YAY, great tip about the layers under you in your sleeping bag... very very good to know... when you stop for lunch do you give the dogs a snack or water too?? feeding the dogs is wild.. Dogs are just awesome!! WOW WHAT AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE!! wonderful... Looks like you are set up for success ... J
Yes the dogs got a small snack at lunch time and the first thing coming to camp as well because the food preparation took some time. We didn't give them water, though, they ate snow along the way if they were thirsty.

Sensitive question, but with no cover all around, where do you pee, etcetera?
Short answer - when you got to go then you make it work. Longer answer - often we camped near trees, bushes or made brakes near campsites where we could use the drop toilets.

That sleeping pad was inadequate without supplementary insulation so was there another type of pad available?
No, that was the only one. But the organizers also told us to layer our thick clothes underneath so it was actually a good learning point of using our gear in multiple ways.

ok so if i ever go with them, i need to bring my own xtherm or basecamp. weird that they didn't provide proper ground insulation when everything else is top-notch. is it just because fjällräven don't make high-tech mats?
I'm sure this wasn't the case as we had other companies stuff as well, not everything wasn't theirs. But I didn't ask as well about the mats because when using the clothes underneath everything was fine. So... maybe that's why they didn't give us more/different mats.
hmm. sounds like quite an oversight. you should have proper r-values underneath you when sleeping outside in the arctic winter. and no, youre not supposed to use your clothes..
That did seem strange considering all the other amazing gear they had to use!

The weather was very-very good and made things much easier. We were in many open fields and when the wind picks up it's very difficult to do everything. But it still was challenging and I learned a lot!
