This is such a fantastic rendition of an already great song. I've listened to it many times now and I have to say that I like it even better than the original (and I don't say this often about covers). Tommy recorded, arranged, produced, mixed, mastered and performed this song himself.
I think you are one of few who actually understand the skill Tommy has in arrangement and in conveying what he has planned foe the song. I think that his greatest, of many great skills
Great reaction Eric. Spot on. You are tryly very talented in what you do. Tommys version of Phantom of the opera is vorth 5 minutes of your time. I guarnatee it. It shows his vocal range in a vonderful way. And creativity in playing both Christine and Erik. PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (OFFICIAL VIDEO) - Tommy Johansson
Fun fact. Tommy got this song as a request from a RUclipsr he did a guest appearance with. When he brought this song to Tommy he immediately knew the song and sang a phrase.
Tommy is from our dear neighbouring country and therefore considered our beloved "ReinXeed" multitalented boy. We all know that his love for power metal started after listening 2 finnish bands - Stratovarius and Sonata Arctica and you can clearly hear their influence in his band Majestic's albums. And Tommy loves to make cover songs just for the fun of it. Many wonders why Tommy is not the leadsinger on Sabaton. Hello! No-one can outweigh Joakim Broden. But Tommy is fantastic performer and songwriter.
Amen to your last sentences! 🤘 I've heard/read a lot of questions why Tommy doesn't sing in Sabaton (or sing more than he does now). Like you said, Joakim is an awesome singer and perfect for Sabaton's music. No one can do that better!! No matter how much we all love Tommy's talent. But do not forget that Sabaton has 5 great talented musicians and all of them do their part with perfection! 😊🤘
He so sounds like Klaus Mein here! He's always top notch. Always. I've been binge watching all his vids for three days and havent found one I didnt like. Truly.
Tommy is one of those special talented people who do about anything musically but he also has one of most beautiful male voices I've ever heard I know you played one majestica song not a real good one you should try their above the sky some of the best bass and guitar playing plus Tommy's singing God bless
Tommy has so many great covers that won't trigger you..he is a big talent. Yes to everything you said about Dee and the recording times...and yes to Tommy's subtle mimic/tribute to Dee's vocals.
I love these regular covers Tommy puts out. He is very gifted musically - guitar, keyboards, great vocal range. Would have been a blast if he had been his current age in the 1980s!
I've been looking forward to you starting on Tommy's stuff. His cover of Queen's 'Who Wants to Live Forever' is absolutely the best Queen cover that exists.
Tommy is so awesome. he is really good at keeping the tone of the songs but making it new and fresh. im so proud of the guys in Sabaton and to be from Sweden :)
Tommy is an AWESOME SINGER and a MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST. Brilliant! 💙💛 This Song is EPIC 🤘 Thanks for reacting to Tommy 🙌 🆃🅾🅼🅼🆈 is AMAZING 🥰 He does the Whole Phantom of The Opera 🎭 ALONE!!! 🎸🤍💙 really true 👌 Thank you I appreciate it ❤️ love from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
I enjoyed your reaction. I agree Tommy brings something to his covers that adds something to the original and makes great songs greater! It's his particular genius.
i've said this on Tommy's YT channel..i fully expect he would be able to do a solo tour within the next 10 years. Kinda like how Floor has done on the side with Nightwish
Nice reaction! This has always been my favourite Twisted Sister song, and Tommy crushes it, improved it 1000%! I got into Tommy because RUclips suggested Majestica after I started listening to Dan Vasc. Please 🙏 check out Dan's channel. I suggest The Last Stand, a Sabaton cover, or Tale With No End by his band Fearless(it's original music, not a cover), or any of his five newest releases, especially Dawn Over A New World and Dawn of Victory, done with Fabio Lione himself and Dan's band, Fearless. Honestly, though, I think all 200+ songs are great, from his awkward first video when he was just 20(The Last Journey Home) to his newest, at age 33 now, a cover of Dr.Stein. I've been a fan since I first heard Sound of Silence on 9/15/20, and I've never loved any singer more. Tommy is a close second, though.
I concur, the 80's metal/rock had some awesome singers. Dio, Dickinson, and Geoff Tate come to mind immediately. Sabaton suggestions??? OK. Try the animated story videos for No Bullets Fly and/or Night Witches.
Hi. You might want to check out Tommys new cover of he’s own song ” The Light ” when the band was called ReinXeed before they changed it to Majestica. It’s awesome!!!
That era was called Satanic Panic. Rock n Roll was very targeted. I remember Rob Halford had to defend the music whilst the prosecutor was playing a record backwards. Crazy times!
Thank you for your reaction. I know we are way past Christmas now but can I suggest you to react to Tommy Johansson's version on Oh, holy night (O Helga natt in Swedish, which is the language he sings it in). You will not have another Christmas song favorite after listen to this one, I promise! :)
When it comes to Sabaton you ought ot try on "Devil Dogs" (about the battle of Belleau Wood), 82:nd all the way (about Alvin York), No Bullets Fly (animated story), Defence of Moscow (about the German offensive into Russia) and Christmas Truce (about the spontaneous truce during December of 1914 during WWI) to name a few. When it comes to Tommy.... pretty much anything he's done though two of my favorites, where he's done his own take on the songs, are Green Days Basket Case which he's done a symphonic metalversion of and 883's Una Canzone D'amore which he's gone crazy on and if you read the comments from the italians they're absolutely extatic about it.
I fully agree with the "homage" versus straight cover distinction, and this is quite impressively the former. There is, however, a third style - a reimagining. - where Tommy takes a classic and truly makes it his own. Please get back to Tommy soon - here's an example of each: Homage - quite possibly his best work on Gary Moore's incredible "Empty Rooms", letting his guitar skills shine: ruclips.net/video/5qkQwnJdgpo/видео.html Cover - a perfect rendition of Skid Row's classic ""18 and Life" - He does Sebastian's vocals to a "T": ruclips.net/video/ijvOkoAQqzM/видео.html Reimagined: turning Elton John's "I'm Still Standing" into a fun power metal ballad/rocker: ruclips.net/video/gpXj8fNFr8M/видео.html
Thanks of alogrithm! This is the way how to reacts videos! I see you have very very long expereince of music (listening, industry). Subscribed and shared!
An interesting fat is that Twisted Sister was the first indication that Joakim Broden, the vocalist/keyboardist for Sabaton, was a metalhead. His mom found him rocking out to the video of "We're Not Going to Take It" when he was three or four so she bought him the album. And the rest, as they say, is history...or maybe Sabaton History.
Eric, I know how much you like Emmpu and Jukka from Nightwish so, may I suggest Planet Hell video, they seem to spend more time on Emmpu and Jukka. Jukka's intro is killer, and one of my favorite Tarja songs!!!
I have never heard the original myself, but if this is any indication than it's a great song. Does that mean you will start reacting to Christmas songs soon? If yes, than I suggest Lindsey Stirling's version of "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch".
RUclips kicked me off your channel as a subscriber at some point, apparently. Ran across Tommy Johansson recently, remembered you, and came back to see if you've done any reactions to his videos -- of course you have! I am surprised and puzzled by the stats: 13K views on this one after a year with only 691 thumbs up. What's up with that?!
The thing that "metal or (hard) rock singers are just screaming and shouting" is an opinion that really irritates me. First of all that opinion shows very little knowledge of what those people are talking about, since the metal and rock singers are not even singing loudly all the time. They have nuances, too, if people would just take some time to listen more than one chorus of one song. And if loud singing is screaming or shouting, then what about for example Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera or Whitney Houston - they have (or had) powerful voices, too. And gospel singers... And opera singers, they are the loudest ones. 😅 Even some modern pop singers can be quite loud, too. I have always liked powerful voices, long before I even started to listen to metal. Celine, Whitney and Jennifer Rush were my favourite singers when I was younger. 😊
This is such a fantastic rendition of an already great song. I've listened to it many times now and I have to say that I like it even better than the original (and I don't say this often about covers). Tommy recorded, arranged, produced, mixed, mastered and performed this song himself.

Yeah, Given Toe's reaction to Sabaton's Race to the sea, you get a sense of Tommys personality, humble and funny!
He Literally plays all the instruments and mixes it himself. He is a Rock God in my opinion.
His latest Gary Moore cower Empty rooms is epic

@@lionfromthenorth4580 And Joakim is soooo.. charismatic and has a lot of sexual appeal.
you gotta love it when Joakim "makes" Tommy sing covers durting their recent North America tour, kind of challenging him to sing as high as he can.

I loved this song with Dee Snyder and Tommy is really doing it justice. Also, deep respect to the one that put the video together, awesome!👌
I've been looking forward to you starting on Tommy's stuff. His cover of Queen's 'Who Wants to Live Forever' is absolutely the best Queen cover that exists.

Tommy is so awesome. he is really good at keeping the tone of the songs but making it new and fresh. im so proud of the guys in Sabaton and to be from Sweden :)
the man would of been a huge star back in the 80s as a lead singer. he has that 80s great classic voice.
Yes, he does. Well said.
Definitely one of my favorite songs & video by Twisted Sister in the 80's. Great cover & reaction
My first time hearing you, not last for sure. It's a pleasure to hear you, beautiful voice and analysis. Also, I love Tommy's work, always
My favorite TS song. I forgot about it until about 2 months ago. Now I can’t get enough of it again.
Wellwell, l'm maybe not a big fan of Twisted Sister, but could easily see me as a fan of Tommy Johansson. And your fan, Eric, l most definitely am. 😎👍
Told you this was a great rendition by Tommy!
@@martine3293 Yes, you told. 😅👍
My Twisteds best song.
Tommys is an multiinstrumentalist so ewerything you hear it's Tommy Ewen the production and mastering
Yes, he does everything except filming (his girlfriend does that)
Man that song brought back a lot of cool memories. Thx.
👍😇 your reaction should go to Sweden, to Tommy🎶. He does soooo much. Interesting reaction👏

I really like the way you break down and analyze the songs in detail. Thanks for a great reaction.
The baseball park hes walking in is Fenway Park in Boston...Awesome show!
I soo appreciate your "not reactions" and expertise brought forward without condescension. Thank you!
Stay Hungry was the first record I ever owned. My "cool" Uncle got it for my 7nth birthday. The Price have bin my no1 Rock/metal ballad ever since.
incredible, in depth reaction! Thank you.
Tommy has blown my mind, He's given me chills like "For Cryin Out Loud" gives me every time by Meatloaf
I concur. Steady follower of your awesome stuff you deliver.
his voice is amazing, reminds me hair metal star Sebastian Bach mixed with Bruce from iron maiden
That reminds me of something you never reacted to: Northern Kings. And that too is a rabbit hole, too many strands to untangle.
He has! He reacted to Take on me and loved it :D
Yes he did, it was sold to him as a Finnish Boy Band 🤣😂🤣
Faithfulness and respect to the original
They should absolutely use him more with high/lows interacting with each other.
I enjoyed your reaction. I agree Tommy brings something to his covers that adds something to the original and makes great songs greater! It's his particular genius.
Great reaction! "Young man" seems to be right... He doesn't look it, but the guy is 35!

His voice reminds me of the singer in Scorpions. I never heard this song before. Not bad. But not great either.
agreed but he has done loads of stuff besides tis tgat i find gret. give him some more chances and you might too love from Sweden
May I suggest ruclips.net/video/wokvPj8KXO8/видео.html LORDI - Merry Blah Blah Blah a great old-school metal tune.
