      It’s the last 25% and then that 2% which takes away the small imperfections and that 2% can take hours

    Martin - I went ahead and built a pulling tower (game changer - thanks for the hints) - saw a US older guy doing doors like that ^^ - he has a tensioning jig that he puts the doors into - it basically stretches the door skin back out horizontally, making the repair a hell of a lot faster & easier. That's next on my "build list" as it makes an awful lot of sense when you give it some thought.

    Nice to see these repairs, my kind of repair being in a bodyshop. Not sure on the flex glue though I haven’t had the best results as yet seems to jump off quite easy even with the ‘6 Cs’ but a bugger to release when you need to ..

    • @dentremover01
      @dentremover01  2 года назад +1

      Hi Andrew ok the flex glue is like cement! I found that using a 99.9% isopropyl spray and a really hot melting glue gun, use the 6c you should get consistent killer pulls
      Maybe it’s down to timing? I give small tabs about 10-20 seconds and I find it hard to get them off the panel! Play about with your timings

    Also, what are those glue and the rubber grip called?
    Thanks

    • @dentremover01
      @dentremover01  Год назад

      Hi Sam thanks for your comment. I’d always recommend speaking to your local tech first to get an idea of how it’s to be repaired. Buying the cheapest glue kit isn’t the best option as it’s just crap glue and plastic. You’d need the proper equipment like keco or Camauto plastic tabs and the PDR glue. Also a hot burning temp glue gun.
      It may cost you the same in tools as it would a PDR repair
      Also it may not be fully repairable as sills are a specialist repair (sometimes) again without speaking to a professional your taking a chance and likely wasting money.
      Il take a look at the video as I don’t know what you mean about the rubber grip, most likely a mini lifter?
      Hope this helps
      Thanks Martin

      Drilled to holes inserted the z bar in the direction of the other hole In which a j hook went in to catch the Z bar , it was called the two holer , but still had to fill and paint,, I do have a stod welder . When I pulled the dents I kept tension while I was I knocked down the crowns and it was effective . But PDR wás not an option back in the day

    • @dentremover01
      @dentremover01  2 года назад

      @@daledowning1019 I know what you mean. I use to use similar, zigzag wire and weld it on like the crease tabs, and use a lifter with my oriole hooks to lift the damage out. Then fill & Paint.
      There’s no reason why bodyshops shouldn’t adopt GPR for collision reduction instead of welding and potentially damaging the inside of the panel- which could rust over time
      Trying to keep the old skills alive is something I’m keen on doing. Just not the mucky/dusty parts!

      I think I used about 8 sticks. The large tabs use about 1/4 a stick
      Small tabs about 2hrs of pulling

    You sound like you're in the UK. I'm not in UK, but just curious: Do car insurance companies cover PDR there?

    • @dentremover01
      @dentremover01  Год назад +1

      Hi Mark yes I am. And yes the insurance will pay for PDR but customers generally pay for it with their funds instead of using insurance. Mainly because once insurance is used we lose our no claims discount, and they load it on in coming years. Hail repairs are usually insurance paid

    What tool do you recommend for measuring dent depth.Is there one for bigger repairs?

    • @dentremover01
      @dentremover01  Месяц назад

      Hi Sonni thanks for your comment. Measuring depth can be tricky, I’d say if you run a straight edge over the area then use a ruler to measure from the deepest part of the dent and the straight edge that would give you an accurate depth. But it really depends on how you estimate the damage. On MTRX there’s shallow, medium and deep which the measurements can be added to these buttons. Say your dent is 20mm deep it could be classed as a medium depth, and if you added a 25% upcharge for this, you’d make more money for the added effort in the repair
      Hope this helps
      Thanks Martin
