As I watch this, I realize that it’s okay to practice and practice, one petal at a time. When I feel confident, I will dare to use better quality paper. Practice, admire progress and practice some more. Watercolor is such a joy. Let the water do the work! Thank you for teaching us. We are grateful. ❤
A very thought provoking comment Sula, I love it! Practice is definitely key to ANYTHING we want to improve on in our lives isn’t it? 🥰 I know I wasn’t very good at watercolors at first, it’s taken me 10 years to get the hang of it….and I feel like I’m still learning new things all the time! Ha ha! 😅 (I also still use cheaper paper to practice on, it can be a little costly otherwise.) I’m so happy you continue to give watercolor a try, because you’re right…. It is such a joy! Thanks for your comment today. 😊
Did undermine using good paper to practice on though. The effects you are expecting when practicing may not show because the good paper is what would have given you the result you wanted. You could just practice on a smaller scale :) I had to learn "smaller scale" lol cause I always want to jump in big or go home 🤦🏽♀️
What you create, what you share, what you demonstrate, what you bring into this world are all of a peace: beauty and calm. As someone who often feels intense emotional distress, I can tell you that *you* bring *GOOD* things into being for everyone, and, most especially, to those in need of a moment of blissful peace. Thank you, Liesl!
Oh my goodness Jessie….I don’t even know what to say, that is just about the kindest most thoughtful thing anyone has ever said to me! 🥲 Thank you so much for your lovely comment, you have brought joy and sunshine into my soul!☀️ I hope you know how much I appreciate you and your support. I hope you have an absolutely fantastic day, you are so deserving of it! 🥰

Thanks so much Colleen. 🥰 I’m so happy that you like this painting, it was so much fun to do and I’ve been so excited to share it! I hope everything went well with the sale of your house and that you are getting settled in again! 😊
@@lieslsartisticstudio not quite yet, we go to auction Monday week. Which I’m a bit nervous about, I never had an auction before. Lucky my daughter is going to step in for me, I’m so lucky to have her. ❤️❤️
I’m so glad you like my videos. 🥰 I hope you give painting a try, it can be very fun and relaxing. Don’t worry if it takes some time to get the hang of painting with watercolors, the more you practice, the better you will get. ❤️ Take care my friend.
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment Madonna. You are someone who helps keep me motivated to put out these tutorials. 🥰 I appreciate you and your kindness. Have a fabulous day! You deserve it!

I’m so happy to hear that you liked this painting. 😊 I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment! Have a lovely day Beatriz, and happy painting!
Love this painting. I really appreciate your step by step instructions. I learn so much and am trying more techniques -- some times not so good but often better than I thought -- and I'm learning and more adventurous. Thanks again for sharing.
I’m so happy to hear that you continue to try new things! I am confident that you will just keep getting better and better! 🥰 I appreciate you so much for watching and commenting today Joyce, it means a lot to me. Happy painting my fellow artist!
I’m sure your painting is beautiful in its own lovely way! (And it doesn’t have to look like mine, that’s just a guide.)😉 However, if you’re not satisfied, you can always try it again another day. I’ve had to do that many times myself over the years! Even just recently I had to paint something over again 3 times to get it the way I wanted, so don’t feel discouraged! 🥰 Thanks for your continued support Eithne! (And yes, that is me playing the music in the background, that’s sweet of you to ask! 🎶)
I love this almond blossom painting. I also love the music playing in the background. I was wondering, what is this instrumental music? I couldn’t see where you listed it?
Hi Rita! I’m so happy that you liked this painting! I’m also glad to hear that you enjoyed the music! This piano piece is actually a song that I composed, recorded, and am playing myself in the background. 🥰 Thanks for watching today!
Hi! Thanks for your question, hopefully I can clarify for you. 😊 The whole first half of the painting it’s wet on wet. I paint the initial layer of light tinted water on the petals, then while that is wet I add darker areas that can bleed and blend. Then at about the 9 min. 40 sec. mark in the video, (after all the petals now been painted and are now dry) I do start doing wet on dry to the petals to add in some extra/even darker areas to the petals, so I guess it’s a little of both. 😊 Hope this gives the clarity you need!

Very true, quality paper can give a different effect, practicing on a smaller scale is a good idea.

Very lovely. I use tinted water (not dirty) for pale values in first washes. I didn't realize other artists did, too.

When you added the darker colour to the petals, was that wet on dry ??? I couldn't really tell. thanks Liesl.
