It may be an expat group but nearly half of the comments you read on this video were posted by locals.. Nothing wrong with that, of course. However, the issues that concern locals the most (like overpopulation, traffic, local politics, etc) are not necessarily matters that are of concern to every expat. Also, while it is true that there is a lot of construction going on, there is also a lot of restoration being carried out in historic areas. Those complaining about the lack of greenery and open spaces would do well to venture a little beyond Sliema, Gzira and other central areas as you rightly said. I also fail to understand why so many expect Malta to look similar to other European countries when it’s just a 27km rock surrounded by sea, and possibly the country with the warmest average temperature in Europe.

Hey Susan I lived 5 yrs in Malta with my dog. So firstly no parks to go with the dogs. Very little to no greenery in Malta. Regarding beaches from April till October you can’t bring your dog to the beach. There is one dog friendly beach way up at the top of the island, I lived in Mellieha so it was a short drive for me but if you are down the island it’s a nightmare in traffic. Restaurants are good about dogs but no shopping and remember you can’t leave them in the car over the heat. Parking is a nightmare if you don’t have a garage. I moved last year and I miss the sea terribly but I don’t miss the noise chaos dust congestion of Malta 😅😅 where you live means everything in Malta.
Yes, it's impossible for any two people to 100% agree, on if it's worth moving to Malta. I don't love the public transportation anywhere that I have used public transportation, and I personally find the public transportation in much of Malta to be good to great depending on where you are going to and from, yes some bus stops have way more reliable pickups than others, yes a part of the Valletta/Floriana bus station is not properly labeled, and it can be very hard to know where to pick up the right bus. Is there any country that does not have at least a little racism, both tourists in Malta, and locals of Malta can be racist. Is there any country that does not have at least a little government corruption? I don't see that as being a reason to not move to a country. The cost of living anywhere in Europe is very expensive.
I live in Ontario and I can’t go anywhere in 30 minutes of driving. Yes traffic is bad in Malta (people are crazy and don’t follow the rules lol) but when you’re used to driving 1-2 hours to go places Malta is perfect lol.
Good morning Alex, I'm from the US and planning to move to Malta for my retirement. I've noticed you were saying about people complaining about fumes from transportation and no greenery. It would be a great idea to start EV vehicles and charging stations and start a program about planting new trees in other areas of Malta and islands. That's what is happening in the USA to reduce carbon monoxide in the air to create a cleaner environment. It is never too late to start a better environment for Malta. The sooner, the better. Have a great day, Chris😊
Good luck with that. Cars are expensive proportionate to the wages, most parking is on the street and most roads are so bad EV's are not advisable. There has already been one EV sharing company that has come and gone.

Hey Alex, thank you so much for an amazing insight regarding people trying to relocate! I have a few questions : why did you move to Malta? What type of job that you do? And how long did it take you to buy your apartment? I’m Russian living in UK for 13 years now and whatever people say about Malta sounds like the problem in every country if you haven’t been out a lot 😂 I’ve been to Malta twice in April 2018 and in November to December this year and it was amazing! My second time there, cheap ciggies, cheap drink and cheap local food always! UK local stuff is about 3 times more expensive everywhere 😂 I guess it depends where you want to relocate from?
Alex, when you came to Malta at the beggining did you have a job or did you find your job once you were in Malta ? Since you are part of the non EU citizen, it is interesting to know how was your experience. Where you alone or did you have friend in the island that help you up ?
Contentment is the treasure of every person according to his conviction in the country in which he wants to live. Without that, people would not have moved and traveled from one country to another.

Hi Alex, nice eye opener....very rightly one should analyse how much is enough for him or her have a comfortable life in Malta or any other country in the world, basis the income they can get and net saving after necessary expenditure (tax+rent+food+transport+mobile/internet) etc. Racism do exists everywhere (% may wary). Racism of skin colour/ language/ social status etc

I'm Maltese and I'm a vegetarian, most shops have vegan groceries some have dedicated sections, especially the large supermarkets such as Pavi, Pama, Greens and Lidl. You can find Vegan specific restaurants but they are rare, but you can find a variaty of restuarants and different cousines, some cousines like Indian and Middle Eastern are more vegan friendly than others, if you go to a Maltese cousine restaurant you won't find anything, and you would have to improvise, oftenly I'll take grilled or boiled veg only. Hope this helps, hope you have a wonderful experience here in Malta.

I’ve been considering move back to Malta for a while now, I’m scared to do the step as I’m a single parent and I don’t know if I’ll survive. thanks buddy :) you get a work permit from your main employer the one that hires you full time. Once you get a work permit, that is your residence card as well, so you have a social security number which is the same number for your second job (part time)
Alex living in Zurrieq confirmed? :D Thank you for another great video Alex. You're view on Malta is something that I've been looking at in the last couple of months and have the same opinion. Like with everything, it depends also on a luck if you will be happy in Malta or not. Depending on the location where you will settle, with what neighbors. What kind of job you'll be working, what kind of salary you will be earning. Etc. But not everyone can be lucky, living in a detached villa, sit on top positions while earning big bucks.
That goes for every country. I live in Australia and have seen people come from allover the world coming here thinking that they will get rich. Reality hits them when they find their money comes in one hand and out with the next.
I live in Bangkok, I can stand at one traffic light for 40 minutes, leave the city on the high road for another 1-2 hours, on holidays even more time, smoke and gas pollution - at least it protects a little from the sun)), there are times when the government does not recommend opening windows and wear masks outside for your health. Almost everyone has air purifiers in their rooms; we clean air conditioners every 6 months. They didn’t say anything about medicine and hospitals, Europeans scare us with stories about waiting lines of 3 months - Italy, France. how is it in Malta?
Thanks for informative video. I have been watching many hindi videos and they talk about shit. I have one question but no one has answered. what is the opportunities for software developer in malta who has 5 years of experience from Indian? Thanks in advanced
I can answer it for you. Difficult to get a job in Malta in that field as a start up, why? Because there are countless of software developers with EU passports that can get the position straightaway plus they work already in Europeaj market. If you move to Malta and start working in an IT company or gaming company in a junior level, you can show your potential and start going up in your career. Im not saying its impossible to get a software developer job as a first job in Malta but the chances are 1 in MIL
Hi Alex. I have 10+ yrs experience in hospitality and wellness sector in India. Do you think, there are decent opportunities in these sector for someone like me.
What about international students Do they get a pharmacist job after post graduating from the University of malta. I heard that non-europeans are paid less
For work it’s ok not the best but it’s ok it is a country with different work opportunities. Regarding clean air you say you smell in your south area? I also live in the south but the air in Malta is all the same smelly ( even the flowers smell bad) I think your noes has gotten use to the toxic air Malta has that moving to the south seems clean and fresh. I remember a Malta back in 2008 were it was indeed a haven. Sadly not anymore! Iv been here almost 15 years, just a few weeks out of Malta make you realize how bad the air is here. Talking about pollution it’s not just air pollution but noise pollution, and ground pollution you need to take into consideration… now I’ve seen worst pollution in other countries iv visited when it comes to rubbish being thrown everywhere Malta is definitely better than some of them… looking at you Sicily 😅. But even though it’s still bad! I find the one of biggest problem here apart from high rent low wages and overpopulation and all type of pollution is the fact that many Maltese are very arrogant. Sure you can be proud of you country but sometimes it gets out of hand and stupidity literally defines the country. By this I mean racism, not wanting to learn anything new, as as soon as you mention something negative or a small criticism, the overly used, very boring phrase of “you don’t like it here? Go back to your country” comes out and to me it’s ridiculous that you can even have a adult conversation without a childish tantrum appearing. Oh and let us not forget the incredible bad driving! Accidents every day but what can you expect if some of the driving instructors don’t even follow simple road rules? But if you like this sort of thing then yes Malta will be the perfect place for you :) Malta is not what it used to be at all, that is all I can tell you.
May I also say that this misperception that Malta is the most polluted place in Europe, or worse than Beijing, is just that ... A misperception. There is a website which gives real time air quality all over the world, and Malta's air quality is usually moderate in the Msida station and good anywhere else. Sometimes you may get anomalies such as instrument malfunctions or a Sahara desert storm blowing over us which makes the reading go into "red" territory. This is objective science not perception.
"DS" you're so so spot on 🎯 re pollution index/abnormal spike periods etc. It happens in every country including the so called "cleanest" and who still burn "coal 💀" for their power generation etc. I support your comment 💯 %. Take care 🙏. Cheers 👍 🇲🇹 ♥ 🇪🇺 ™

USA here and looking for places to retire and making a list. Malta is one of them. Every government is corrupt in some form or fashion. And from what I can gather on my research where I live in the US near Washington DC (very expensive) Malta is like dirt cheap to retire which is the pros. And the racism can't be worse then the US ( not looking to get in a debate please). We are a family of 3 and my son will be an adult at age 18 when we move (in 4 years) and will live with us since he is special needs. Probably work as a dishwasher or housecleaner or a simple job that he can do and he will live with us.Our goal is looking for a nice quiet life that we can enjoy and work if we want (we are retired military vets so we have pension).
No, I don't think Malta is a good place to move too unless you are retired with a good amount of money to keep you living a decent lifestyle, OR coming to work in a high paying job. This is from my experience of living there.

I lived there for 3 years and have been back in UK for 11yrs. Loved it.... There's good and bad where ever you go... NOT so much construction going on when I was there. We lived next to the Dolmen hotel in St Paul's Bay and my outlook was beautiful. We overlooked the sea. It was stunning. We miss it.

🤝😊
Alex, when you came to Malta at the beggining did you have a job or did you find your job once you were in Malta ? Since you are part of the non EU citizen, it is interesting to know how was your experience. Where you alone or did you have friend in the island that help you up ?
Contentment is the treasure of every person according to his conviction in the country in which he wants to live. Without that, people would not have moved and traveled from one country to another.

Hi alex loved the video i have been thinking of doing my masters in malta so I'm just asking if there are opportunities for call center jobs in Malta. Because I have 2 years of experience in international call centers mainly as a solar appointment setter and energy comparison and also as a customer support. So since I'm good at this trade can i get jobs on malta like this as a telemarketer or a customer support agent part time or full time.
It's an amazing job for students who are well versed in english language.

I’m going to Malta in two months.
I’m a vegan.
Could you tell us about vegan in Malta?😢
We hate vegans. If you don't eat pussy we don't want you.

Thank you for another great video Alex.

But if you like this sort of thing then yes Malta will be the perfect place for you :)
Malta is not what it used to be at all, that is all I can tell you.
What they say to you is right. If you don't like it leave. It's as simple as that. You are the one being childish not them.
Thanks buddy 🤝😊

I am planning to move to Malta to study and for blockchain job. But seeing all these videos, I am in confusion
Hope to meet you in Malta. ❤️

What you just said applies to every country.
