I'm honestly impressed by how beautiful that part of Africa was, many people just describe africa as poor, starving, desserted, etc. even if that's only some parts of Africa
Because it's both? :D Africa is incredibly diverse, but being "poor" or rather incredibly unfair distribution of wealth and exploitation is a common i think.
I have subscribed. As a Zimbabwean, i really appreciate the positive feedback on our country. Of course there is a lot that needs to be worked on and a lot we can learn and improve as a country. Loved your positive energy and vibe. Well done bro
Those birds we heard and you focused on were the Purple-crested Turaco (Tauraco porphyreolophus), also called the Purple-crested Lourie. Stunningly beautiful. As an ex-Zimbo, the house I grew up in not too far from where you stayed, was always visited by them.
The York Lodge looks very nice and peaceful and a big contrast of what we see in the media of country is with its bad situation and high inflation…nice video & wish you luck in getting on the iconic 737-200🙏🏻
I live in Zimbabwe after spending a decade studying and working in Europe. Best place in the world. Don't let the media dictate your view on our part of the world.
Just returned from a trip t 🇿🇼 and SA, and the moment I left it, I missed it so much.😢❤️❤️❤️ Absolutely beautiful land, people and a trip of a lifetime, so I had to see ur video as we did not do inly Vic Falls and Dete, nor did we fly in Air 🇿🇼. Love the ERJ, which for a narrow body acft is quite comfy and svc onboard is quite nice; not one single delay in all 11 flight segments of our trip. Fully recommend Zimb and SA but I can't wait to get back to Africa ❤
Vic Falls is one of the most stupendous bits of a beautiful country. It's going to be great if you find the still flying 737-200. It may well be one of the planes I flew in out of Vic Falls (as well as 707's and vicounts) when I worked in Zim in the mid 80's. Happy times
WOW what a beautiful/insightful trip report… Beautiful part of Africa !!! Enjoy!! Hoping to see that 737-200 trip report soon!!! Love that aircraft and didn’t realise they were the last (one of the last??) operators of that aircraft.
Good thing they're about to start a refurbishment of the 1950s era terminal used for domestic flights. I remember in the 90s when it was still used for international flights and 747s from BA, Qantas, Lufthansa and Air France were regular visitors.
I suppose I’m fortunate to have flown in an original Frontier Airlines 200 in 1979 (as a 14 year old), CP Air in ‘88 and Air New Zealand hush-kitted 200s in the 90s. I particularly remember the Frontier Airlines flights from YVR to GEG and back. Going there was the newer red & orange livery but coming back was the original 1969 paint job which was very retro looking even in ‘79. Kudos to you for keeping your spirits up in spite of the setbacks.
Thanks Gabriel, your video provided an interesting contrast to the day trip I made by Vickers Viscount from Harare to Victoria Falls on 12 Oct 1980 (as guest of Air Zimbabwe) while working for the publishers of the long forgotten ABC World Airways Guide.
so funny hearing you say you just want to get a glimpse of that 737-200. It must be quite ancient now. I used to fly on it regularly between Harare and Bulawayo in the 1970s! However, I have never been on an ERJ so thanks for the lovely memories of seeing the city I grew up in, the old airport and I guess a new airport in VFA.....older AV-Geek! :)
your positive comments are appreciated. There are so many other plane-heads that flooded us from the beginning to end with complains about every little thing.
Cheers man. I first flew on the erj145 between Xna-Dfw with AA in summer of 99 then a third in 09 between Iah-mci with UA and Xna-Cvg-Sav With DL awesome RR engines on the Brasilia maker Memories🎉 cheers T.y.
Is that aircraft called Mbuya Nehanda - if so I've flown her many times to Vic Falls & back, she's certainly a faithful old lady. Thanks for showing our beautiful country as it actually is, instead of what the media portraits us as. Much respect from zimbabwe 🇿🇼
As I watched your video I couldn't work out why I didn't recognise Victoria Falls as I could swear I had flown in/out of there. So looked up my records and it was actually Livingstone on the other side of the Victoria Falls -- on the Zambian side, that I had flown into in May 1993 in a Convair CV-580 of Regional Air from JNB and sat in the jumpseat too for descent/landing. Just 4 months earlier I had visited Harare too flying in/out on SAA A320s from/to JNB.
Your vlog sent me off on a research quest re Air Zimbabwe. Technical servicing difficulties, multiple acting-CEO changes, banned from EU airspace etc. I admire your courage!
@normanmcleod7169. Ahh!!! Don't forget that 🇿🇼 has been under E.U. sanctions and the 737-200 is an American plane. One is bound to have parts problems and resultant technical issues. Logical.
Not much has changed at Harare airport since I was flying in and out of there in the 1980s! 🤣 Some good memories and great aerial views over my old schools and the suburb where I lived. Thanks!
I personally have had a few negative experiences, not “negative thoughts” TheAirline can be very unreliable at the best of times. Honestly that’s why I stopped using them. Too many missed connections. It’s isn’t worth it!

Nice vidoes, keep them coming. Ihope you will get to see the 737-200 soon. The domestic terminal is a bit old now but it will get a face lift soon after the old international terminal is done.
While your in Vic falls you should experience white water rafting down the Zambezi and bungee jumping off the bridge between Zim and Zambia. These will definitely get your heart ponding! Safe travels!
@@vietkong1 no inflight entertainment at all on the 707, but in those days even the 747s only had a screen at the front of each cabin and everyone had to watch the same film! Long haul flights really were a long haul. These days we have so much personal entertainment long haul flights are a breeze.
I also like the back row. Yes, US airlines could learn a thing or two also in relation to food and beverage service. A 1 hour flt in the States will barely get you a 3 ounce water bottle and some stale pretzels. The RJ 145 really moves on down the road on takeoff! Great scenery.

Another amazing adventure to come along with you on 👍 When being so far from home so often and all by yourself, do you ever get lonely?
Looks greaet, nice flight. I have been on board a 737 100 or 200, I am not sure. It was back in 1984. Just a short flight It was a Sabena, the former national carrier of Belgium. We flew from Antwerps to Brussels, only a 15 minutes flight. I have an official certificate as it was a flight babtism, and part of one of the daytrips of our national railways in the Netherlands. I made slides of our flight, so I could find out if it was a -100 or -200. I guess a -200. Just saw on google earth that Victoria fall airport has a 4 km long runway and Harare airport even an almost 5 km long runway. Maybe because of higher elevation and high temperatures most of the time... Hope you catch that 737-200 soon, and we would like to see the video of course!
I think I was lucky, flew the B732 Z-WPA between DAR and HRE June 20th. After that flight it dissapeared from flightradar until September 9th when it was back on the radar. When were you in Zimbabwe?
Brilliant video of your attempt to find the old 737. Will you be giving us more on your attempts to find her? I see you tried my fave Zim cooldrink - Cherry Plum 😄

Africa is arguably the richest continent on Earth in terms of natural resources and beauty.
The downside? It starts with the letter "P"
But you're definitely in Zim. Why say, " When you're in Africa ---". That blanket bunching of different sovereign countries is something else 😂
