You'll find that the price of laptops with these processors is very similar...They are very very close to each other in terms of performance

to be honest you cant really compare them since they have different memory speed and disks
I only want to know if it's better or not in different applications and this is exactly what the video is about
You are a true techy!
2f4uReActiON yes i agree with that
I agree, Ram and disk speed differences, make a difference. Also who buys an I7 with 2 cores, thats a joke. No one is buying computers with CPUs that are less than 4cores. Depending on the RAM configuration, they could have taken one stick out of one machine, maybe, but in general this is a really flawed test, and basically pointless.
Also no one needs to buy U CPUs anymore, HQ CPUs are good for todays times, soon that will change though, K processors are starting to come out, and once prices start going down, a little bit on K procsessors, thats definitely the route to take, because K procsessors can be over colocked, as long as theres not a terrible BIOS on the computer, that prevents the CPU from being overclocked. At that point you can install a custom bios, but that will void the waranty, granted, it is just software/firmware, so you could technically load the original bios back on, as long as everythings working, enough to do that, but if not maybe, if your lucky, the technician won't be able to see the bios either, or if your even luckier, you wont have any issues with the computer at all, so you won't need to RMA it.
if these computers are still $297 And $393, thats not bad, but, honestly U procsessors are best for Tablets/ U processors are lower powered CPUs that are designed to be used on tablets/ give you better battery life, but what you gain in battery life, you loose in performance.
Also Im not hating on HQ processors they are good, I'm just saying K processors are better, because of the overclocking factor.
My current laptop has an HQ 8th gen, Quad Core, I7 CPU in it, and it is a beast, I just don't have the ability to overclock it, like you get from k processors.
If were just going by price, go with the I5 computer, its cheaper, if these computers are still this price or below, but don't expect allot from U procsessors.
The rest of the video makes no sense at all.
Also the amount of cores, Cache, and GHZ in the CPU, will make a difference, other parts like SSD/Hardrive speeds make a difference, plus how much Rams in the computer can play a factor in all of this as well too, like an SSD will usually provide better/faster boot times vs a hardrive, and Ram is faster than storage devices, so having more RAM can help.
Anyway long story short, its still not an accurate test/its not an even test on either side, both computers have ups and downs, neither computer is better in every way than the other one.
Also I can't really tell, but I think I see a green sticker on one of the Computers, one of the computers may even have a graphics card in it, if thats the case this is now an even less scientific video, because allot of editing software, such as adobee, relies on cuda cores, anyway theres no real point to this video.
Ferdinand S How can you know if its better or not with different specs of both the systems...
Lenovo 16gb ram and DELL jUST 8 GB?? CASE CLOSED
Thats valid in the benchmarks, but, in the boot time? shut down time?, maybe Lenovo has better optimization.
@@entremontanas7614 😝
@@entremontanas7614 Of course the dual channel greatly increases the performance the i5 is at a disadvantage
I mean you could have a Pentium with 32gigs of ram and it would be worse than this

I would recommend getting the i5-8250U over the i7 7500U.. Overall the Quad core i5-8250u will outperform the last gen i7 dual core.
Guys, don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to meet the 1000 Subs required by RUclips in Feb 20 2018. Thanks!
RobReports thanks for comparison! I was confused whether should I buy i58g or i77g.
What would you choose if the i5-8250u is combined with 1TB HDD and the i7-7500u is combined with 256GB SSD? I'm going to use it for programming in Eclipse and Visual Studio mostly. Less space on SSD doesn't bother me :D
RobReports Thank u for this video. It really helped with my laptop purchase!! I noticed the Lenovo has 16 GB ram and the Dell only 8 GB ram hence the faster boot.
Im getting the i5 8th gen. Keep up the good work and comparison uploads!
Forgot to see the comparison and started to hear the lovely music
What is the name of music
Lol.. 👌😂
Suprb comment
Lol
me too 🤣🤣🤣
That also depends on if it has a hdd or ssd
both SSD, HDD can't boot in a 13 sec
Also an m.2 drive
AwesomeArmpit123
I have a LapTop with an Intel i5 8250u and a SSD M.2. My laptop starts in less than 5 seconds
creí que era con un xdd
Wouldn't the comparison only be meaningful if all other things (RAM, boot disk, # of cores on each CPU, manufacturer) were the same? In this case, the potential bottlenecks are too different.
nice comparison
booting time is identical. the judge is different company :). we know Dell has a lot of thing doing in the bios before booting.
That's correct... Dell takes a while to show thr Dell Logo... Eho knows what it is doing but I have had 3 Dells, all of them take their sweet time to post.
She likes: Nggghh time to wake up... =_= hoaam.. *Booting* XD
Adriansyah Firdaus agreed :D
hashhakaj kamaluden cvincđ
any solution for this decrease BIOS time my dell take 7.5 second , my friend hp laptop takes only 3.2 second for BIOS time
*This is why COMPETITION IS SO IMPORTANT.* Intel didn't give a shit about improving their products YOY, they only boosted performance
Did you mean yourself, Nawaf?
Thats right. And really good for us. Nevertheless i would buy yet Intel but maybe in a few years if AMD makes well i could imagine to give a try for them :)
Georgi Mihaylov no I was talking about your mom.
Nawaf J. wht did u joke or what
Unfortunately AMD is still miles behind Intel in single core performances, otherwise I would happily buy AMD, I hate when a single company dominates the market in a certain area.
In terms of Bootup time, the 8250u still wins because disregarding the loading from the Bios logo, see the time it takes from getting through the login screen to the desktop.
The 8250u loaded the desktop almost instantly!
+Zeekay Nice Catch!
Zeekay you're right, min. details can be the difference for the people who wants to buy one or the other. 👏🏻
RobReports why did you check the bootup speed in the vid, that bearly is effected by the CPU, it's more effected by the SSD and these are two different laptops plus the i7 model has a GeForce card in it the i5 model does not, also the i7 model has 16gb ram the i5 has 8gb of ram, how is this comparison valid at all, it just doesn't make sense
i5 8250u can never maitain the boost at 15w power,it always drops to 1.6ghz under load
Bro ! I huess younare running a SSD in the Lenovo comparred to HDD in the Dell with 8th. However, nice video and great comparison. Also, 8th gen proscessors are way better and value for money compared to their old gen superior procrssors.
My lenovo yoga 520 with i5 8250 boot in 4sec or less trust me very impressive! I have almost purchased the i7 gen 7.... The i5 gen is very smooth even in Google Chrome pinch to zoom. Affinity photo works flawlessly.
mimstyle Affinity Photo tuto That's 2 different Laptops if one of them have a faster sdd?!? That's not comparable.
Hage Fale pcie ssd and sata ssd yes are not comparable. I have the pcie is so fast with lenovo 4sec max
mimstyle Affinity Photo tuto hey do you think an i3 would be good with affinity photo?
Same here. just got Lenovo ideapad 720s and boots incredible fast in 3-4sec max
mimstyle Affinity Photo tuto can I know the spec for your laptop yoga 520?
Thanks for the demonstration! Exactly what I was looking for :)
Still respectable for 7500U despite being only dual-core with 4 threads. Whereas 8250U has double of 7500U's cores and threads. But 8250U surely beats 7500U when it comes to multi-core/thread tasks like video rendering works.
Also 8250u has 8gb of ram. If it was 16gb it would blow 7500u
That SSD yoga making boot up more faster dude...
When comparing 2 things specifically, all others should be constant. Which means you ought to have compared 2 exact same laptops with the only difference being the cpu
In the boot proccess is very important the HDD, if you have a SSD the system will boot very fast. I have a lenovo with a i5-8250U , 265Gb SSD and is amazing. In fact, if you want boot speed to start programs/applications, the most important is the SSD. (Sorry for my english, I'm Spanish)
Hahaha. . . Amazing
This is not a chipset comparison, it just comparing this two particular Laptop model performance
I have an ASUS from 2012 with Celeron 1.7Ghz, 4GB RAM and 500GB SATA with Windows 10 Pro 64bit.
He always opens in about 4 seconds with his logo included.
The video decoding is extremely unfair, the i7 one has 16gigs of ram whereas i5 has 8, and decoding does require a lot of RAM.
No its fair since i7 7th gen has intel hd graphics while i5 8th gen has uhd graphics
Saeed Najmddin the i7 laptop has a GeForce card in it.if you look on the i7 laptop you can see the Nvidia sticker on it also it's unfair because how do you know if they have the exact same SSD for bootup speeds, bootup has nothing to do with the procceser really in terms of speed that's at the hands of the ssd
RAM amount may play important role, this kind of comparision not very good when both are not same in configuration
Good jobs my friend.
I hope you make a new challenge but between "ci5 7th vs ci3 8th "
You just can’t compare different computers who’s contain difrent CPU’s and memory’s dude!
Yeh memory point is valid but He is comparing the cpus what do you mean?
the i7 notebook has 2 times the ram of i5, 16gb vs 8 GB.. if the i7 has a m.2 ssd and the i5 has sata3 ssd, the difference in boot time is obvious, please specify all the specifications of both the notebook to help us to understand the comparison. Thank you for the useful job
Music name is summit emotional cinematic guitar
If you consider the boot times alone, then the best comparison of two laptops from same company. My laptop has 8250u i5 from Lenovo. It is faster than the dell shown here. Different companies install different boot setups.
You should compare with the same brand (e.g. Lenovo with intel i5 8th gen vs. Lenovo with intel i7 7th gen)
The music is kinda creepy but addictive
It's quite horrific.
Rob reports..great video ...btwfrom where did you get this music.... please share the name
would be good if tested with AC and not battery. because 8th gen have better hyperthreding?
That music tho ×.×

If u want to compare then compare a 7th gen i7 with 8th gen i7 or 7th gen i5 with 8th gen i5
I have been trying to find some one who would answer the question.
In 21 days I’m getting my hands on a Dell Inspiron 7590
i5 9th gen 9300H
8 go ram
516 go SSD
big thanks for the lovely music..
I have a lot of Laptops / Netbooks from different years / periodes. One is the LENOVO Ideapad 320 with follow ground components: i7 7500 U, only HD620 internal graphics🙁, 4 GB RAM internal, 1 TB HHD, 15,6 " HD Display. OK. I changed the most vs. 8 GB RAM added = 12 GB, 500 GB SSD Samsung Evo 850, Full HD Display. PS: It was a presentation model in a store, the battery was on the end! A new ordered battery isn't better🙁.
Wtf 300$??
I don't see that anywhere under 500$ even 2 years later
i5 comes with 4 cores while i7 comes with 2 cores ( i5 8250u is better than i7 7500u) another thing is that i7 is 1 year older
Valentin Risteski I agree, Ram and disk speed differences, make a difference. Also who buys an I7 with 2 cores, thats a joke. No one is buying computers with CPUs that are less than 4cores. Depending on the RAM cinfiguration, they could have taken one stick out of one machine, but in general this is a really flawed test, and basically pointless.
i5 8250U 4 Cores with 8 Threads
i7 7500U 2 Cores with 4 Threads
1 Threads is 1 logical CPU
so i5 8250U run with 8 Horse power
and i7 7500U run with 4 Horse power
I use core i5 latest gen and it runs fantastic. I was told the higher the number the faster. So used to think i7 would run faster but it's not always the case. Whether one has more or less cores, different clock speeds, it really depends on what you want it to perform on.
@@Monster33336 Hi Calvin,May I know which brand u have bought in i5 and which generation.
@@rohan.puthran3761
It's intel 8th generation with turbo boost technology.
Different memory speed, different disks, different resolution... Oh god
I think I would like to compare somethings between aeroplane and helicopter🤔🤔
Hey, common, wwhat is it ? Who has told u to compare cpu,s with such method? Different disks, differen fast boot configuration, different chipsets, different ram, differend operating system conditions. I'm upset.
I just got the Acer E5-576G-5762. It has the gen8 i5 with an SSD & hybrid 1 TB HD I put in. It loads very quickly, and runs great. The quad core is a big improvement over last gen dual, depending on what you are doing. I'm not a big gamer so I couldn't justify spending another $200 for the i7.
+Altair Ramar congratulations, I wouldn't spend the extra 200 either for the last gen i7. The i5 8250u is just as powerful or even more powerful.
segun el video lo que yo analizo las personas que compran un i7 estan pagando 96 usd mas por casi 3 segundos de diferencia, no se si estare en lo correcto, si es asi mi pregunta es, es negocio de intel??
Both laptops with different spec yet the 7th gen still managed to surprise me.
you can see wich is the better one just by comparing their cache memory. If the i5 has more cache you can be 99% sure he is better
Since when did you know the gender of processor
What if the processor is homosexual?
please i just subscribed to your channel please help me which should I choose for gaming between hp 15 core i5 8250u 1.60-1.80ghz 8gbram or HP pavilion 15 core i5 7200u 12gb ram 2.5ghz - 2.7ghz
You cant compare 2 different laptops they must be identical this means nothing
Nice compare
why compre two different manufacturer and two different configuration
While my laptop takes 15 mins to open .....
15 min? Change your HDD to and SSD. Or it's an netbook with solded memory? If so, oof
Me to🤦🏻♂️
But i'm going to buy new laptop after few weeks
@@Ghostsonplanets his laptop must be garbage... I've and Asus laptop from 2009 with HDD and it only takes 30-40 seconds to boot
I bought a 7200u laptop back in july 2017, a month before the 8250u was announced. Been a bit upset about that haha
Probably you got a good deal on the 7200u due to the timing
yea 410 for a lightly used one. a dell inspiron 13 5000. great value and a 1080p screen
the i5 is definitely better, I've done some research, it's as powerful as r3 1300x
I thank you for this comparison. People can say it’s not apple’s to apples but I disagree. I think it’s a fair Comp. Those other things can make a difference but overall they are basically interchangeable. The differences are negligible. So price makes the big decision point
Rob, inspiron uses a hdd drive hybrid while yoga uses full ssd right? Won't that made a difference in terms of performance just by itself?
I have the i5-8250U and it is a good processor :)
Your teally being duped by companies as of 2019 you can still use a i5 4 gen cpu no problem . i have a dell latitude e6540 2014 still good now as i am not a gamer and it can handle photo editing and video editing
It also depends on HDD or sdd
It's not just on HDD and SDD ....it's also about processors 👍👍
Very difficult to see what's going on on the screens in the video.
Perhaps mentioning the options. if both had the same hard drive or ssd is important, things like that
Anyone has the lockscreen wallpaper at 0:35 on the right laptop? thx
It's from Microsoft library
No.
this is great! I was just wondering what theri differences were
Which one i should choose. 6300HQ with gtx 960 or 8250u with mx130. I'll use it for corel, little video editing on premiere, and some game like GTA V
What a nice comparison!
A cheap cpu with an SSD. You're good with your office work and will have a cool battery life as well
Yep a i5 2 ghz 4 gb ram and ssd can do alot for average user browser skype email youtube even ohoto editing and video editing . You got people buying a i7 quad core 3.4 ghz 16 gb ram 4 gb graphics and 512 gb ssd and there just using basic things on it waste of money
Yeah buy used machine that use old processor likei5 2320m and get some SSD and set the OS and booting from the SSD. You got cheap and fast notebook...
My dell inspiron 13 inch with i5 8250u 8gb RAM and 256gb SSD boot in maybe 5-6 seconds... In this case the most important thing is the SSD (pcie express)
I was wondering which is better. An ACER Aspire 5 with a 7gen Intel Core i7-7500U Processor (4M Cache, up to 3.50 GHz), NVIDIA GeForce MX150 2GB, RAM 8 GB, 128GB SSD + 1TB GB HDD
, or the same ACER Aspire 5 but with a 8gen Intel Core i5-8250U Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.40 GHz), NVIDIA GeForce MX150 2GB, RAM 8 GB, 1TB HDD but without an SSD.
And by the way, the core i7 one is around $75 more expensive. Should i buy the core i5 and also buy an SSD for the $75 or go directly for the core i7. Thanks.
Good music 2
I think, i5 8250u is better, bcoz it has 4 cores and 8 threads but i7 7500 has only 2 cores and 4 threads. more threads helps better in multitasking. i5 8250 is next gen CPU and support better tech.
It is... i5 4core better than i7 2core
i have a question. given a choice, 8 gb ram, 256 ssd same. the only difference is 1. i5 8th gen with mx150 video card, the 2nd option. 2. i7 8th gen with uhd 620. which is better?
Im pretty happy with my i7-7600u to be honest i didnt have a choice in the matter tho
MrBasFed very nice
The difference between a 7300u+ and an 8259 in normal usage is precisely dick. The only difference is if you slamming all the cores for a long period like encoding video.
Does good video editing performance require more cores??
Which of these chip sets is better for video editing??
If you want to do a comparison, it should have the very least variance as possible. You could use an Asus laptop if possible. An Asus S510U have a lot of configurations.
There are:
Core i7-7500U + GeForce 940MX
Core i7-7500U + GeForce MX150
Core i5-7200U + GeForce 940MX
Core i5-7200U + GeForce MX150
Core i7-8550U + GeForce 940MX
Core i7-8550U + GeForce MX150
Core i5-8250U + GeForce 940MX
Core i5-8250U + GeForce MX150
Yes they have all of these configuration for their VivoBook S15. Top of the line includes 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD with 8GB of RAM. There are also a version that have 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD with 4GB of RAM.
Comparison and benchmarks of CPU can't be done on different laptops and it also depends on the disk speed and whether or not it has a ssd........... Comparison can be done with same laptops with exactly similar specs
I've noticed your screen on Dell flickers and not on Lenovo's laptop. What does this attribute to? Especially at 1:31, horizontal lines going up on the left laptop.
I read a lot and need a laptop with quality screen, non flickering. Any advice?
Also, I read a few threads and it seems Lenovo is prone to periodic hacks, backdoors and vulnerabilities when Dell doesn't have these issues, is it true?
It doesnt flicker when looked by eye. Colors are nicer on the Lenovo..richer colors... Securitywise..it used to be an issue with old lenovos. I think after a backslash they fixed it. I uninstalled all Lenovo apps anyway to make the system lighter anyway
Which should I get, the Acer e15 8th Gen 8250u i5 QuadCore 1.6 ghz but can boost to 3.2ghz geforce 150mx or the Acer R15 7th Gen 7500u 2.7 ghz boost to 3.4ghz GeForce 940mx Dual Core and it's touchscreen?
You can't compare this two machines because they have different specification unless you want to show how the dell I5 is close faster to the lenovo i7
This is a bit unfair cuz Lenovo computers always boot a bit faster
Deberías comparar ambos de la misma marca y modelo. Así ves solo la diferencia del i5 vs i7
which better to buy asus i5 8250 u (8g ram, nvidea130mx) or asus i7 7500u .(8 g ram, nvidea GT 920m) ? help plz..
Fun fact: core i7 7500u is only 4% faster than the i3 8130u! (based from userbenchmark)
I believe that... The i7 doesn't feel like an i7. I still use it everyday encoding suffers a lot if i browse the internet while encoding
Tendrian q tener la misma capacidad de ram algo puede ayudarle eso al i5
Pero sobre todo lo Ghz influye mucho
Would you recommend i7 7thGen 7700hq or i5 8th Gen for gaming purpose ?? Price doesn't matter in this regard !!!
+Akash Deep I think i7 7700hq is better. Also that i7 model usually comes with discreet graphics.
RobReports thanks for the help man it means a lot
Don’t waste your four minutes of life on this video!
Comparing two different machines is pointless. Results say nothing at all.
So, for complex apps and games the dell is better. And for simpler tasks the lenovo.
No, Lenovo is also as best as other brands.
Excellent. But Quad cores like Zbook are much bulkier and not cheap either, So i7 seems better.
which suits me more i5 7200u with nvidia mx940 4gb + 8gb ram (lenovo) or acer e15 (core i5 8250u 8gb ram + 2gb nvidia 150mx)

Absolutely Acer
thanks for the answers buy the acer is a good machine
Acer for 30-40% faster performance
Acer i5
Braian kbza acer e15 ofcourse, it has better processor and graphics as well.
Kindly compare with same company example both lenovo or dell; because my lenovo starts up in 10 sec which is i5 8th gen
The CPU clock speed is very different 1.6 (quad core) vs 2.7 (dual core) GHz, this is an unfair comparison. Meaningless.
Which one would be better for Photoshop and video editing?
i5 quad core or i7 dual core?
Photoshop is not very demanding so almost anything is ok however for Video editing... i5 Quadcore would be better. Having said that.. I use i7 dual core for all my videos..
RobReports Thank you so much for your advice.
people usually thinks in say = ghz better than core this is a false important is core and multi core performance :D
True! I wish i had the i5 4cores instead of my i7 2core.
Çok aşırı farklar yok
Dün i7 - 7400 aldım
SSD var önemli olan disk hızı bir yerde
I dont get the point of comparing these two processors. They are so different from each other and also one generation apart. Comparing with a quad core i7 like 7700hq could make sense.
This comparison is unfair, dell have base clock of 1.6 and Lenovo have 2.7 GHz. Both have similar turbo range as upto 3.5. But no machine is going to peak performance at that range all time.
What is the difference between an i5 9th gen and an i7 8th gen..which is ok for designing??
great test, great music!!
This is not a good comparison video. I thought you should have used exactly the same specs with the only difference between them being the 8th gen and 7th gen core i5 and i7 respectively.
boot time is determined by the hard drive ssd vs hdd. not the processor.
Maybe this because from different of SSD and HDD...
Both are SSDs... Dell Laptop much newer
i want to ask about lenovo ip 320 i7 8th gen ,8gb ram ,but its cpu speed is 1.8GH only... is it good or not fast and smooth ?
My dell 5580 boots in 5 sec, i5 7440hq , 256 SSD, 8gb ram
I disagree, I have dell vostro 5471 I7 8th Gen with 32gb ram and 512 m. 2 NVME but it takes around 7 seconds to boot to windows,
Unless you running windows 95
If you want to compare generations then manufacturer should be the same also the RAM, this isn't a just comparison.
the i5 core is supposed to use 3.4 ghz but my laptop with the same one says it only uses 1.6 ghz, why's that?
Which Lenovo model use in this video please tell me
