  • From Pete Townshend's 2001 compilation Scoop 3.
Pete: "A half-completed studio recording was made in February 1985 onto 32 track digital tape by Bill Pace at my large Oceanic studio in Twickenham. On these sessions Rabbit (John Bundrick) played Hammond, Clem Burke played drums, Phil Chen played bass. I played guitar. Later two sub masters were created, one to half-inch analogue 16 track, another to 4 track cassette Portastudio. I recorded some new 'Bender' guitars on the 16 track and a demo lead vocal on the Portastudio. To create this mix I decided not to go back to the digital master, but to combine the two sub masters."

I'm a Pete T and Who fan big time. I'm not impressed with these demo, unlike Scoop 1 and 2. Pete calls one track Eminence Front - it could be any song but he calls the demo by a name that would make some want to buy the record. Well, now you can hear any album on RUclips before buying it. Why release some demos just to release them? Pete's demos are generally excellent and while there is the odd one on Scoop 3 I like, there's maybe one record's worth of ok demo's.
