  • Royal Caribbean Roatan Honduras Excursion - Mayan Eden Eco Park
We were recently on Oasis of the Seas and visited Mayan Eden Eco Park in Roatan, Honduras. This was a Royal Caribbean excursion. We met the tour bus by the port and they drove us about 15 minutes through town. The drive was great because the tour guide told us about the history of the town and the ways of the locals. We arrived on the opposite side of Mayan Eden Eco Park where we hiked across and over. The park was great! We saw monkeys, butterflies, sloths, and other cool animals. There are animals roaming free and the tour guides were fun and knowledgeable. It was very hot and humid but we enjoyed ourselves. Let us know if you have any questions about the excursion.
    Thanks for watching.

The monkeys climbing all over you was definitely the best part!

Loved the video. Thanks. Are the sloths kept in cages or free like most of the monkeys? Did you see any iguanas?
We are thinking to visit here next January.

There are two sloths at that park and they are kept away because they were both brought in carried by someone. They allow you to carry the sloth for a very short period of time and in a very specific way but they are adorable. I don't recall seeing iguanas but my brother said he did. The monkeys and birds are roaming free around the park. The monkeys sometimes jump on your shoulder at random occasions. We had a nice time. It was extremely hot but we are from Florida so nothing new. We recommend the experience. The park guides were also very nice.

Thanks for all the information. I am trying to decide whether to go here or Gumbalimba. Gumbalimba has a pool & a beach but no sloths!
We are from southern Turkey so are also used to hot & humid in the summer months.

@@denisekucukdogerli4522 I just looked at Gumbalimba and it looks very nice! Mayan Edo did not have a pool or beach. It does not appear to be as large as Gumbalimba Park either. I would not go to the excursion we went just for the sloths. The encounter is great but it is very short and then they hand the sloth to the next person. I am sure you will have fun either way!

How long was the hike through the rainforest and was it easy?

It wasn't too long. It was a total of about 15 to 20 minutes. You definitely need sneakers and you will do a little bit of climbing of stairs. We thought it was fairly easy.

Can you skip the suspension bridges? I was nervous just watching you 😆

It was a little nerve-wrecking. I do believe you can skip it. The area that it leads to also connects to the exit of the park. We took the suspension bridge to the sloth area and continued along the path to the exit. You should be able to.

Are there bathrooms throughout? I have small kids.

They have bathrooms in the entrance of the park where the your guide stops and allows people to use the restroom and buy water or Gatorade. There is another bathroom by the butterfly building.
