I have a very serious question about receiving possible unemployment benefits. I and my two children immigrated to this country (into California) and arrived on February 7, 2020. I arrived on a CR1 visa and joined my husband here at that time. I completed the necessary paperwork and received my Social Security card along with my green card many months later due to Homeland Security paperwork holdups, etc. I have been able to work for the last two months now after having received my green card and I cannot seem to find a job anywhere. I need to have some income coming in and I wondered if I would qualify for unemployment benefits under this kind of a situation. I am able to work, I am ready to work, but I cannot find any work, so should I give up or will I get some kind of unemployment relief even though I have never had a job in the United States due to the circumstances I list above?

I’m already a LPR and have been working continuously since 2019. I’m hesitant to ask for disability. I had major surgery and I’m in recovery for 8 weeks and don’t know if receiving disability is considered a public charge. I don’t want to affect my co sponsor in case it is. Can you please advise? Thanks for your help !!

Hi Michael, I'm going to schedule a consultation and just want to share with readers that in my 12 years of being on visas you stand out from the rest of immigration lawyers in knowledge and approachability. I have felt so empowered with your articles, videos, and look forward to hiring you for my next visa.

Hello sir , I applied for adjustment of status In October 2018 based on an approved vawa petition, I recently applied for the pandemic unemployment assistance (Pua) In December 2020 and got approved. I suffer anxiety issues as result of the abuse I went through with my ex. Will this be considered as a public charge? Note I ve been working until the pandemic.

Hi Michael. .My parents are licensed permanent residents and received a coronavirus relief cheque under the cares act. Will this classify them as a public charge when they apply for citizenship eventually or it doesn't apply to them anymore since they already have a green card?

Thanks for this video. I am on F1 for my PhD program since 2015 in Texas. Am I considered as the resident aliens for tax purposes? How about for getting the stimulus check $1200 due to COVID19? I actually received it, but not sure if it is considered as the public charge or not! I appreciate if you give me some advise.
    Thank you for your time!
    Nastaran
