    According to some theories, colliding universes could lead to cosmic inflation, causing a rapid expansion of the universe.

    if the properties of physics in other 'bubbles' can be different then what stops a bubble with a higher light speed communicating with us?

    ....in the light cone, assuming one single line within 45 deg. tilt constitute an infinite space within that time measure... what about other line, does those constitute a separate infinite space in a different time? By the way fascinating talk...

    Did I miss it? What is "that"(physical entity, space, whatever) where the universe is expanding into? In other terms, in"what" our universe is expanding into?
    @13:40 this gentleman says that all galaxies move away from each other. Now that is not true when we compare our galaxy and Andromeda galaxy which appear to approach each other. Now this is the first exception to the rule, and perhaps the phenomenon is not unique in the universe.@22:35 Dr. Anthony Aguirre says "turn the clock back" Is the clock measuring time ? But do we have a definition of time? Does Eistein anywhere in his work defines what time and space is?

    • @serbanmike
      @serbanmike 9 лет назад

      ***** Makes sense.
      But the gravitational bound are all the objects within a galaxy and the galaxies themselves.
      Should we see all galaxies converging towards the same point?

    • @serbanmike
      @serbanmike 9 лет назад

      ***** Thanks. What creates the space between galaxies?

    • @serbanmike
      @serbanmike 9 лет назад

      ***** Don't even laugh !
      I am reading /listening to Prof. L. Susskind and Prof. A Guth, Prof. L Krauss, Prof, Greene, Prof. Bailyn and I did not find a good definition of space given by them.
      Prof. Susskind assumes that space "exists" and does not even bother to mention it as preexistent. Prof. Guth says that the matter just "appears" on some kind of minute "patch" which keeps growing. Prof. Krauss has some other ideas, he mention the creation of the Universe out of "nothing".
      I am very saddened by this state of affairs. Do you believe that because these are free lectures they would not divulge the real secret of the Universe?
      Now I am going into my corner and I am going to start crying until I am going to stop.
      Thank you for your insight.

      serbanmike The universe is not expanding "into" anything, all space is in the universe itself, it is defined by the matter that is in it. The space between galaxy clusters is expanding, but there is no outside boundary to this collection of galaxies, no galaxies that are closer to the "outside" than to the "inside"-- they are all in the center of the universe from their own point of view. If you traveled in a straight line forever you would not exit the universe, you would just find yourself heading back toward where you came from.

    what if these "bubbles" were not dispersed spacially, like in all those diagrams, but also overlapping or even co exist in the same spots, producing effects in each others spheres/continua? i.e. certain questions, like dark matter, vacuum energy. ? I am sure this has already been considered, but i am not a scientist. still thought i might ask the community.

    • @stricky3339

      Although in the past I dismissed alternate universes and totally don't follow the multiverse theory due to my learning in string theory, it turns out for string theory to be correct we do get pocket universes popping up, although we would never see or interfere with these other universes the proof won't be found by experiment. However, using the light cones on a space time graph as an example each of these pocket universes would be created in a way that these light cones would never cross so if the theory is correct it's possibly happening, I've not watched the lecture yet, so not sure if I'm repeating what's been said, lol, if no, hope you get a clearer picture of what I think you ask

    • @stricky3339
      @stricky3339 10 лет назад

      The question of these pocket universes overlapping may only arise if energy or particles of some kind were moving through dimensions as obviously for anything larger this is impossible, so it's really a non subject at the moment, in all descriptions I have seen of these pocket universes on not one occasion has there been the slightest( I'm talking planck small)chance of an overlap of these universes...

      +Craig Strickland There are teams looking for evidence in the polarization of distant light for gravitational waves and the possbility of evidence of universes colliding with ours (perhaps in the distant past). Have a look at Alan Guth's talks.

    I wonder since they say that inner space looks a lot like outer space,that our infinite universe is an illusion ,and we are just subatomic particles inside some kind of inner space .Which means our reality is just a region inside some kind of energy field which could be observed through somebody else's microscope,or something's.i know it's probably a crazy idea but what the hell.

    • @TheGodlessGuitarist
      @TheGodlessGuitarist 9 лет назад

      +Kenneth Jones no one really knows what our ultimate reality is, though plenty seem to think they do, but one of the most fun parts of being human is looking for clues and seeing where they take us.

      While there are some problems and anomalies, the accurate predictions of the theory far outweigh any of the contradictions. The theory just needs revision based on new evidence, like any theory.
