      Too bad they didn't use Hilleberg tents which are designed in Sweden and made in Estonia.

    What a wonderful, fun challenge.
    I have found that the best way for me to condition my leather gloves is to put them both on and apply the oil or balm as if I were putting lotion on my hands and massaging it well into my skin. That way it all goes into the leather and not into a rag or my hands.

    Haha, when you talked about all the gear looking the same and then showed the shot of everybody taking out their backpacks from the bus I had a flashback to military service where all the gear also looks the same so the only way to find your stuff is to look for name tags :) And yes, things still did get mixed up, especially in tents.

    Very nice video. I noticed you were so happy you almost cried at the beginning, that was beautiful. You were issued a very nice kit. I'm always amazed at how much lighter the cold weather gear is now compared to the gear I was issued in the army. Our gear was mainly cloth, with some wool and later on synthesis were slowly intergrated. But one thing is for sure, no matter what the gear was made of, it was all bulky and heavy! I'm so happy they out fitted you so well.

    • @MaiuLunekund
      @MaiuLunekund  5 лет назад +1

      I have also used some army gear items in winter time and oh boy are they heavy! But I guess they are many times more durable as well compared to the lighter stuff. So you win in one area and lose in the other :)

    OMG that is a ton of gear.. Well done!!! OMG that is a lot of layers too... Yea just put your mark on every thing and ENJOY! looks like when it is all over .. your next hike in Estonia will be easy.. wow.. i am impressed. that is a cool painting of the blue jackets.... you should photograph the painting with the correct technique for photographing paintings and then in photo shop make any corrections needed (white balance ECT, you'll be looking at your work under a microscope so to speak) Then print them on the appropriate paper. i use a Epson 4880 and i can tell you that you cant tell the difference from the original. and because you use the full frame to shoot the painting, you can blow them up to 13 in x19 in or what ever size you want with absolutely no degradation. that is just in case you want to make some of those really really nice painting as presents to your team mates... what a great experience you are having, live it to the fullest, allow it to expand your mind, you are going to come away completely (Bad @$$) changed in the best way... Oh yea Dogs.. so awesome... you have a dog so it will be easy for you .. thank you for sharing what you do J

    Given, "gifted with" is not really English, gift is a noun, give is a verb. Gifted is an adjective 💚

    • @MaiuLunekund
      @MaiuLunekund  5 лет назад

      Okay, got it. How would you say if I want to express that something was given to me as a gift? Like "give" isn't always a sign of a gift. "We were given the gift of seeing..." maybe? Ps, love this language lesson! 😊

    so exciting. In winter I wear all those layers when I go out to do farm chores but when I was a child I wore much fewer layers and getting cold was just not something I remember with the exception of getting frostbite on my feet from staying out sledding too long. Every few years I buy a new winter coat and get as excited as you with your new coat. A good coat is like being in a warm safe room while being out in the frigid air.

      It was Fjällräven Polar 2019, a trip I applied to at the end of last year. I had to collect internet votes to get there and with the help of everyone I won the place to participate! There were 25 other participants all over the world and as many of them do not have experience with snow they did proper training to us starting with classes and all :)

    mushing is a popular winter activity in the colder states here in the US. You may want to connect with mushers when you get back home and consider building up a beginner team. The dogs are not house dogs, they need good sturdy pens and doghouses and lots of fresh raw meat for energy.

    • @MaiuLunekund
      @MaiuLunekund  5 лет назад

      Estonia is unfortunately too warm for properly managing a sled-dog team. Too little snow time in the winter :( Although I now there are some farms that do have sled dogs and they offer rides in winter time. So its possible.

    What’s happening here? What’s the goal? It looks like really great fun I’m not sure why we’re doing it... is there a cause?

    • @patriknydensten1363
      @patriknydensten1363 5 лет назад

      No real cause. Fjällräven Polar is a yearly event organized på Fjälräven where a group of people from around the world is invited to participate. It's a combination of marketing and giving back to the community and peeking peoples interest in the outdoors.
      See polar.fjallraven.com/ for info.

    • @MaiuLunekund
      @MaiuLunekund  5 лет назад

      Patrik said it very well. Basically it is a marketing event. Fjällräven says that everyone can survive and thrive in the cold with the right gear. But instead of big traditional campaigns they throw all the money towards the event and offer 20+ people every year to experience this arctic climate with the right clothing.

    Once you have all that winter gear on, it's tempting to try to find a way to leave it on until spring.
    It looked like you created a boot pit and a cooking shelf in the tent vestibule. Those are great conveniences when you have enough snow depth for them. I usually make the pit just wide enough for my feet so I don't have to lean over too far to cook.

    • @MaiuLunekund
      @MaiuLunekund  5 лет назад

      Making a smaller vestibule actually makes sense, I didn't think of that. But we did not use our stoves in the tent as we weren't so comfortable with them and we did't want to burn a hole in it :D But I did store my stuff on the "shelf" and it would have been nice if it would have been closer to the inner door of the tent.
