THIS OLD OUTBOARD thank you so much! I have one more question. Mine has the primer system instead of electric choke. So could I just put one with electric choke on there some how?
Oh also! last question i swear! haha. Where / how are you supposed to set the advance stop! The one thats on the starter. Its a screw/ rubber end that the mag plate hits and stops rotating! Where are you supposed to set that? if you have a video on that Ill check it out i couldn't find any,.or you could send this to KODI get his advise haha
Hey sorry Had to run. But no, dont mess with it if its not loose or missing. What are you working on anyway? Its the high speed spark advance stop screw. I had one that was loose, so I ran the motor at full throttle then stopped and turned it out a couple turns, then ran it again and repeated the process a few times. turned it in and turn it out, it didn't seem to make a difference where it was set so I just locked it down and left it alone. But I think its suppose to be set at high speed.? Or maybe right at full throttle.? I wouldn't mess with it if its locked down. Check the manual!
THIS OLD OUTBOARD yes high speed spark advance stop screw sounds right lol. It’s not locked down but can only go so far screwed in. If that makes sense. I’m putting together a 1982 35hp tiller that has electric start. Im recording for my channel now but this motor may never hit the water. I’m reading the manual as we speak! Thanks again.
@@BlackoutBilll21 Does the screw have a mark on it from where it had been set. You know the threads are darker from exposure than the threads that were in the mount whole. If it does just set it back as close as possible.

Hey. You'll have to do your homework on this one. If you look at the parts schematic you can see that the high speed orifice/jet might be all you need to swap out. But like I said, do some homework and compare carbs/intakes/reeds to the 35 models of that year range and maybe even exhausts, especially the carb and intake. Some of those 25hp carbs have a smaller venturi/throat and the same thing goes for the intake. I'm trying to get an '82 running... I see you don't have a neutral start switch on that one. First I thought I could live with accidentally leaving it in gear while trying to start it.. then I thought the bigger issue would be accidentally hitting the start button while buzzing along. You think that's an issue?
Hey. Well, I've hit the start button thinking it was the kill button, but that was only a couple of times before I got use to it. I just kept telling myself, "starter motor on this side, starter switch on this side". And I've started it in gear plenty of times but only at idle speed in open water which is no big deal. When I'm trolling and a fish hit I would kill the motor while in gear, then afterwards hit the start button and continue trolling. But never have I started it in gear at start position/high idle on the throttle except for once. Hahaha and it was scary, luckily I was tied to the dock and hit the kill switch fast. That was on another motor a long time ago. So since then I've been using the same procedures for cold start for a long time and the first one is to make sure I'm in neutral! So I think if your able to get use to a procedure it won't be an issue. Just keep thinking its a safety thing! Thanks for watching and commenting. Stay tuned !
