@@Zbroification Moroni 8 is specifically referring to little children. We don’t perform baptism for the dead for those who died in infancy. Everyone who has reached the age of accountability knows the difference between good and evil, whether or not they had the fullness of the gospel taught to them. All will be condemned based on their knowledge. We know from the Bible that there is the ability for repentance after death. See 1 Peter 3:18-20 and 1 Peter 4:6. Those who repent and accept the baptism on their behalf will enter into the kingdom of God.

The assumption is that those who repent accept the baptism on their behalf while those who don’t repent don’t accept it. Trying to determine if baptism comes before or after their repentance doesn’t make sense because time is only measured by man. If they want to accept it they will have the opportunity because God is not a respecter of persons and desires all to be saved.
You can’t add to scripture . So by your teachings babies go to hell if not baptized and die !! And at the same time call God merciful .. totally contradicting. Babies automatically go to heaven .. also dead cannot repent no more or choose to have faith once they die
You have explained the relationship between the customs/beliefs of the saints at Corinth and the principle of the resurrection well. Paul and Peter, other apostles, and leaders of the ancient Church, taught very clearly that there most certainly was a resurrection. However, the practice of baptisms for the dead is not an incorrect tradition or belief. It was a part of the ancient Church and a necessary part of providing equal access of baptism for all of God's sons and daughters, even those who have passed on before hearing the message of Christ. To better understand this you need to take into account what actually happens upon dying. The physical body may be cremated or buried, but the spirit of the individual continues to live and proceeds to a spiritual realm where it awaits the resurrection of all mankind where the body and spirit will be reunited. The Lord himself (Christ) taught to the spirits of the dead while in that spirit world prior to his resurrection (see 1 Peter 3:18-20; 4:6). The Gospel of Jesus Christ is taught therein to all spirits who depart this life. There, they may continue to exercise their agency to accept or decline the message of Christ. However, in order to be baptized, they must have the ordinance done on earth on their behalf - hence the practice of being baptized for the dead.
My mom got saved 5 months before she passed on, shse spent most of that time in hospital being very ill from a brain bleed brought on by the 2nd shot of moderna CVD vaxx, back in May of 2023 appearently this is a comon effect of the moderna vaxx anyways we never thought of even mentioning it to her so she never was baptized this morning Sunday Oct. 6 2024 I woke up and this came to my mind the baptism for the dead and I asked the pastor of our church about this, did the church ever practise this! she said the church never does this but she would look it up in context so she and I are both at it, anyways i can bring thi before her and it will be left at that I guess, I wasn't sure if Gd was wanting me to go through this on my mom's behalf not that it makes a difference to her salvation, but I was wondering if this was from God or what ws happening? anyways this answers my question but why would this be in my mind was it from God or not? this is still a thought I have carried all day.
I am so sorry to hear of what your Mom went through. It no doubt was difficult for you and all her loved ones as well. To say that we made a religion out of a single verse in the Bible (especially this verse) is a misunderstanding of our history. Our church was founded in 1830. The practice and doctrine of baptism for the dead did not start until it was revealed and commanded in 1842. It was only 1.5 years later that Joseph was killed for his faith.
