As far as i know, there was a time where some classes couldnt use buckler and some classes couldnt use a heater, so im assuming weapon mastery helps with that unless they reworked who could use a shield and which before the multiclass system was introduced
edit: in order to use shield bash, logically a shield would be considered a weapon, weapon slot usage, captain america, etc.
it would be cool to see a shield throw skill or something lol kinda like lanterns
