Actor Johnny Depp is suing ex-wife Amber Heard for $50 million for defamation in connection with Heard’s 2018 Washington Post op-ed, in which she spoke out about being the victim of domestic violence. Heard’s article did not specifically name Depp as her alleged abuser, but according to Depp’s lawsuit, it relied “on the central premise that Ms. Heard was a domestic abuse victim and that Mr. Depp perpetrated domestic violence against her.” Amber Heard is counter-suing Depp for $100 million.
The defamation trial began Monday in Fairfax County Circuit Court in Virginia, with jury selection completing on the same day. Both lawyers have been doing that with every witness, that's the just the way a lot of trials go, ironing out the same topic to the point of exhaustion. Not to say the lawyer doesn't have an agenda

His sister is an absolute saint. The poor thing has to answer to this lawyer that can't even get who she is correctly, over and over again. Her words have been precise, clear and straight forward. I was worried for my brother."and "I was worried about his pain medication" over 20 times. smh. They keep trying to twist her words but she is so strong. So much love to her

It's hard to slip something when you are telling the truth, you can be asked 1001 questions and in 1001 ways the answers will be the same as long as it's the truth. Kudos to her for keeping her composure throughout this.
That made her look incredibly bias tho. Not admitting to even 1 negative thing even when it’s obvious (like the stop coke stop booze stop pills texts) was a bit ridiculous. Everyone knows Johnny did drugs and he will even testify to it himself so what does it matter if she admits she knows he did drugs? No, the reason is likely to be because most of the characters he plays are too alternative, and again, most are fictitious but all of the roles he plays are more an extension of his personality. Whether he stays on script or not etc. I don't know if we will ever know or understand because he really is a legendary actor, plays amazing roles in brilliant films and should absolutely have won many times over. Minamata should have been a mega oscar winner for him, the film, the works. I believe he takes parts that most wont take so that may also be another reason. Again, this is all speculation but any one or all of those reasons may indeed be the excuse that they use. I KNOW though that in the peoples choice and public Oscars he wins all of the categories, especially by creating our own categories, he wins them all. (Again all of this is my opinion but honestly please let me know if I'm right on this everyone 🤣😂)

I was just thinking how Amber's sister was cross-examinated. JD's attorney never did to her what mr. Rottenborn is doing to Christi, like keep circling around 'You are her sister, you would do anything for her wouldn't you? You love your sister, right? Your intrest is only Amber's well-being not Johnny's isn't that right?' No, I think they were pretty easy on her compared to this.

I'm just speculating here, but maybe the judge is actually biased towards Johnny and she keeps overcompensating to make sure that she's not too hard on Amber to show that bias. I guess there's no way to tell but it's clear one of us is right which means she needs to step down either way.

I worked with attorneys for years as well as my sister and mother. I know how these defense attorneys work. What they do is try to paint a picture of the plaintiff as something they are not by trapping any witnesses into their narrative. It's vile. I have ZERO respect for defense attorneys. They do it naturally because that's who they are in real life.

Exactly! It is illegal to park in a handicap spot reserved for those with disabilities and her team decided to take it and another spot. They can take the two seconds it takes to park a car. KD played into the downfall of his career. She was in waters too deep for her experience: career-wise not broad-enough; business acumen, experience & education lacking; reliance upon sibling for connections and assets; lack of diversification in dealing with talent and handling their PR properly.
Case in point: Streisand Effect.
That KD did not prevent this, would have gotten her fired from her industry position, regarding her role and duties, had the client been anyone other than her own brother.
35 minutes in, you can see how fed up Christi is of the constant trying to trip her up. Boy is she one smart lady and Johnny’s smile acknowledged that. I really hate how the defense are scraping the bottom of the barrel to try and find something to catch her out. I know they have a job to do, but really……have some ethics.

Throughout the questions from Heard's lawyer at times you can see JD angry and glaring at him. As a supportive brother and sister, knowing and seeing how hard this is for her must be tearing him up. She's a lovely lady, and strong.

That's the point. They are attempting to create holes in their narratives. Just watch, their entire defense will be based on trying to put doubt into the minds of the jury.
He’s trying to trip her up and if he does, he’ll highlight evidence or testimony contradicting previous statements. This will give the defence a reason for reasonable doubt (or something) to the jury.
Her lawyers are ambulance chasers. They know she's a liar. They don't care about the truth. They want the billable hours. I worked in family law for five years. Some lawyers have no ethics.
He's trying to get the truth out of her. She isn't being very forthright so he has to provide evidence for everything to prove it. Her testimony would have been way shorter if she just admitted things she obviously did not want to admit.

Christi Dembrowski was overall a great witness. She was calm and clear in her explanations. She also gave great facts about Johnny Depp and how Pirates of the Caribbean had an impact over his life. As for Rottenborn's uses of texts that are always taken out of context and which we don't know the full story behind them, it shows how he does not have a case against Johnny and how the only thing they can rely on are drugs and alcohol issues and texts.
Thank you Christi for your support of Johnny.

@@sofia-yk1gr Hearsay is when a lawyer asks a witness to recall a statement made by someone out of court which proves something in court. Both lawyers ask questions about conversations which took place with the witness, and both sides made objections as to hearsay. Whether the judge sustains (agrees with) or overrules the objection depends on whether the statement they are being questioned about came from someone who is not testifying, and whether it proves something relevant to the case. A good example of this is the last question from the defense "What if any concerns were expressed about Johnny's behavior when using alcohol?" Depp's lawyer objects to this question as hearsay. Even though it is phrased in a way simply to ask what people may have said to her about his behavior, the question's intent is to prove that Depp had behavior problems with alcohol based on statements made to the witness by people who are not testifying. The judge agrees that the question is intended to prove that Depp had behavior problems related to alcohol so she sustains the objection.
Watch Amber's behavior as she gets out of the car in the beginning. The way she stares coldly, forces a smile to seem likable, and immediately goes cold again. It's like she forgot about the act she was putting on and had to snap back into character again. She's a very calculated and manipulative person.

That's because she is being interviewed by Amber's attorneys on cross examination. Leading questions are allowed by opposing attorneys, because obviously they are trying to "catch" you. But the attorney of the person whom you are you testifying for is not allowed to tell you how to answer, hence they are not allowed to ask "leading" questions.

@@Jan88755 I am still partially through this video but in Part 1 its reasonable to not remember crucial context prior to texts and or remembering the texts at all if it was 8+ years ago. I find stuff I wrote 5+ years ago and I am surprised I even wrote it due to forgetting.
It is all possible that she doesn't recall at all. Last video all of it is very realistic to me as most of her questions dated Years ago in texts probably not expected to remember where as Johnny's lawyer asked about their childhood which is remembered because of Trauma.

Also not remembering context to texts are a thing. I've written texts that are in reply to voice, calls, ect because its a private thought I didn't want to share out loud as the person or myself is speaking. Sometimes the message being written's context is not shared through text dialogue.

Lawyers are allowed to lead on cross examination - they cannot lead in direct. This is Johnny’s witness and amber’s lawyer is cross examining her. The whole idea is the lawyers is “telling the story “ and just getting the witness to say “yes yes yes “ to each question. Very different to direct examination where it’s the witness that tells the story.
