If you are NOT running 10 social media windows at the same time, you are going to really love this laptop. AS Chris says, his heat sink mod is not necessary unless you open up the power limit and game or otherwise reallly push the gemini lake.

Thank you for this :). I got mine a few days ago, and went ahead and did your copper shim mod on it, used a nail file to expose copper in the right spot, and unlocked the power limit with throttlestop, can maintain max clock almost indefinitely around 10.3-11.8w and temps stay below 80c

Thanks for the detailed unboxing and review videos!
I've bought this lapbook SE as a result. So far happy with it!
However I have a question, whether have you tried swapping the Forsee SSD with an M.2 NVMe SSD? I'm not sure whether the Apollo Lake/chipset supports NVMe, but apparently there's a setting for it in BIOS?
Thanks and keep up the good work!

I've got the teclast f5 which I chose over this because of the ram. This is a pretty laptop. I prefer the power key location on the chuwi over the teclast. That's for sure. I accidentally hit the power key on the side very often. Also the 2 usb 3 ports on the chuwi are a big plus. No random micro usb port like on the teclast. I look forward to your review on the teclast.

I think I will when I get the Teclast and use it. But yes I can see already for the ports and the size the Lapbook might suit my needs more. I hate using dongles and fine 11.6" a little small. However the 8GB of RAM and touchscreen is something I look forward to and Teclast's build has been very good lately. Will be hard to decide on which one I keep.

I've watched and seen from your video that those backlight bleed from 7:25 to 7:47 is just normal for IPS screens. Can I have permission to qoute you just as reference to our Pocophone group. For all people wondering about 4GB of RAM - they most likely didn't go for 8GB because not only that laptop would cost more with that more expensive memory - it would also cost more because Windows license is pricier if manufacturer wants it for device that has more than 4GB of RAM.

4gb of ram is definitely not enough.
I have the Chuwi Lapbook 12.3 (previous model) with 6gb and I hit the limit often with lots of Chrome tabs.
Let's wait for an 8gb model....
Gaming test would be cool in the full review, thanks!

Because people love to have a lot of chrome tabs open in the background, although its totally not efficient, myself included.
Its not that much of a nauseance, but its always nice to have a chrome tab open instantly from RAM memory than reloading completely.
On the low-end PCs I think its a pretty good deal, it would be better if they improved the low-end processors.
The dual-core celerons and AMDs and atom processors really have no place in 2018. I would know, because I am writing this on a celeron n3060 and after a few weeks I realized, I fucked up, cause its the only thing thats not upgradeable and soldered onto the motherboard and it will bottleneck every upgrade I make.
Anyways, my rant is over. Thoughts?

For reference it takes me around 10-12 Chrome tabs before I run into freezing/slowing down as pages are swapped out. So not a lot with 6gb of ram....
The N4100 probably has a decent performance boost over N3450 and the ram speed is faster, so with 8gb it would be decent for day-to-day tasks.

    • @Saul700
      @Saul700 5 лет назад +1

@@nedimsisic2370 Yeah.. no amount of RAM or an SSD will help you with that chip. But hey, N4100 is good for office documents, web browsing and media (music/movies), so if you need to do anything heavier than that, then it's time to upgrade. I'd say wait till Q3 2019 I bet i5 will be cheaper.

Damn, just wished that the screen wasn't laminated.
A very good looking laptop with great specs and good battery life, the 4GB of RAM should be fine if using Linux rather than windows.
