  • This was the FIRST time I've driven a race car...
I managed to get my hands on the Ginetta G56 GTA, on a track at Blyton Park!
If you've ever wanted to drive a race car or you're considering getting out on the track, this video is an honest account of what it's really like for a first timer. No frills or perfect edits, so get ready to laugh! 😂
In this video you'll see everything:
From learning how to start a racing car, to understanding the MOTEC system, driving on a track in heavy rain and being coached by a professional racing driver... I experienced it all and vlogged it. Epic fails included!
A huge thanks to Ginetta for the amazing experience in their GT car.
A thank you also to Jamie Falvey for the coaching and giving me confidence on the track.

There are a few of us that do quite a few track days all year round in a few different types of car. You are more than welcome to come along if you wanted to record more content.

I'd love to have a road version of a Ginetta in the US, normal stick shift, 3 liter V6, like a Mazda MX-5 coupe with real power.

Wicked! You should go 1 on 1 with Hamilton! When Jimmy said it's 150 is that mph or kmh?
The next few driving I would like to see you do is drifting and rally off road racing! So exciting!

@@SHETALKSCARS Any Tips? Oh crikey, Wait, let me channel in Ayrton Senna.....
Hi Abi, Get as near to a go-kart to hone your skills, in a lightweight rear wheel car with no power steering, no ABS, no electronic aids, on narrow wheels, so you learn at very sensible speeds to push the chassis, suspension and tyres to their limit to loose/slip the rear controllably, using the senses in your hands and bottom…Seriously…and applying anti-lock to bring it back with ease.
Most accessible cars to learn that on UK race tracks at low cost is a lightweight Elise, Caterham 7, etc, in the 600-800 kg weight bracket.
You’ll very quickly learn how to get smooth stable, precise motion in tight corners, hit the apex with less role and heave, and increase your confidence in turns to push thereafter heavier electronic laden sports cars to their limit, that have anti-roll (sway) bars to overcome their weight and complexity .
If you reduce or eliminate erratic motions in a sports car, you’ll have a more stable experience with increase confidence in turns.
GRY is an all-weather B-road bomber, but it take allot more speed to learn its limits on dry roads/track and therefore have a high risk of binning it.
Shhhh … Little secret, 1st GRY garage test drive, naughty boy, done 100-110 mph on small B-roads to find its limit, so not practical for learning :-).
      Success Abi, Ayrton.

@@SHETALKSCARS Haha no not quite. More, I must have walked every inch of the track, (and then some) for photography purposes. I can tell you one thing, you don’t want to be attempting to climb through those thorn bushes over the armco any time soon…
