I discovered them supporting Alter Bridge, funnily enough I think it was on the tour this was taken from. Dig into their catalogue, loved them since. Seeing them again in March, fucking hyped.
I'm sitting here immersing myself in this. I've listened to this song so many times but seeing them perform it live, with that energy and precision, is nothing short of overwhelming. The second that intro starts, I'm engulfed by a tidal wave of chills. This is such an emotional, beautiful and badass song. There has been a lot of music that has touched me on a deeper level, but not quite the way so many of Gojira's songs have. I think they are the !most important musicians out there today. When I first watched this performance I bought a guitar afterwards...it was one year ago. My goal was to play The Gift Of Guilt without faults and I practised it every evening. Now it's my warm-up song...I don't know, I always feel an energy when I play it. Thank you Gojira for giving me a reason to learn guitar!
Haha. Mario was one of my inspirations (along with Mike Portnoy, Hellhammer and else) to start drumming. No need to say I will never be able to play as good.
Everything about this band is just so right. Really (for me) a refreshing revelation in metal in last few years. I loved how much they were positively surprised during their gig in Zagreb in '12 when discovered how much we (Croatians) know their stuff. I am sure they will come back, and I'll be there, banging my head. :)
I discovered this band 16 years ago, I saw them grow up years after years, and now they're famous in the all world!! I'm glad for them, they deserve it!!! For me, best French Metal band ever!!!!
At one stage it sounded so good I thought it was the actual studio track just over a live recording. It's proves how talented these guys are. Keep it up roadrunner and don't commercialise and make them a "product".
Magma was an emotionally devastating album with universal themes of grief and sorrow that we can all relate to, in some way. It was the furthest thing from a product, born of the Duplantier brothers' deepest, most profound emotions. Another World was also a great track, simplicity doesn't always mean "selling out".

throughout the whole song i get so much chills (it's one of my favourite songs of Gojira with Art of Dying, L'enfant Sauvage, Magma, Stranded and Sight to Behold), but when 6:21 comes in this live versions and I see Jean-Michel Labadie enjoy so much the song it's when I feel the passion of this guys. Probably one of the few metal bands that keep metal alive in this century. Explosive sound and a fucking great show
I feel like there are 4 speeds in this song, the intro riff, the second one heavier, and the third one with the double bass drum at full speed. Then the fourth one with the riff in the end. A roller-coaster of emotions you just went through, hearing this masterpiece.

Best live band in the history of music. The sound quality, the perfect playing, the vocals, the beat. It's all outstanding!!! I bet these guys record a whole record, in like 3 hours. Actually, I think their LIVE sound is a little BETTER, than the records. How is that possible??? Unbelievable band. For real.
Love this band!! I've only been a fan for a year and I cannot get enough. Also, I could watch Mario play live for hours. The dude is a beast on the drums.
Evgeniy Zykov Maybe they will release a blury, but not with the book, who knows? But from what I heard, for The Flesh Alive the difference between the blu-ray and the dDVD wasn't much.
PlayToDie I have Flesh Alive Blu Ray and trust me quality is very good, better than DVD for sure. I watched it on 42' TV, dvd is nowhere as good as BR.
Just here to give credits to the whole band, I get it Mario is absolutely one of the best drummers I’ve ever heard. But this entire band is one of the tightest most intens live bands I’ve ever seen. Immediately after the first time I saw them live they became one of my favorite bands ever.
Mario's drumming is like the ocean, sometimes calm, constant, or crashing like waves, but always fluid

Lyrics:
We leave the shores to see the mountains rising
A distant impression growing
This judgment creates the pain we hold
Destructive intentions that serve no purpose but the end of us all
These vultures from the past
Coming in all the hells and worlds, the time has come
Delivered from their eyes
Embrace, suffer, destroy - the gift of guilt
The shame and sorrow, self-condemnation
Fill all the gaps and the spaces, unyielding
Bestowed upon us, devastating power
We're building connective tissue to a maze of lies
We're left as starving orphans, the vital core is gone
Our sins are all over and over again we swallow
We're sick and tired when this wind blows, the reflex is insane
We must forgive and stop blaming ourselves for this love
In all the hells and worlds, the time has come
In all the hells and worlds, the time has come
These vultures from the past
Coming in all the hells and worlds, the time has come
Delivered from their eyes
I'm leaving this behind - the gift of guilt

Rest easy my friends ,
The living always bare...
The gift of guilt ....

I feel like there are 4 speeds in this song, the intro riff, the second one heavier, and the third one with the double bass drum at full speed. Then the fourth one with the riff in the end. A roller-coaster of emotions you just went through, hearing this masterpiece.
this song gives me goose bumps.
Perfect.
4:14 not perfect :P
5:25 Perfection.

Best live sound in the world, no question about. I would probably soil myself if I was there
Best Metal band in the world right now! What! \m/ Cheers to the French.

+Alex Williamson Absolutely right sir!
+Alex Williamson Cheers to you :)
Thanks mate!
French do salute you bro
The scream at 5:25 gives me chills every time.
Not a huge fan of Gojira but from time to time I feel the need to come back here... This song is pure gold.
Best live band I've ever witnessed. Seeing them a third time in two months. I really wish they would play this one live more.
I started to listen Gojira a few months ago... this song is looping like 10 times in the last hour. Duplantier top 3 metal drummer right now. Its something out of this world
5:25 probably the most emotional scream I've heard since I started to listen to metal.
Why is every one like: "Joes vocals are amazing"
And I'm like: Dam dem drums do be sounding good doe.
@@harjithothi902 cuz his drumming is a constant 10/10 but Joe's vocals vary from time to time and in this particular moment he even outperforms the studio version.
@@crestfallen821 I no im just joking
The Gift of Mario
Anthonyrz he reminds me of animal from the muppets. Love it
C'est d'une puissance je pourrais écouter cent fois ce solo de début. INCROYABLE
Et bien, 2022. Toujours un des meilleurs live de tous les temps. ♥
Authentic soul therapy
We are not alone
Their music genious and wisdom is everpresent ❤❤❤
Gojira has such a unique tone which is so distinguished from other bands, amazing
Such an explosive band. Gojira needs to be at this year's Knotfest!!
Saw them live in Birmingham last night for the first time. This songs my favourite. Never been more excited for a song live. Loved every second up at the rails
What a f... ING triiiip with this song ..amazing. MASTERPIECE!!
This song is simply amazing, it has everything.. shivers down my spine :)
We leave the shores to see the mountains rising
A distant impression growing
This judgment creates the pain we hold
Destructive intentions that serve no purpose but the end of us all
[Chorus]
These vultures from the past
Coming in all the hells and worlds, the time has come
Delivered from their eyes
Embrace, suffer, destroy - the gift of guilt
[Verse 2]
The shame and sorrow, self-condemnation
Fill all the gaps and the spaces, unyielding
Bestowed upon us, devastating power
We're building connective tissue to a maze of lies
[Bridge]
We're left as starving orphans, the vital core is gone
Our sins are all over and over again we swallow
We're sick and tired when this wind blows, the reflex is insane
We must forgive and stop blaming ourselves for this love
[Interlude]
In all the hells and worlds, the time has come
In all the hells and worlds, the time has come
These vultures from the past
Coming in all the hells and worlds, the time has come
Delivered from their eyes
I'm leaving this behind - the gift of guilt
I keep coming back to this. It just makes me feel like electricity running through my veins, especially during the chorus. Such a beautiful and intense song!
for me GOJIRA is one of the best metal band of history
manu laroche - Top 3 all time easy. 🐐
yes i agree :)
RELEASE THIS CONCERT ON BLU RAY NOW but seriously this is amazing and I must have it.
Out the 11th March 2014 !!! roadrunnerrecords.com/news/gojira-cd-dvd-book-20140123
Aww yes! thank you for the awesome news :D
PlayToDie no blu ray? what a bummer
I watched it on 42' TV, dvd is nowhere as good as BR.
when does a metal song brings you tears to the eyes? here it does!
There are very few RUclips videos with a comment section this positive. ❤️
Officially a Classic.
Geezus H. This band continually blows my mind.
Just here to give credits to the whole band, I get it Mario is absolutely one of the best drummers I’ve ever heard. But this entire band is one of the tightest most intens live bands I’ve ever seen. Immediately after the first time I saw them live they became one of my favorite bands ever.
jesus, what a band!
Love the guitar acrobatics on this tune !
0:24 i love this detail, he sings the note and then play it so he can see if it is on tune. amazing.
