@@iateyourfather92 This is a re-upload-says so in the description. My sister and I watched it years before we moved, and I moved almost eight years ago.
To all people who see this short film for the first time...and for those who decided to see it more than once- I want you all to know...there are things in life that make it feel like it's downright IMPOSSIBLE to move away from them. I know how this feels..."how can one move away when something so horrible and unjust has happened?". When I first saw this video...I'm not ashamed to admit that I was en emotional wreck by the end of it. I love dogs and cats, and to see a dog being treated so unjustly, especially when said dog was trying to do something so noble as to rescue a baby...there are no words to describe this crime against basic decency. Yes, I understand if some of the neighbors thought that it was a rabid, wild dog, but there are FAR better ways to handle such a situation without killing the poor animal. Also, it's been 3 years since this videos was first released, and for a long time, whenever it came back to my mind, I tried to repress it so, SO HARD, trying to think about literaly ANYTHING ELSE, rather than thinking about this horrible memory. Only in recent days though, as I started to develop my own mental mechanism for the purpose of helping me to deal with things that I encounter that I find disturbing or very emotionally heavy, I thought about this short again. Hesitantly, I rewatched the last part again, but for some reason, my mental technique didn't work. I began to panic and feel that emotional pain again, this time accompanied by the frustration of not being able to understand why isn't my method working. I've been thinking about it for a good while...and I think that I finally understood what I was doing wrong. You see, it's relatively EASY to punish the ones who mistreated the dog in your mind, but there is one thing that mentally punching your way through won't solve... The fact is, as hard and as impossible as it may sound, YOU NEED TO LEARN HOW TO MAKE PEACE WITH THE TRAGEDY OF THE DOG, AND MOVE ALONG. Now, by "making peace with", I don't mean APPROVE what happeend to the poor dog, because what happened was unacceptable and highly immoral. Rather, I mean that you need to understand that what happened, as horrible as it was...HAPPENED. In the end, the dog's injury and the bullet that killed her was not the end of her journey. Rather, it was her entering the final slumber of death, where she can feel no pain, or rather, her gaining her rightful place in heaven. once I realized that...I was able to slowly think again about the last portion of this noble dog's journey, and make peace with what happened, because by the end, not only has she now either safely sleeping forever without pain or suffering, or playing happily in heaven above, but as a bonus, the noble dog also managed to succeed in her benevolent mission, and save the human baby. I want to conclude this comment with the following message- Whether you are dealing with something disturbing, painful, or unjust that you saw either in real life, tv / movies or literature, or if you have gone through a trauma, please, remember this important lesson- One important step of healing from the pain is to make peace with what happened, as hard as it may sound, and move along. Don't be hasty with making peace with what bothers you. take your time, internalize, reflect, heal, and move along. remember, the world is full of beautiful and wonderous things, not just trauma and misery. I hope that I helped you with this message, and I wish you all happy and peaceful lives. :) Also, one final thing- I hope that in the continuity of this short, the angry neighbor gave the dog a proper burial, and decided to dedicate his life henceforth to helping animals in need everywhere, in order to honor the deeds of the noble dog. Plus, while I'm happy that the baby was saved, I hope that the guy who got him out of the sewer will come to understand what horrible thing he did, and that he will dedicate his life to helping animals in need as well.
The fact that the man at the end realizes that the dog was trying to save the child is beautiful, He realized what the man who had killed her was wrong and sobbed at the pups death. Realize that this is happening in the real world, and if you see a dog bark at you and run, follow Them. Dogs are more human than humans. People consider things like this “inhuman” But it’s the humans doing this. The fact that this man, even if he is a animation, realized this, is heartbreaking. I was never one to cry, and I am still not. But this nearly opened up the floodgates. “Nothing, man or not, should be punished for doing a good deed, they should be rewarded with the happiness and the memories that they did a good deed. Not a slow death and no one to mourn.” -source unknown
You could even see the guy who shot the dog, look back at the dog, and felt guilty for killing the dog, realizing the dog was telling him the baby was in the sewers.
thank you for writing this. I feel the same as you and agree with everything you said. I never usually cry but this also nearly made me open tears. I'm so happy that there are people like you in this world too.
The fact that the world is like this is what makes this sadder. imagine the dog was a service animal or something and it wanted you to follow it. No matter what you should always follow a dog, not kick dirt at ot or send it away :(
To people here that don't care about dogs or animals: animals may seem disgusting or needed to be treated like just small toys or something, but they can be so much more than that WITHOUT emotional or physical abuse...they can do amazing things...even save lives...I just have one question...why not have a heart? Who else agrees and cares for animals?
When an animal is acting a certain way there is always a reason why. If you can be patient and find the reason, you can help them and/or yourself. No animal bites, or barks, or rears for no reason. They might have pain, they might have been abused or be afraid, or they might be trying to help. Or they might be in need of some training. Whatever the reason it can be handled well if we pay attention.
I once heard of a dog that began to excessively dig holes in his yard, and the owner heeded to it and found out there was a gas leak that could've costed the lives of the entire neighborhood, and she notified the authorities right on time. All that because she listened to her pup.
my neighburs cat was meowing at our front door in july!! i thoguht she was trying to get in and gently tried to shoo her away, but then i realised cats do that for a reason!! i told my paretns that maybe she needs help, and she ended up needing help getting back into her house lolz
In some movies, Dogs get the short end of the stick! In The Road Warrior, Mad Max flipped his car, battling The Mutants(my term for the motorized gang, harassing the drilling settlement) when they tried to leave! When Max got injured, his dog stood between him and the Mutant Gang, and, was killed. They'd have killed Max, if his booby trap hadn't gone off! Some dogs will fight and die for someone they consider their people!
Your tuff. I cry reading Warrior books and watching doggo movies. And I cried watching a move on the execution of Jesus. Ya know what, I cry a lot. I'm a baby.
This genuinely made me cry. The dog died for zero reasoning, if this happened irl he would think, "what did I do wrong?" I hugged my dog tight afterwards
This is a great animation although I’m still crying, I don’t know how people can kill animals without regretting or feeling bad because this does happen in real life it’s just sad :/
@@pedroxd4076 yeah, but that’s different. Killing an animal for food is a part of nature, that’s why so many animals do it. By the same logic, I would argue that killing in self-defense is also acceptable. Some people might feel bad about it, but ultimately it’s not a monstrous act. Killing an animal for being noisy without investigating why, on the other hand, is just senseless bloodshed.
I didn’t cry until the very end, when they guy kneeled down. Crying is contagious to me, so I cry when someone else does. My heart is completely torn apart by the dogs death but also my heart is filled that it had protected a baby even though it costed its own life. Great animation, story, and emotion.
I saw this a loooong time ago. I remember feeling so sad because even when the dog got shot the first time, it still tried to show that the baby was in there.

Congratulations. I have never felt so close to crying over an animated story. (Not sarcasm I just usually find it hard to cry over pictures on a screen)
When I read all the people saying that they were crying I thought “Oh please, it’s just an animation? How could it make you cry?” And here I am, soaked in my own tears that have been flooding out of my eyes for the past hour.
I’m sobbing because the animation is showing something that sadly happens in real life, people who do good deeds like the poor dog in the film, get punished for it in the end many times.

It's so sad that things like this happen because people don't understand what an animal is trying to say. Barking and jumping at you on the street is the only thing that dog can do to get you to listen. It can't talk, it can't explain why it needs you, all it can do is peak your interests long enough to show you. I really love this animation, it always makes me cry at the end.
The person struggled, he knew, it was wrong, but there was the big struggle on letting the animal suffer or put it on sleep. The others were pretty heartless... Mostly when the guy in window smirked when the dog was put in sleep
I like how the viewer can tell the whole time that the dog is trying to show people something, but by the 10 min mark gets frustrated that WE DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT THE DOG IS TRYING TO SHOW. And then, bam. Brilliant.

My first kitten was discovered by Rufus, a Great Dane/lab crossbreed. He kept pulling his owner in the opposite direction on his leash when he was always so obedient at all times. That's how i got Lilly, when she was just 8 weeks old. Pay attention to your dog!
My friend’s dog, Einstein, did something similar. He had a secluded area for his bed, that he picked himself. One morning, he kept going outside, then coming in, going to his bed, then trotting back out. After the fifth time this happened, my friend went to check his bed… there were six dog-slobber soaked baby bunnies! And he was bringing in another! My friend guessed the mother rabbit had been hit by a car, or grabbed by a predator. And Einstein had decided to adopt these helpless little kittens (baby bunnies are called kittens). All but one survived.

That's post-Soviet animation for you. It will make you think, it will make you cry, and in a strange way it will also make you hopeful. If you want sobering, grimdark but weirdly hopeful and uplifting animation, look at post-Soviet studios. They had the job of making the terrible life in the Soviet Union feel like it had a glimmer of hope to it. And they were very, very, very good at it. If you want to take a good look at how they did it, this video is a nice place to start. I mean look at this. It's horrible. The dog was slaughtered for no reason. It's an absolute injustice. But still, its sacrifice saved the child. It was mourned. Its life mattered. People saw the goodness in this dog -- too late, but they saw it. The dog died, but in death the dog WON. How cool is that? And that's the genius of post-Soviet narratives and why they still matter.
This is the first time I burst into tears After watching a short film.i watched this again one more time and I still crying lik a baby.YOU guys are great.Keep up the goodwork.
This Dog needs someone to pay attention to what he's trying to tell them ,but they think he wants to play and some people think he's annoying. I really like this animation how it gives a good point of people reactions to dogs.
This reminds me so much of a story in my third language (Swahili), I am not sure of which culture this story derived from, because the Swahili language is part of several cultures. Its title translates something along the line "Slowly slowly, don't judge a situation too fast" The story is about a dog and its owner, the owner trusts the dog, the dog trusts the owner. One day the owner has to take care of the baby of his daughter. Half-way through the day, he realises, he needs to get food for the baby, so he keeps the dog there and quickly goes to the store/market and comes back 5-10 minutes later. When he goes back, he sees his dog happily walking towards him, its mouth full of blood, the owner panics that the dog ate the baby. The owner gets his axe to unalive the dog. In the end the dog is no more. The owner goes to the bed, where the baby was and discovers its unharmed, there is no blood anywhere. The owner looks around and sees a dead snake underneath the bed, full of blood. The owner sobs for his mistake and cannot forgive himself for unaliving his best friend. I learned about this story when I was taught some Swahili from my mum and it's so sad... Just as this short film... :(
This is also derived from an English Story about a King who had a loyal dog once, but killed the dog after the King thought his dog killed his child. Turns out- the loyal dog killed the wolf who tried to kill the King's child.

Also, one final thing- I hope that in the continuity of this short, the angry neighbor gave the dog a proper burial, and decided to dedicate his life henceforth to helping animals in need everywhere, in order to honor the deeds of the noble dog. Plus, while I'm happy that the baby was saved, I hope that the guy who got him out of the sewer will come to understand what horrible thing he did, and that he will dedicate his life to helping animals in need as well.
Hey, man. Good comment. Fantastic message. Thanks for this.

Nice
You’re comment brought me a lot of peace. Thank you❤
Normally id read essays but im ALREADY trying not to cry, so i think ill pass this time
I remember hysterically sobbing at this a few years ago, I still do.
Same, its so emotional
The fact that the man at the end realizes that the dog was trying to save the child is beautiful,
He realized what the man who had killed her was wrong and sobbed at the pups death.
Realize that this is happening in the real world, and if you see a dog bark at you and run, follow
Them. Dogs are more human than humans. People consider things like this “inhuman”
But it’s the humans doing this.
Not a slow death and no one to mourn.”
-source unknown
You could even see the guy who shot the dog, look back at the dog, and felt guilty for killing the dog, realizing the dog was telling him the baby was in the sewers.
thank you for writing this. I feel the same as you and agree with everything you said. I never usually cry but this also nearly made me open tears. I'm so happy that there are people like you in this world too.

it was super duper sad to see the dog die at a the place where the baby was😢😢😢😢😢😢❤❤❤❤❤
the dog is more human than a human?
The fact that the world is like this is what makes this sadder. imagine the dog was a service animal or something and it wanted you to follow it. No matter what you should always follow a dog, not kick dirt at ot or send it away :(
To people here that don't care about dogs or animals: animals may seem disgusting or needed to be treated like just small toys or something, but they can be so much more than that WITHOUT emotional or physical abuse...they can do amazing things...even save lives...I just have one question...why not have a heart?

This genuinely made me cry. The dog died for zero reasoning, if this happened irl he would think, "what did I do wrong?"
I hugged my dog tight afterwards
This is a great animation although I’m still crying, I don’t know how people can kill animals without regretting or feeling bad because this does happen in real life it’s just sad :/
Well people need to kill pigs, cows, sheeps because we need to survive
They did feel regret afterwards.
@@pedroxd4076 well we don’t really need to eat meat to survive so I don’t see why sheeps ,pigs , cows and more need to be killed ?

I didn’t cry until the very end, when they guy kneeled down. Crying is contagious to me, so I cry when someone else does.
As someone already said, this is a heartbreaking masterpiece...and in my opinion, one that every person on earth needs to see. Just haunting.
But this isn’t the only one, stuff like this needs more recognition.

This American feels we need to forget greatness. Let greatness take care of greatness. We must make the world kind again. Whatever your race whatever your class whatever your gender.. just be kind. It's the greatest commandment of nearly every world religion -- just be kind.

Even though the dog was barking i can still understand him more than whatever they where saying, this made me cry so much😭

Its title translates something along the line "Slowly slowly, don't judge a situation too fast"
The story is about a dog and its owner, the owner trusts the dog, the dog trusts the owner.
i've heard of a similar story and yeah it's definitely similar to what happened in this video
:"(
This is also derived from an English Story about a King who had a loyal dog once, but killed the dog after the King thought his dog killed his child. Turns out- the loyal dog killed the wolf who tried to kill the King's child.
I've read a similar story in india....exact same....just different characters
