Great close ups! Thank you for the update! I hope there will be a break in the vog!
Always facinating
Excellent news. Maybe we will get a break from the bad VOG
Where you? Volcano or Kona side?
Thanks for sharing…!
Awesome close-up.
HPP thanks you.
why? It's not coming this way, ever. Like getting the roads paved. "Won't happen in your life time." GM HPPOA 2003
I imagine all this heat is as old as our planet and the energy that created this heat is as old as the universe? Wow!
Great video, there.
Thanks.
Awesome 🙌
Praying for everyone who could be affected by this situation. Amen 🙏
lol, it's literally erupting in the middle of nowhere.

Shoots, was hoping it went all the way down to the ocean. Been what now 6 years no ocean flow? STILL haven't repaved Pohoiki Rd. Puna lavaland stay broken.
why does all this hot lava not cause forest fires when it pops up in heavily forested areas? does the regular rain make that much of a difference
It does cause fires, eventually. The heat underground also boils the root systems, so trees in the area that do not burn will still whither and die. You'd be surprised how quickly plants and grasses spread back onto the lava once the eruption subsides.
Makes it's own weather this island. But yea on the WET side of the island isn't like Lahaina on the DRY side of Maui. We got Waikoloa, burns every year on our DRY side. You live in Volcano Village or Fern Forest, anywhere above 1000' and it's WET, MOLDY. Ferns are mold, BIG clue.
How long does it take for the new lava to be covered by the trees again. Years, decades or centuries?
Plants can start growing on cooled lava flows within a decade. Trees though, not sure, probably many decades.

Hawaii
Middle of the Pacific Ocean.
The Big Island of Hawaii. It is the most southeastern of the 5 major islands and by far the largest. There are 2 active volcanoes on the island, Kiluea and Mauna Loa.
