I'm just now getting serious about drawing. And I'm constantly shocked by how much more is involved with drawing then I thought, such as the shadows, fabrics of clothing the anatomy and structures of muscles and more. It's SO much to grasp, but I'm really excited about getting my drawing tablet.
+clicker59 Agreed. I got a tablet on impulse, and I've learned how to use it, but it would've been so much easier if I stuck to traditional work early on.
You should also stick to getting used to wrinkles in real life, lets say if someone punched a person in the stomach, there would be a change between just on the floor, and punched on the floor, but otherwise, there isn't much to include.
I'm happy i started taking drawing seriously at a young age, like around 4 or 5, so learning new things wasn't overwhelming to me, it just kinda came with age
I hate how when I watch these tutorials, im like "Hell yeah, I can do that" and when I attwmpt to do them, im just like "Shit. I cant do that." Every. Single. Video.
Maybe you're watching the wrong videos? You should start first at the fundamentals. Like practicing your lines and curves until you get comfortable with them then moving on to proportions then practice it a lot of times, etc.. Mastering the basics gives you confidence on learning the next level and you don't get easily discouraged when you can't get it the first few times.
dude, if it wasn't for this channel and your spot on teaching skills, i would have gave up by now. I'm working on several animated series' including sonic the hedgehog and uncharted. before, i would have a hard time even tracing a figure, but now. i can sit at a table, nothing but a blank piece of paper and draw any character pretty much spot on in under 10 minutes. I'm proud to tell you that this channel could potentially get me my dream career of children's animation. and if i do, i will mention you and thank you tons. you are the best. thank you so much. my work was also noticed by famous actor and producer, Gabriel Caste.

Draw with Jazza jazza ?one question you said that ,when the fold gathers in the cloth ,we have those line affects what i want to ask is why we make the lines in lose fit thin material cloth both horrizontal and vertical in those places but in the thick material and the rest we haven't vertical lines and only horrizontal ? Shouldn't the gravity force also affect the rest of the materials and for drag it down so we can have vertical lines instead of only horizontal lines sry for the lame question.
Angel Chan I know it's been 7 months but if you still need help, try imagining the arms as the legs but more of the leg shape. You can also look at references.
Its not too many differences, but the creases depend on 1.) How the legs are bent and where they are bent and 2.) If the pants sag over the feet or not. The pants, unlike shirts, don`t exactly hang over your legs. Instead, they follow the flow of the leg so you may not need as many lines as the shirt which sag over your shoulders, arms, etc. Hope that answers your question.
I just took a mile long leap forward in my skills, in the last three hours. I watched this, and female body and the hair tutorial and damn, Jazza. I made more progress in 3 hours than I did in 2012 and 2013 year combined! Not even exaggarting (my spelling is bad, I know)! So glad I stumbled across you're channel. You got one more really happy subscriber!
My second video of yours (following the "How to draw Cloth" video) and I am proud to say that nearly instantly after watching and following along, my art skills have improved 100%. The clothing I draw looks so different- even I'm pleasantly surprised and I'm the biggest critique of my own artwork. I've been wanting to create fashion illustrations for centuries and now I actually can. I don't know what it is that makes you different from all the other artist instructors I've been watching since I was a kid, but man you're a miracle! Thank you so much! Subscribed, liked, and now commented :D
Jazza, I was wondering if you could do a tutorial on how to color or paint clothes. When I do it they tend to look somewhat plastic like and I always confuse myself on where to add the shading when there are a lot of folds. Thanks, your videos are immensely helpful!
Its actually embarrassing for the college where i studied illustration, as these videos have just taught me more than they ever did in the entire year i studied there. You are an excellent tutor.
For me drawing is complicated because there is so much to learn i was of drawing for about 3 years because it never looked right but now i want to learn how to draw again and this video is a great help cloths have always been something i could never get right will definitely be practicing this method thanks :)
These tutorials are very useful. Trying to learn all this stuff without videos/books/references such as this and adapt it to my own style as well, has been a nightmare. This information is actually making character design, posing, and other things much more relaxing and fun again. And is inspiring many things in my head. Now if only I had more time to draw them...
I'm intermediate, but I consider these videos great! Two years ago I thought his videos, (especially this one) were waaaaay to advanced, though! So, yeah... you might wanna check these out when you're intermediate-ish?
I'm intermediate and definitely still learning, but I like to learn from my imagination. Aren't there a group of muscles on the hips that lead into the legs? *ponder* Yeah. *adds hip flexors*
Awesome tutorial! I actually just thought of this: For anyone looking for more examples, google snow from The Wolf Among Us. The cartoon style of the game makes the wrinkles in clothes especially easy to see and Snow's coat is an excellent example of a tight, thick material coat
I never really believed in using drawing tutorials, they never actually seemed to teach me anything.. Until I found your channel. You've been a really big help. Thanks man :D
I've been looking for this so freaking long. Thank you! This is amazing. Great description while drawing. Thanks for the video Jazza. Now that i've gotten more comfortable with drawing the figure the next step is figuring out how clothing works on them. This helps a lot with the issues I've been having so far, thanks!
thank you for demonstrating how cloth works. I swear every time I try to draw cloth on my drawings, it ends up looking like a deformity in their skin than cloth itself. once again, thank you soooooo much! :)

It looks simple enough but you can't get your hand to make a perfect circle

AD VG It's because of the type of clothing.

Ooof, top tier tutorial, but that exposure on his camera haha, I've gone further back than I realized.
