Water in tap is safe but is murky as there are burst pipes underground. They do not use equipments to detect, but wait for it to burst out. So the pipes will cause water to become brownish, using filters we can see it. Most homes have water filters. We also use RO filters or reverse osmosis filters. There are many old pipes in malaysia. It cannot be changed overnight. New housing areas will have cleaner water. Old housing areas will have murky water. You cannot see it but with filters you can especially 5 micron or less.
Malaysians usually eat Indian rice which is considered premium or top class as they are healthy but not sticky. When a rice is sticky like japanese rice it means a lot of starch. Starch will turn to sugar and then diabetic attack comes. Rice from ponni, kashmir, basmathi, jasmine are favoured. Of course we hv glutinous rice to make sweet malay or Chinese cakes. Malays eat with their hands, imagine the messy sticky rice not going into the mouth. Like the Thai mango sticky rice or like Chinese dumplings called ba chang. I personally prefer Indian rice. The superior rice or premium rice.
I didn't know this information. Thank you for telling me. In East Asia such as Korea and Japan as well as China, we have been eating rice with a lot of stickiness since ancient time, so I'm not used to rice without this strach. I am not sating that this type of riclce is not good 😁
Thank you for the frank opinion. I will comment the disadvantages one by one; 1. Lack of direct flight - Yes. We used to have direct flights to/from Seoul and Tokyo before 1997 Asian financial crisis. The routes were served by Malaysia Airlines. The state government had been trying hard to lure any airline to fly to Kuching but to no avail. I hope it will change once the state government had successfully acquire Maswings from MAG. 2. The colour of our treated water - The problem is actually very recent. We rarely had that problem in the past. 3. Sidewalks - You could complain directly to the developer (Ibraco) and/or to the Kuching South City Council (MBKS). I guess you are staying at the Northbank. Our suburban are usually lack of proper sidewalks. Stray Dogs - That is a never-ending problem for us. You see, during the construction, some workers are locals from the rural areas and some of them brought dogs with them. But, when the construction had completed, they went back home without bringing back the dogs home. Not to mention, they didn't even neutered them. 4. Food variety - Very subjective and you are still new. But it is a matter of personal preference. In my case, I don't like kimchi because of the vinegar used and I would have an upset stomach after eating Korean food. And again, maybe I have limited choices of Korean food here in Kuching, therefore, once I have more exposure, my opinion might change. Fresh raw fish, try going to Buntal, Bako or Goebilt. These areas are in the northern part of Kuching. Beef, so far, Sarawak is a net importer of beef. We don't produce enough for local markets. No problem with chicken but I don't know much about pork. Half of Kuching population are Muslims (northern part), so pork is not that big here to some extent. About MSG, not a big fan myself. My food is usually less salty and less sweety. 5. Rice - If you use chopstick, stickier rice is preferable. But since majority of us use hand to eat rice, so, to most of us, sticky rice is a NO. But we do have sticky rice (beras pulut). If you ever try lemang, ketupat, pulut panggang, kuih seri muka or traditional Malay kuih, we use beras pulut to make those. Try going to Kubah Ria in Petra Jaya and buy one or two lemang betawi. 6. Delivery - It is due to the cabotage policy. Everything must go through KLIA or KLANG PORT before going to other part of the country and we have different postage rates namely West Malaysia and East Malaysia..... Trust me, I don't like it too. 7. Lack of theme parks - Sad but true, people rarely want to invest in East Malaysia and I don't want to elaborate more because it would very political in nature. But we do have a dead water park in Petra Jaya (closed during the pandemics). 8. Recycling - Yes. I agreed. Thing that we need to work on with. Please do check out car free morning/day twice a month. Check out Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) FB page for more info. Thank you again for your feedback and don't worry , we are open to any comments (both good and bad). FYI, I work 5-10 minutes away from your place but live 30 minutes away from your place. I live further north (further northeast to be exact). Cheers.
Malaysia only recycles 19% of waste. But we do send them from home to tzu chi recycling centres. Not sure if kuching has that. Tzu chi merit society or tzu chi foundation has recycling centres in peninsula.
Kuching is a small city. Kota kinabalu also is small. Larger cities have more crimes. Everywhere you go in this world, please be careful that is all. But malaysia does not follow usa, shooting stabbing everywhere. Gun law is very strict too. One indonesian illegal immigrant just released after 40 years. Because they like to carry guns into malaysia. Even that due to pardon from sultan of johor. It is life sentence usually. But our problem mainly is snatch thieves on motorbikes.

Hello
Thank you for watching my video and food inrmation. I hope that Kuching's recycling policybwill ne successfully established 🙏🏻
Kuching의 apt, condo
Roxy Tasik Biru, Siniawan Night Market, Paku Rock Maze Garden, Wind Cave & Fairy Cave.
Google
