Thank you for mentioning the Leave No Trace principle. As a former scoutmaster that was one of the most important concepts I would teach the scouts. You set a wonderful example on cleaning up the trash, even though it was not yours. Peace to your and camper.

I have to admit, Leave No Trace is still intimidating to me, especially like going to the bathroom. I normally don't carry a shovel with me, and so I've been sticking to National Parks, State Parks, because they have signage and readily available waste processing sites.

Camp Fire Girls alum 1970-79. We gals cleaned all day on a several Summer Saturdays to clean up wooded parks that had been trashed. Pull tops and bottle caps were everywhere then. Pick up trash as a young person and learn for a lifetime how gross it is to litter!!

After Hurricane Florence had caused massive rip currents and big tides through the OBX, I went to Duck, NC a few weeks after it came through. Despite not having a lot of people there, the beach was cluttered with trash that washed up from the ocean. So on Saturday the last full day I had, I picked up trash from the beach.

We used to be campground hosts and still correspond to other hosts and they say there is a new wave of campers that don't have a clue and do things older campers know is completely wrong.

Thanks for helping keep Mother Earth clean and beautiful! I try to take at least once a month to clean our local bike trails, while cycling with my trusty, compact dust pan and wisk broom, that I carry on those days. Also, my brother and his family make it a habit to clean the local beaches at the lake and when he and his wife, go kayaking with my husband and I , we all clean the campground areas and beaches at the lake together. It would be nice if everyone had this respect for the land. You are an awesome lady Nikki Delventhal! Hope your ACL continues to heal well..

yup people are selfish dirty careless scumbags. i try not to stress over it but when i drive or walk around places and everywhere you go theres trash lined up everywhrre on sides of roads etc, its hard to just smile on and pretend its all okay. its not. people need to be more responsable and use there head and care alittle bit. it saddens me deeply how big of a wasteland this earth has become. the whole earth is a landfill getting worse and worse

Before I got old, I use to go out in the CA desert to ride motorcycles with a group of families. We always brought back more trash than we created. Kudos to you.
Thx for driving in the right lane. I wish all drivers who do the speed limit or slower wud drive in the right/slow lane, so that speeders can use the left/fast lane to safely pas. You're a very respectful and safe driver..... love to Camper, and you of course 😉
It's the same up where I go mining! Pee flowers behind every tree! Pack it or bury it!
Had one spot where someone left their pack sitting on a bench with bottles and garbage. I shouted to see if anyone was around, and there was nobody in the parking lot. I then picked up the trash and took the pack. Thanks for the extra snacks, water, bug spray, and suntan lotion! The pack is now my vehicle's survival kit for if I have to walk to town to get help (around 50 miles).
We RV'd across the Midwest to spend a couple weeks in Colorado and Utah last year. It's amazing how many ignorant, selfish people don't care about ruining the very thing they are enjoying...
Definitely crazy how disrespectful some people are. I’m traveling around the country out of the back of my car with my pup right now and the broken glass is what grinds my gears the most. Always on the look out for it because I’m worried about my pup stepping on it and hurting his little paws
No one talks about it, but there's a lot of van life people with severe mental illness. It gets weird out there sometimes man.

Dude, I’m a native Californian… we have people coming in from other countries that need to be given classes on packing in and packing out… I know it’s affecting more and more of the Sierra… our local woods in Big Bear and San Gorgonio are just destroyed…I hate it!!! I have been camping in the Sierras all my life!!! It angers me!!!

Generally, I use the State Parks here in Minnesota. Sometimes the nearest trash can is at the far end of the row. I make several walking trips to the trash can every day. It’s worth every step.
I love how attentive Camper is when you are in super scenic places.
I showed my girlfriend a few campsites from Lone Pine's Alabama Hills to the whole Mammoth Lakes area this past few years and we both LOVE the whole area. Planning on heading back that way this summer. We definitely practice the Leave No Trace! ;)
Yeah, it's pretty gross what people leave behind. I've spent entire days of my life cleaning up after other people. The local lake had several old tires in it and it was miles from any road. Good to see you out there testing that knee! Jealous of the weather down there. It's 20's at night here in Washington state right now.

Love that you picked up trash, I would have done the same! Did you know you can buy a small pack of reusable ziplock bags and you can use them over and over. I have had mine for months now & you save alot of $$$ too and lessen plastic waste 👌😄 I got mines at Target, but I also found some at Grocery outlet.

Please get that dull headlight cleared up. For oncoming it looks terrible. For years I use a product called blue magic headlight lens cleaner. Buff it in with paper towel about once a month🙂 keeps your ongoing brightness for seeing better also. I also use the top of the line sylvania bulbs. Silver star ZXE. Good for a couple years . Happy living😁
Thank you so much for pointing out how important it is to not leave trash in our parks and wildlands!!! They've closed many of the DNR roads here in the PNW because jerks leave trash, tare up the roads with their vehicles, dump garbage, start fires and all sorts of things. It infuriates me and sad that people feel comfortable doing that.

Theese knives are made in the town of Mora, Sweden and even if the one you have is a basic model, Moraknives pack some serious historic punch dating back to the beginning of the 1900s. Manufacturing of knives in the region goes back as far as 400 years.
The Mora-knife company was started by Frost-Erik Erson, returning from a couple of years in north America as a lumberjack at the end of the 1800s.

When my kids were young, we always to took a few plastic bags with us hiking and picked up as much trash as we could. It's doesn't make the walk any less fun and it is super easy to do.

It sucks that people leave trash everywhere. Just a tip but in the middle of mountains on the highway above the Alabama mtns is a rental cabin nestled in a small canyon, The lady who owns it grows lilacs, she also had the coolest dogs.

I detest people who knowingly ignore LEAVE NO TRACE BEHIND! Thanks for picking up after others, Nikki, which should never have to happen. It is extremely inconsiderate to leave it knowing that you worsen the next person's experience by tip-toeing around your trash.

Hey Nikki ~ You've been traveling and camping essentially in m backyard (Mojave Desert) for the past few weeks. I'm an adult leader for my son's BSA scout troop and camped many places around here. Yes, it's shocking to see trash where it shouldn't be around here. It's unfortunate the closer you get to LA, the worse the trash gets even on remote trails. I'm especially upset with where we have found Starbucks cups. We always take trash bags with us to pick up the trash we find,. Unfortunately, we completely filled our bags a few times.
Fortunate God made this area so that it's still beautiful despite the trash.

Seems that so many new RVers, Vaners and campers just missed the part in their upbringings of "Clean up after yourself" I can pick up a bag of trash every weekend that I go out Jeeping, Hiking, camping etc. the thing is, people that trash the earth wouldn't care anyways if we loss those views. Thank you so much for doing your part and to the ones reading this that are doing their part too.
I can tell you what's happening...... people are getting more entitled, lazy, and nasty ! Very sad that you have too take time from your day picking up after people that have zero respect for anyone or anything.
If you’re around Lone Pine, CA again, there’s an old mining town called Cerro Gordo out there. A guy named Brent Underwood owns the town and is always in need of volunteers! There’s also stunning hikes out there :)

Amen for this video. I live in a large lake community, next to Mark Twain National Forest. From fall til spring it’s beautiful. Come summer the “ weekenders” come down and trash it.
I've got a 1,500W bucket heater. It's really 1250W I know I tested it. It's fast and easy . I #2 plug it in. By the time I get done I will use my digital thermometer to add water if too hot. Use a ice chest I modified for the task. 12V pump and I have plenty of water for a 105° shower.

Something very comforting having a dog near you whilst you sleep. I think the dogs know to look after us whilst we are at our most vulnerable, it is in their DNA from thousands of years of human companionship.

Thank you for being awesome. I was in the Boy scouts and was taught by my leaders when we leave the site it has to look like we never been there. As an Eagle Scout I passed my knowledge over to others about what I learned.
I would also encourage people to research any sacred lands you might be on, and respect any indigenous regions, cultures and practices while enjoying our beautiful Earth!
