Absolutely loved this. I'm really happy that you're kind of taking a backwards step to most other beauty/lifestyle RUclipsrs, in that you're conscious about what you buy, de-cluttering, keeping things minimal and trying to be a healthy, responsible human. Always loved your channel, always will.
Regarding avoiding excessive crying at your wedding, my personal approach was to use traditional wedding vows rather than write our own. My husband and I knew that if we wrote our own, we would have both been blubbering the whole time. Instead, we wrote private letters to each other and exchanged them on our wedding day. I still cried a little saying the standard vows, but managed to keep it together for the most part.
I admire you for doing this home alone (apart from seeing your parents), it might be easier doing it whilst Mark is at home. I'm definitely going to have a digital detox with my boyfriend on a saturday or sunday every now and again! Thanks for the inspiration!
Wasn't going to try the new Armani foundation, but now I need to! Please let us know how it's working out for you over the time! Really into the idea of digital detox periods, too! xx
Anna, with regards or your wedding day and not wanting to be overcome with tears - I used clary sage essential oil straight onto a pretty handkerchief (my gran's old lace one; something old/borrowed) for my wedding day. Just a few drops on a hanky and breath in the scent as and when needed. You could maybe get your mum or chief bridesmaid to carry the bottle for you in her bag - along with a compact & lipstick for touch ups. I also tried a few drops of Bach's Rescue Remedy just to settle my nerves a little. I find clary sage is very 'grounding' and restores equilibrium without making me feel zoned out. Enjoy your day xx
Hi Anna, maybe you can try the 8pm-8am rule when it comes to switching off from digital? I tend to switch off on holidays and at the weekends. I know what you mean about crying and not being able to keep your emotions in at your wedding, I was crying my eyes out at my husband's speech and when he started serenading me! You can try doing a first look with Mark to get the nerves and emotions before you're at the aisle together? X
YES! Absolutely loved this. Been considering a digital detox for a while now - but a cheeky Instagram/RUclips check here and there had always led me astray! Super inspired to give this a go and spend the day... EATING (even more), reading, drawing and relaxing!
Hi Anna, on your point of not crying too much at your wedding, something our vicar suggested (and she was right!) we decorated the church and rehearsed the wedding the evening before, she had us do our vows in front of the bridal and grooms party. Yes, we both cried a lot! The following day when we did it for real in front of all our family and friends we knew what to expect and didn't cry at all. This may not work for everyone, but saying the words out loud to each other the day before really helped us.
this was so great :) i love that you took your detox day to visit with family! it's clear that family is a big priority in your life and i so admire that!
First off, the 24hr digital detox is a great idea and I really enjoyed the video. Secondly, the foundation looks GORGEOUS on you. And lastly, YESS I would love to see a tour of your latest makeup bits!!!! I hope you can feel my enthusiasm hahaha love ya, Anna! xx
Loved this little vlog! Definitely inspired me to have a bit of a detox, maybe towards the end of term though when I'm not swamped in deadlines..... So lovely to just listen to you chat to us all day :)
Thoughts on wedding tears... my husband and I loved doing a private "reveal" moment with ourselves (and our photographer) before the ceremony. It was a great chance to really take in the emotions, cry and appreciate each other without everyone watching. It made the walk down the aisle so much more enjoyable because I could focus on my husband and how much I love him, not on my emotions, nerves and the fact that everyone was watching. Great video!
Hey Anna, regarding the fear that you'll sob through your vows- my mom told me to practice saying vows to each other starting way before the wedding. I did that with my now husband and it worked! I had gotten to the point where I knew I could do it without sobbing, so I got through it. I had to practice saying my vows out loud to my husband while looking at him several times before I knew I would be able to handle it at the ceremony, though.
good for you no social media and bringing back Scrabble! Would love to hear your wedding make up thoughts and wish u good luck with the fun / madness of wedding planning x
I always watch RUclips videos while putting on my makeup in the morning. Recently we went a whole week with no internet, and I literally didn't know what to do! Actually after a while I found I was getting ready a lot quicker without the distraction! It's definitely something we should do more often!
So inspiring, I've also been wanting to give a digital detox a chance but my problem is when to actually do it, and take the time, might try it someday soon💜
Loved this video Anna! In a world where we're surrounded by technology, it can be easy to forget how important it is to absorb the real world; making time for yourself and spending time with family and friends without distractions really is invaluable. This is certainly something I'm eager to try. I'd also love to see a beauty collection video!
My dad told me to think about something else that is totally unrelated to the wedding, like the tax return you haven't done, or all the work you have to do after the wedding, or what you want to cook for dinner later in the week. I know that sounds horrible - but it really worked for me! I was terrified of crying, but ended up crying outside the church, sorting myself out, and then the actual ceremony was fine. Good luck!
Hi Anna, I'm a massive wedding crier too and at my brother's wedding I just couldn't stop. I was very worried that the same thing would happen on my wedding day in the summer but when i got to the church I just didn't feel like crying! Everyone is just so happy to see you and you'll be so pleased to see them all too :) I had a little tear during the vows but apart from that I just felt too happy to cry! And you're also so focused on what you need to do and say next that I think you feel less like crying than when you're an observer. Good luck with all the planning :) Xxx
Hey Anna, I've been watching your videos for a long time now. Out of all the people I watch you've been the most inspiring about everything really:) And you're effortlessly funny as well. Keep up the good work;)
Great video. I think I will try the 6 hours at a time idea! Anna what type of plant called on your landing? Also would love the make up video dresser tour you mentioned xx
A possible reason for the sun damage could be the IT CC cream. It has a high SPF however, it has several types of citrus oils such as lemon, orange and lime which are phototoxic :( I was interested in it but when I looked at the ingredients list, the citrus ingredients totally turned me off. BTW I cried on 3 separate occasions at my wedding times haha. Some people may cringe at the thought of it, for me they were my true emotions and feelings so I didn't mind :)
Hi Anna! Love your videos! I wanted to pop in to shed some light on the whole bawling during your vows concern you're having :) I got married this past August and the SAME concern, big time. I'm such a crier, especially a happy crier, so I was super worried about this too! Like, more than most would worry about it. I'd literally choke up and shed a tear (or 7) when even just THINKING about the moment leading up to the day so I thought for sure I'd just lose it when the actual moment was happening. However. I am here to tell you that the moment that you're reading your vows to one another, particularly yours to your groom, it's a moment that you cannot understand until you experience it in the sense that it is the epitome of "surreal". I truly was SO in the moment and SO focussed on my groom and what we were experiencing that I did lose it for a quick few seconds but was able to reel it in very quickly. Bottom line is, do not fret over it! Coming from someone who was concerned about the very same thing / is at the same level of being such a happy crier: You won't lose it. You'll be in the moment. You'll be focussed on Mark. And it'll be t h e best moment of your life :)
I am loving this video. I miss having games night with my family since moving to the Bahamas a few years ago. Now I'm wondering if I could do a digital detox.
Thank you for doing this video! I love your videos and I'm actually doing about digital detoxing for my final major project at college so will be using this as my inspiration! Thank you xxx
Regarding the lack of background noise - I could never do it in complete silence. But then I have an normal radio and a vinyl player, so it would probably help. It's a cool experiment. I've had times where internet and my computer stopped working and I got so much written! You talked about the meditation app in the morning - you didn't consider trying meditation without the app?
omg what is that striped top you are wearing at the thumbnail? its not the french connection one you've linked to on the blog because that looks a little different!
Dear Anna, I was wondering where your bed is from? I am currently looking for a new bed and I just love yours!! - by the way, I have always fit in a digital detox day once a week ...or just for an evening. It is so good and calming for the soul!
I've found that the more I step away from technology, the less I want to go back to it. My sister and I were on a phone contract together, and when it ended and she wanted to move to a different carrier, and I didn't, I said I was just going to be without a phone for a couple of weeks, until I decided what to do. That was over 2 years ago. I have so very much enjoyed not having a phone, and not feeling like I can't escape from people, and that I *have* to be available if and when they call or text. I've gone internetless, too, and there's just something so freeing about it. (I'm also loads more productive during those times, too, obviously. A lack of Parks & Rec or Gilmore Girls binges apparently frees up a lot of useful time...)
I think you feel the same way about video comments as I do about emails at work! :) I liked this, it's like how things used to be before the internet. Quieter but also more time spent with people. Nice observations.
Love the detox idea. As far as crying during your vows. You might surprise yourself. I cry at pretty much anything emotionally touching (lol) and in November at my wedding I didn't cry a single tear!!! I planned bulletproof eye makeup just in case but nope. Honestly, before I walked down the aisle I had a pep talk with myself and told myself I'd rather have happy photos than photos of me looking hideous with red eyes and I repeated "enjoy it" which seemed to help. My husband said our daughter (she's 8) was shedding a couple tears behind me and if I had seen that I think the floodgates would've opened so I'm glad I didn't. Lol
I really liked this! I have a tendency to rely on my computer (way more than my phone) and so whenever people say 'go 24 hours without your phone!' I'm like pffft done. But all technology... that'd be hard. I'm so used to having music playing all the time.. I think that'd be the hardest bit. Love the vid Anna! And congrats on scrabble haha xx
Also, I meant to say, I was absolutely convinced I would blub uncontrollably during the key moments on my wedding day, but I didn't at all - I was too busy grinning from ear to ear! I think being really well rested and super organised so that you are not tired/worn out/stressed on the day makes a big difference. Have a wonderful wedding day, when it arrives! x
I felt like I was going to be the same on my wedding day, as I usually cry an embarrassing amount at weddings. However I was pretty restrained in the end, I think you just kind of get a sense that you have to hold it together a certain amount to get through the day (in a nice way - that makes it sound like a total chore!) Hopefully that happens to you too :) X
I really enjoyed the concept of this video and has made me think about taking on a day where I do this too.. however I'm not sure if I would have as much will power as you and last the entire day! x
Highly recommend adding something a little light and funny to your vows. That helped me so much and my husband ended up crying more than I did so plus for that haha
I cried an embarrassing amount at my friends wedding. I had no idea I was going to be so emotional, it hit me really hard all at once. They asked me to read something during the ceremony and as soon as I looked at the words, I started bawling. The celebrant was lovely, handed me a tissue and told me to take my time. Thankfully, I made it through. No idea how I'm going to be at my own wedding! 😓
I'm going on a cruise in 11 days and that will be a major digital detox!! When we vacation I try to remove my fb and twitter apps from my phone, still maybe post on IG but not read or only an hour a day. I'm online way way too much, so I think the breaks are good. Always have a good book handy. :)
Ooooh! I had to pause right away to comment the minute you said Mark is in India! Hope he's having a great time and that my country is treating him well! Tons of love & hugs from India 💞
I need to try this digital detox. I'm sure it's harder than it sounds! That foundation sounds amazing... just one tip - I've heard that it's best not to have SPF in your wedding foundation because of the camera flash. But you're the beauty expert so maybe I'm wrong! :) x
I thought I was going to cry so much, I ended up laughing more on my wedding day. I would suggest to be really in the moment and enjoy all of it, refuse to get to stressed and just breath... I like doing the digital detoxs on holidays which is really enjoyable.
A record player would look really cool in your place, or a retro radio, and would make a nice change from having your laptop on to listen to music. Books really help with digital detoxing, if you set yourself a goal of a chapter a day you can take a break from laptop/phone.
Alright! Hello everyone :) Would love to get to know, chat and exchange with you guys and such communities here! If you share the same spirit let's subscribe! I will make more and more videos about that good old life you know!
Me and my family do digital detoxes every Sunday. You will totally crave it once you start. I encourage you to do it once a week!!! It is the best decision we ever made.
I was worried I'd cry at our wedding but I didn't! Who'd have thought?! Not me! I was just so excited and it was such a wonderful day, the happiest day, second only to giving birth to our daughter. On a side note, really enjoy your videos. Love your style and trust your opinions on products x
Love this video Anna! It encourages me to be more mindful too :) how did you feel afterwards? I married my love 2 weeks ago! We wrote our own vows (which were a surprise to eachother) and that was the absolute highlight of the day :) so so magic. We both cried a little but honestly, the extreme happiness of having everyone you love there means the tears are happy and taking a few deep mindful breaths really helped me get the words out :) good luck and enjoy the planning process xx
Hahah if i did a digital detox i would probably end up a little delirious but It sure looks like a good experience. Although i wonder what the aftermath is like with the crazy amt of emails and message to reply lol!
Yes, please do a tour of your amazing makeup cabinet!! Been dying to see what you have in there!! I'm guessing it's pretty amazing.
Jane Jones yeah I feel like it will be so organised xx
gg beauty Agreed!! 🙄👍😉
Hi Anna I'd love to hear about your experience with the dermatologist and what she recommended. Love
your channel so much x x
Gemma McFarlane yea I would be really interested to hear more about that too!
Gemma McFarlane I'd also be interested in hearing about the dermatologist's thoughts.
Gemma McFarlane i
ME TOO!
loved the video, it was so relaxing! also, i'd love to see your makeup collection xx
Please show us your house, all the bits I've seen in your videos look AMAZING, major inspiration!!😍

gosh you are so pretty with no makeup and minimal makeup and full face makeup! basically girl can rock it all

Love your grey sweater during the intro! Where's it from?
And honestly, you brightened my day and inspire me and calm me. Keep being yourself in these videos, it's so refreshing.
I thought I'd cry on my wedding day as I did when we got engaged but I was just smiling so much it was so exciting I was going burst! good video!
YES! Absolutely loved this. Been considering a digital detox for a while now - but a cheeky Instagram/RUclips check here and there had always led me astray! Super inspired to give this a go and spend the day... EATING (even more), reading, drawing and relaxing!
I would love to see more about your gorgeous makeup cabinet. I'd love to know how you do the black and white labels for the drawers.

What skincare products did she suggest?

I loved this video! It's a great idea and it takes a lot of willpower, which is something I admire! I hope that mark is having fun on his travels!

Actually after a while I found I was getting ready a lot quicker without the distraction! It's definitely something we should do more often!
What type of dermatologist? I feel like mine just checks my skin moles etc, but I'd love if they would recommend a routine!
Watching this while eating breakfast! Love your videos Anna ❤️
So inspiring, I've also been wanting to give a digital detox a chance but my problem is when to actually do it, and take the time, might try it someday soon💜
Is it to late to avoid that Pale Barley being thrown away? I'd really love to get that!!😍
Love to see a full flat tour.
Loved this video Anna! Hi Anna, where is your drawer unit from?
Wait im confused, what does stripping back your skincare routine have to do with sun damage? Genuine question! Thanks xx
Loved this a tour of your Makeup Cabinet would be lovley, thankyou for sharing your day xxx
Good luck!

Your vlogs are my absolute fave Anna❤ I just hope you do them more regularly 😄
Hey Anna, I've been watching your videos for a long time now. Out of all the people I watch you've been the most inspiring about everything really:) And you're effortlessly funny as well. Keep up the good work;)
I loved this video ❤ that foundation looked amazing on you! I will have to try it out✨
Great video. I think I will try the 6 hours at a time idea! Anna what type of plant called on your landing? Also would love the make up video dresser tour you mentioned xx
Loved this idea Anna, we never realise truly realise how much we rely on technology till it's unavailable! xx
What do you think of the glossier bow brow. I'm super lazy with my brows but I've been looking for something easy I can do for them.
I am so in love with that cabinet!!
I definitely need to do a day like this. Thanks for the inspiration Anna x
Really appreciated that close up, natural light look at the foundation!
I've been waiting for your new video all night!! Yes!! So happy!!
A tour of the makeup drawers would be great!
Or just drop your phone in the loo at tha club and be without a phone for the following week. Pure bliss.
Hi Anna! Love your videos! I wanted to pop in to shed some light on the whole bawling during your vows concern you're having :)

Hi Anna. Where are your bedside tables from? I'm looking for some similar. Defo trying a digital detox soon xxx
Julia Whiting I'm sure they're from John Lewis
Kunjal Randall thank you 😘
I think you feel the same way about video comments as I do about emails at work! :) I liked this, it's like how things used to be before the internet. Quieter but also more time spent with people. Nice observations.
The elegant tear part cracked me up :D Love you Anna
This was so refreshing to watch and such a brilliant idea x
Love the detox idea. As far as crying during your vows. You might surprise yourself. Hi Anna, love your channel! Please can you tell me what nail varnish you're wearing in this video?
Also, I meant to say, I was absolutely convinced I would blub uncontrollably during the key moments on my wedding day, but I didn't at all - I was too busy grinning from ear to ear! I think being really well rested and super organised so that you are not tired/worn out/stressed on the day makes a big difference. Have a wonderful wedding day, when it arrives! x
Definitely do a tour please, I love makeup collection videos!
What nail polish are you wearing? It's gorgeous.
I really enjoyed the concept of this video and has made me think about taking on a day where I do this too.. however I'm not sure if I would have as much will power as you and last the entire day! x
I think I'm gonna do this on the weekend! Loved this video, Anna! Xx
why are your bedroom door handles on the wrong way round??
Please please please do an updated makeup collection :)
Highly recommend adding something a little light and funny to your vows. That helped me so much and my husband ended up crying more than I did so plus for that haha
Have you watched The Edge of Seventeen? Nadine reminded me so much of Anna 😁😁
Hi Anna I like this exp and also motivated me to do one day like this and also liked how did u spend yr day with parents and spl with grandma
PS - have you checked our The Grand Brighton Spa?
I cried an embarrassing amount at my friends wedding. I had no idea I was going to be so emotional, it hit me really hard all at once. They asked me to read something during the ceremony and as soon as I looked at the words, I started bawling. The celebrant was lovely, handed me a tissue and told me to take my time. You've given me inspiration to have my own digital detox this Saturday, it's going to be hard, but I shall persevere 💪
love these vloggy type videos xxx

I need to try this digital detox. I'm sure it's harder than it sounds!
That foundation sounds amazing... just one tip - I've heard that it's best not to have SPF in your wedding foundation because of the camera flash. But you're the beauty expert so maybe I'm wrong! :)

I thought I was going to cry so much, I ended up laughing more on my wedding day. I would suggest to be really in the moment and enjoy all of it, refuse to get to stressed and just breath... I like doing the digital detoxs on holidays which is really enjoyable.
please do a tour of your make up collection and what's on your everyday make up shelve !! thank you!!!!
A record player would look really cool in your place, or a retro radio, and would make a nice change from having your laptop on to listen to music. Books really help with digital detoxing, if you set yourself a goal of a chapter a day you can take a break from laptop/phone.
I loved this! I need to do this soon!🌿
Alright! Hello everyone :)

ooh when is the wedding! would love to see a make up collection video
I did have a morning digital detox. Loved it, I think I'll try and make it longer every time I do it. =)
Hahah if i did a digital detox i would probably end up a little delirious but It sure looks like a good experience. Although i wonder what the aftermath is like with the crazy amt of emails and message to reply lol!
