I made these yesterday for the wife. She loves them. I was trying to get them done before the cold season. I know that I will have to make a couple more because she likes them so much. I'm new at sewing and these are fairly straight forward and easy. I even came away with some helpful hints. The wife says thanks.

Just cut up the pattern ready to make. Have also cut out a pattern for my toddler niece. You said about re sizing for child sizes. I just shrunk the pattern when I sent to print. I reduced to 60 (from 113 original) looks to be right for child size 5

Well its 2021, and I came across your tutorial... My gift is for someone with SZ 12!!! So I am elongating the sole about an 1 1/2 inches. Also using Fleece and Sherpa for the lining. Should be warm and cozy for Colorado winter!!

Hi, I also just watched this tutorial and I’m loving this idea for Christmas gifts. I don’t know where you live but what she is referring to as wadding we call quilt batting where I live. I think she was using a cotton or bamboo batting. If you make quilts this would be a great way to use scraps. I also noticed she only used the batting on the soles of the slippers. Awesome... was thinking to make a pair of fleece socks or maybe even down like puffer jacket material style. After watching, I am wondering about using type 1 silicone (vinegar smelling) on the bottom and maybe up the sides covering the seams not as much for grip... more for durability and instead of being a sock... more like a slipper. I guess with leather or tougher material... would turn into a boot. Thanks for sharing, neat pattern!

It's great to see a vlogger who a) is in a similar age cohort to me! b) has children and sews for them as well and c) has come to sewing more recently and via You Tube (I have taken up sewing in the past 18months after previously quilting for a couple of years - and have learned everything I know from You Tube tutorials....) and d) has an appreciation of mindfulness, thrifting and trying to do things within a family budget....Hope you and your family have a lovely Xmas, here in New Zealand we are having a summer heatwave so it is a very different view outside my window.....(our hot Christmas' are a bit surreal, I'm still eating mince pies and Christmas cake under a humid hot Auckland sky.!)

Thank you for mentioning they run a little on the big size. I was going to make a large so I could wear thick socks with them. But when I laid out my pattern it wasn't fitting the recommended ⅜ yard. I too am a lefty and confuse people sometimes if I use my left hand. Growing up in a right dominate world had trained me to mostly use my right though.
Lisa, I have tons of old jeans. Do you think this pattern would work with denim and flannel lining, or do both need to be stretchy? Im thinking denim ones would be great for men. I also think I will use foam for inside the sole.
I don’t see why not! The flannel isn’t stretchy at all, so I don’t think that a necessity. I think the sweatshirt material helps them “stand up” and keep their shape; so slightly stiffer jeans might be better. Happy making!
It would probably work, but I would cut the pattern on the bias, then you'd have some stretch and give and maybe cut the pattern a bit bigger. Denim would be awesome with flannel or fleece lining.
Hi Lisa, Merry Christmas! 🎅🎁🤶 I just finished making a set of slipper boots for my daughters friend using Sherpa for the lining. They are super cute, that being said I will never use Sherpa for the lining ever again! It's a pain to sew with and made the slipper to bulky. I hope my daughters friend likes them. I have three more to make and thank goodness no more Sherpa available...yeah!

I made these and they really are very cute. I even put the non skid on the bottoms and wore socks to try and keep them on my feet! Bummer, cuz I really was hoping to make a bunch of these for Christmas
I, for one...I need to see the sewing to get the full picture in my head. I’m a visual sewer, crafter or when I’m baking. Your instructions were good but I really need to see the sewing. Sorry🙁

I feel it would be easier to understand what your doing if you weren’t holding the fabric up.laying it on a table would make it easier to see what you’re doing.

It’s a great way to use something that has a stain or hole- or a logo you don’t want to wear- that might otherwise get tossed from the thrift store.

Hi Lisa did you have to flip the sole and toe pattern so you have a left and a right and is it best to cut with right sides together or individual
I just cut them without flipping them, but maybe double check their blog for the instructions- it was a long time ago now. 😂

Do you still clip the curves? What about using that stiff craft foam, denim, or canvas?

You certainly could! The don’t lie flat like traditional Christmas stockings- but there would be more room inside for goodies!! ;)

UK shoe sizes aren't the same as US ones. That could be a reason why they came out big on you.
It lists both on the pattern- UK and US. I’ve never tried a Tilly and the Buttons- such a great quality pattern!
