What happened to Hang On Sloopy?
negative vibes!!!
It's Bruce "Shanell" and Shelly "Fabray."
Love Connie Francis
Hey baby and do the locomotio.of course return to sender
Clickbait bullshit. Nothing but talk, little or no music!
It would be nice if you learned how to pronounce the artists names
I was born in early '63 so these would have been baby making music with me in mind for my mom and dad. Ewww!
BIG GIRLS DON’T CRY was not do wop
Hate the AI audio that always, ALWAYS, screws up names.
I was a kid when these songs were popular and I enjoyed them all but your chronic put down of today’s music is tiring. Give it up
