As someone who has been recording and mixing music for almost 10 years I wish I had access to content like this when I first started. The world of audio production can be incredibly confusing but this was such a great straight forward step by step layout of the entire process. Awesome work!
Your equalization sweeps alone were more groundbreaking to watch than any youtube vid I've seen. Compressor lesson was wicked, and setting my template up has never been this organized. Incredible tutorial
Did anyone else fall in love with this song and wan't to hear the entire thing by the time this class was over? yes, I said CLASS!! This was not a RUclips tutorial this was a free and VERY WELL put together class. THANK YOU!!!
Not even a second of this video was skippable. So much valuable information in every minute. Truly incredible-- no tiring outro or anything like that. And you actually have headers for each section of the video too! Wow, this is such a gem.
Watching this while mixing is awesome, teaches me to establish a step by step workflow and motivates me not to drop the project, but to finish it. Thanks
This is the best music production tutorial I've ever seen. Finished my first track a couple of weeks ago, but I just couldn't mix it properly. Instead of just giving us a list of steps to follow, you demonstrated a very professional workflow. That's what I liked the most. You helped me organize my mix better, and now I know what goes first. Can't thank you enough.
I've been frustrated for a long period but when you made this video it felt like a whole new world has opened up for me. I have not tried many of your tips yet but I will step by step. Thanks so much!
I've watched so many videos claiming to have "all the secrets" to mixing when THIS is what I was looking for all along! Thank you for breaking it down and making it all make sense!
I've been in studios working since the 80s... And I must say this video really explains so many crucial things when mixing. I really will recommend anyone seeing this...even old goats like myself just to remind and expand from old habits by thinking basics more. It's really a never ending learning when it comes to mixing. I learn everyday and I've been mixing producing aso for ages. Great video !! Well done !! / Michael db Producer / mixer Sweden
ive been mixing for 5 years and I wish this was the first thing I ever watched. Amazing how well he taught and how clear you explained these topics tools & ideas
This video is indeed awesome. And I’m not even so the way through. But re the gain staging - I’m guessing normalizing wouldn’t achieve this otherwise you’d have done that. But can you explain why this is better than normalizing?
@GreediPhresh The way in the video is great, I usually use a fader to lower all the tracks first by 10DB directly to prevent my stereo out track from turning orange. Then I start balancing. This is my way I don't know if it is correct.
Just a casual comment to say of all the "masterclasses" I've seen online, where some kid is showing you how to mix EDM music only... this is the most cohesive and no-nonsense tutorial on RUclips about mixing. Great job.
Hello, i am so pleased with this video, i have watched many videos on mixing, and most specifically the plugins, but this one is super good. very unselfishly elaborated and explained. everything is now clear to me and with this video, i know how to start mixing, points to take note of, and so on. man, what i can say, God bless you so much. a fantastic video.
ive been mixing for 5 years and I wish this was the first thing I ever watched. Amazing how well he taught and how clear you explained these topics tools & ideas
Halfway in and I just wanted to take a minute to thank you because you really have no idea how much I've learned in just a little over 50 minutes. Mindblowing. Excellent quality content. Keep it up, bro.
Great video! I’ve been playing keys for 35 years and performing live, but only recently got into film and TV stuff. Creating realistic mock ups has been a challenge. This is very helpful. Thank you.
oh man... You don't really know how great and impactful has been this training for me... I'm in debt and be back to donate. Thank you for spending such a valuable time here. Best channel by far.
Thank you so much! This is truly very informative. I’ll be returning to this video as I mix my first songs in Logic this week. The biggest take away though, is learning that “Loo-oove don’t come easy...” 😆💚
Basically this is the best video I have ever watched on the mixing process...and I watch everything that is out there. The breadth of knowledge you covered is what I feel was missing in other people’s videos, although I have seen a few other pretty good vids... still this is the best one. Cheers from Sacramento to across the pond : )
Just starting playing with mixing after being in bands for years. This is so handy even just for people wanting to know how to record themselves better. Great work
so im currently studying music production in England and i need to mix multiple tracks this year:D thanks for an amazing video!!! super helpful and well put together
you are a life saver and i will likely comment on this video again because i'm only abut halfway through mixing for the first time and you have given me peace, confidence, and clarity. thank you so much.
I'm currently halfway through the video, had to stop and make a comment. This tutorial is so impressive - you speak clearly and knowledgeably about everything. Thanks so much for the help!
I started doing sound in the late 60's. I had my own studios thru the 70's and then decided to go into live sound. In the late 90's I started recording live shows with Digital Performer and then switched to ProTools in 2002. Did mostly live until I retired in 2019. I am now helping younger friends record using Logic. Thanks from an old guy for all the short-cuts and all. I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but, while this is about mixing, remember good tracking practices. Can't polish a turd. Cheers.
This was such a great video. Thank you for being so thorough in this tutorial. I’ve been using logic for a while and I learned quite a few new things watching this. I loved your tip on setting up the pre gain to level out the tracks.
Thank you so so much! Very comprehensive and covers all the things that I need (as an absolute beginner) so that I can watch other videos for more info. I am currently making one-man-band videos/songs and I'm not really pop/rock focussed. Any recommendations on mixing for this type of music would be really appreciated!
that is sooooo well explained, best tutorial on youtube ever, thank you very very much!!! and for real panning, you can use in "imaging" the direction mixer
Extraordinarily helpful ...thank you so much for this clearly and patiently presented tutorial I am a lorry driver, who has repressed creativity and melody all my life to favour earning a mundane living on the hamster wheel Now teaching myself skills and modern tools to develop, express and produce my ideas... tutorials like yours are a huge help Thank you
Wonderful presentation and very comprehensive. By far an excellent tutorial which will vastly improve my mix, as a newie to Logic Pro X. Absoultely clear instructions and great examples use for demonstration.
Subscribed off of this video alone. I've been recording as an artist and engineering my own music for 15+ years; and I still learned so much in this video. Thanks!
Hey! Do you have a video on how to go from mixing to mastering? Also what does the Sub Mix exactly do? I just notice that there are some plug ins that you use for the sub mix that are also used for mastering. Help! haha
im a little confused on when you mentioned gain staging in the very beginning, you said the sweet spot is -18 but most tracks were going well over -18 once you actually started gain staging? im sure im missing something but if you could elaborate what that means then i would appreciate it, thanks!
The sweet spot is -18db to -6db. (bouncing in between) Aim to make sure nothing goes over -6db before the final mixdown, that gives you headroom to boost if you need to, without clipping. I literally just learned this in School For Audio Production.
Thanks for an awesome Video!! Just one question, Where can I found that song you mixing. Have you been sharing it on any platform? like Spotify? Best Regards
I think this is the most helpful video that I've seen. Before I realized it, I was through the whole thing. There are so many things that I learned and tools that I've never used .Great Job ! Thank You. I subscribed.
I was wondering how you import a reference track to your project and how you use that when mixing? I noticed you created an Aux channel for this in the video.
That was an audio track. You import the audio you plan to use as a reference to the reference track and solo back and forth between the reference and your mix
Here's the latest version of the Logic Pro X Cheat Sheet: mastering.com/logic-pro-x-cheat-sheet?el=youtubeorganic
I can’t believe I just had access to this kind of content for free.
Thank you very much for that, mate.
Yeah this would've been a fortune back in the day! Kinda nuts that you can sit and watch it for free now.
Indeed! Thank you!
It's pretty crazy what you can master from your bedroom nowadays
@@MusicMatters_SC I’m about to watch the entire video and take notes lol 💪🏽 it’s a 2 year old video but it should help
Seriously!
Literally walking around my house randomly singing:
*YOU MADE A BAD MAN OUTTA ME, AND I CAN HARDLY BREATHE* 🤣🔥
NOW LO-OVE DONT COME EASYYY
Same but I'm singing Batman
EDIT: I see someone already made the same joke in the comments
Ive watched this enough times where that line is now etched into my soul lmao
As someone who has been recording and mixing music for almost 10 years I wish I had access to content like this when I first started. The world of audio production can be incredibly confusing but this was such a great straight forward step by step layout of the entire process. Awesome work!

Really awsome 🏁🖤🔊
Completely agreed
Can you mix my song for me it has 8 stems
I literally got up my chair once the class was done and gave you a standing ovation. It was just that perfect. Thank you.
Your equalization sweeps alone were more groundbreaking to watch than any youtube vid I've seen. Compressor lesson was wicked, and setting my template up has never been this organized. Incredible tutorial
Glad we could help!
Probably the most comprehensive video I have ever seen on Logic. You are legitimately helping artists and producers everywhere! Good stuff!
THE most comprehensive 🇹🇹
Did anyone else fall in love with this song and wan't to hear the entire thing by the time this class was over? yes, I said CLASS!! This was not a RUclips tutorial this was a free and VERY WELL put together class. THANK YOU!!!
If I ever hear this song again it'll make a bad man outta ME, but I loved this class.
Not even a second of this video was skippable. So much valuable information in every minute. Truly incredible-- no tiring outro or anything like that. And you actually have headers for each section of the video too! Wow, this is such a gem.
watched the whole thing in one sitting, and took notes! THANK YOU for this valuable resource.
Happy to help!
I’m about to do the same thing
As did I. I was just going to watch the beginning and save the rest for later but watched the whole thing.
compressor explanation was fantastic!! thank you!!
My pleasure!
Mate you’re such a legend, had no idea how to even start mixing so this has saved my life :)
Happy to help!

Same here! It brought a kind of flat sounding recording I made to life.

One of the best videos I've ever seen on RUclips for logic ! Thank you for this knowledge. You do such a great job with explaining.
Easily a legit masterclass. No waste of time and complete value easy enough for beginners to advanced. Amen brother, thank you so much!
It's taking me a few days to thoroughly process all this information. Thanks a buttload!
The clarity of your mono mix is inspirational ... the guitar effects really pushed the vibe ... most comprehensive Logic tutorial ever ... thanks 🇹🇹
Thank you so much! This is truly very informative. I’ll be returning to this video as I mix my first songs in Logic this week. The biggest take away though, is learning that “Loo-oove don’t come easy...” 😆💚
Just started out recording at home and the beginning half of this video alone made my mix so much better! Thank you for all this info!
This is arguably the most helpful video I've ever watched on RUclips. Appreciate what you do and thanks for providing this amazing content!
amazing, i learnt more in the first few minutes than i did when i studied music production for nearly a whole year

YOU ARE THE REAL MVP. I'VE BEEN WAITING ON THIS!
This means so much for being so instructive THANK YOU!!!!
This tutorial is so helpful! The way you explain the compressor in particular is probably the best I've seen. Fantastic work!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for walking us through all the plugins, it was so straight to the point and helpful! Really recommend x
You gave the best explanation of using compression I’ve ever heard. Thanks.
This video is quite literally invaluable, thank you so much for taking the time and effort into making this!!
Glad to help!
No words can justify how properly you showed everyone here how it's done. Thanks a Lot 🎶
This was really helpful. "You made a bad man out of me...!" Thanks man. I've even subscribed to your course on Logic Pro X on Udemy. You are dope!

amazing!
Even though ive mixed for a year and learned alot, this video taught me more in depth how the plugins work!! Great tutorial❤️❤️

Woohoo!
im a little confused on when you mentioned gain staging in the very beginning, you said the sweet spot is -18 but most tracks were going well over -18 once you actually started gain staging? im sure im missing something but if you could elaborate what that means then i would appreciate it, thanks!
I’m confused as well on his explanation
The sweet spot is -18db to -6db. (bouncing in between) Aim to make sure nothing goes over -6db before the final mixdown, that gives you headroom to boost if you need to, without clipping. I literally just learned this in School For Audio Production.
best and most thorough compressor explanation I've even seen. thank you brotha :)
