This guy had the privilege to see many times and never disappointed the atmosphere in the places was unbelievable and sadly missed I'm. 52 and still play his tunes top bloke utv
I'm 53, came for Oaky's Goa Mix then saw this in the suggestions. Ooh, I thought...
this just proves that house music is timeless!!!!
garysonik it’s Hard house not Techno
@garysonik House is a Feelin'!
@garysonik & Jay.... both wrong...ish
Tony is predominantly celebrated as a hard house DJ but this mix is neither a techno mix nor a HH mix ..... listen to it, ffs look at the track list! varies from house, techno, hardcore, breakbeat, hard house.... 2 djs in my the 30yrs of dance music could do that so seamlessly and effectively.... Tony & Carl Cox
@@jamesbennettrve Correct Jay! He was the king of Hardhouse.....
Tim Langler like no other
A flame that burns twice as bright burns half as long. To think it’s 20 years today since we lost the one and only Tony De Vit. The years have passed but those magical memories never fade. He took us to places we could have only dreamed of going, and always with passion and a smile on his face. Always patient, always humble, and so down to earth. He was everything we wanted him to be and so much more. My love and thoughts are with his family and friends today. I hope you are all keeping well and life is being kind to you.We all lost someone so very special and dear to us 20 years ago today. I’m 53 now and still love your music and what you brought to my life. A very inspirational man who was way ahead of his time. RIP Tony. Always in my thoughts. Thank you for all you gave us. Memories to last me a lifetime👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Yes!
I was but a kid really. Thrown into the scene by my 1st landlord. Didnt know what hit me, poppers, pills and pleasure. Never been the same since. Opera House and drag queens!!!!
Thank you for posting this. I didn't realized Tony had passed away in 1998 from bone-marrow failure and bronchial pneumonia. www.nme.com/news/music/de-tony-vit-1388601
@@victoriawhyte5379 never forget a night a Lakota in Bristol maybe 95ish bumped into him on the stairs & I said STAY THERE!!!! My mate would love to meet you & after about 5 to 10 minutes I found my mate & Tony was still there😃BANGIN NIGHT!!!!🤪

RIP Tony i listened to this when it was broadcast live on radio one and still now his mixing is superb! Back in the 1210 days he'd destroy any of those controller guys! Go on son
Same mate.
Proper legend!
The beats wouldnt slip over a 3 hour set. Most of the 'Dons' let it slip..we all did. It wasn't the same with jumpy vinyl that required the ultimate skill. Some vinyls needed a push, some a tap. Some u could barely touch..was a an art. He was a Rembrandt or Monet, and he smiled for everyone
what has what to do with what ?
you clearly still live in the past ?
Good for you !
@@dailydoseofbeauty-coaching113 The point is, in the past on equipment that was never reliable Tony was impeccable under any circumstance - nowadays its hard to mess up with Pioneers and the latest tech. as for living in the past... I DJ regularly in clubs across the UK and couldn't be any more upfront with my music. Tony set a standard which we still live by today.
You need to open your ears, man. Listen to the shit being pumped out today. That is the result of technology dumbing us down and reducing the quality of production. Back in the day, you had to have genuine skills earned from hours of practice due to the limits of the gear. Having limits forces you to think outside of the box and usually the end results are far better. If you want to know why music sounds so shit today, that is one of the reasons . We all need to take our lives back to basics and I guarantee we would all benefit.
The Greatest DJ of all time
Thinking of the legend today on what is his 64th birthday. Our paths briefly crossed in my short clubbing career, but the joy you brought to my life was immeasurable. I still love your music to this day. A very talented very humble lovely man. Sending much love to all your family and friends. They must still be so very proud of the person you were and everything you achieved. RIP Legend xx
His loss is still felt in the scene. 👊🏻♥️🇬🇧🙋🏻
Driving fast to to Bagley's with this in the tapedeck(yeah, I said it)...going off people...driving veeerrryyy slooowwwllly away from Bagley's with this in the tapedeck.
R.I.P the boss of house music... Tony De Vit.
Legend of the highest order. RIP Tony. You will never be forgotten mate.
just imagine the sets he would be playing today. big time DJ.
Amazing that this was the only EM he did, when you think of some of fly-by-night DJs who have got on there over the years.
So True!!

Great upload, recorded on cassette when aired but lost it way back.Blinding mix by TDV Happy DAYS ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Nice one for this amazing set of the late Tony De Vit,this mix is totally floor less.Back then was simply fantastic.
Bits and pieces🙌
Lol.u no bro.
I love it that in 2022, I found a TDV mix that I never heard before! He was my goto DJ to get me hyped. That Tel Aviv GU mix just pounded from the first drop! Wish I could have seen him live. RIP to the legend.
CLASS
surely 1 of best essential mixes ever in my opinion.. absolute CLASS
What an amazing set - absolute class mixing
Tony De Vit was the best house DJ there was. Think he also played Trance or hard trance but not 100% sure? I know he did hard house, the best house DJ ever. Sad he passed away, Tony had his own brand which noticeably stood out from the rest and this formula worked, this was the formula that made him different to everyone else and every other house DJ. Think he played a lot of the hard stuff too.
dont even think trance was about back then god knows tony probably envented it he invented everything else .just a total legend of the bad ass quality !!
I saw him play a house set in Leeds in 1995, but he was best known for hard house.
from the heart its the best essential mix il say no more!!
best mix on radio 1 along with david holmes and sure is pure ever
I love the way Pete Tong pronounces the 't' in Tony de Vit
WHAT A LOSS A FANTASTIC CLUB DJ ONE OF THE BEST SAW HIM AT LAKOTA BRISTOL BLEW ME AWAY THE NIGHT WAS CALLED REVOLUTION WITH NICK WARREN FUCKIN BRILLIANT RIP
I saw him first time at Lakota too. Peerless. What a mighty legend.
Absolute MAESTRO ❤😇
Tony De Vit real legend GU Forever!!
Legend!!!!
I was wanting to hear a mid nineties house mix and Tony De Vit was in my head so i typed his name in. I knew of him back then but never followed him. What's teally strange is that i was heavily into house back then so this would have been right up my alley. I have to say this is truly stella and 1000 times better than what passes for house now !
What a tunez btw
awesome
This guys mixing is unparalleled still noone is close the way he transitions is silky as fuck and this is the 90s when everything was done by listening to the records and actually mixing no switches or controls telling you when to. Absolutely the King of Hard House. No fergie without TDV either. Another sbsolute magician on the ones snd twos and from the greatest place on earth. The mighty Northen Ireand.
the bloke was a legend in brum my fave without a doubt
Wow
God bless you for sharing this. What a great blast from the past 😎

What a legend! RIP.
Absolutely rocking.
What is the name of the 3rd track? Mixed in at 11.45 onwards and breaksdown at 12.10 Feckin amazin' track. Spine tingling uplifting hard house at it best.
The Shaker - Mooncat. Awesome track!
that tune u want is on miss moneypennies cd set from 1996
Does anyone still offer a catalog that rivals "BangingTunes"? I used to import all my vinyl from them and cried when they folded.
RIP 🙏🏻
bangingtunes was awesome. i'm always on www.discogs.com now
This was a very important moment in time, For years R1 had ignored youth culture and Dance music. It was very exciting to hear it on the radio. R1 is still naff.
❤❤❤
Hi,
Anyone know what the 2nd tune is called (starts at about 06.00)? I'm pretty sure it isn't "Boy Butla - Driftwood [Beeswax]" Please help - it's driving me mad trying to find it!!!!!
Mr and Mrs DOVE went to a party and a club and let's say the rest is History.
L.E.D.G.E ♥️😎
Rest In Peace Tony x One of the FIRST and ultimately one of the BEST in bringing House to the nation. Still have your "collars" from "that" hotel in Ibiza. People are still listening to your mixes! Ha! Do you remember the THREATS we used to get from South London? Death threats, but we were on the ball, we diverted, we played the game and, we were blessed with you fella. And so, I used to attend a little gathering in SW1 as I knew the Mc (RIP), I asked you to perform, and you did, you blew the roof off! No offence Skol however, do not compete with perfection x
OH my......
i love u tony always ciaran r i p

This is how you recognize a real Disc jockey.
Let's hear it for The Master of the dancefloor Mr Tony De Vit! Rip sir, you earned it.
My favourite DJ, read a crowd perfectly. He played near enough the same set 19,01,95 at Cherry, the fanclub, Leicester with Ian ossia, the weekend of my 21st birthday and the night I met my wife! I feel blessed to be part of the midland clubbing scene back then.
Only those who learned on Vinal truly know how much he nailed the mixes, no auto beat match here kids!
big time
He was always on point, such a legend.
Tell me about it! I was a bit young back then, so I only started recording the Essential Mixes when I was 13 (1997). That struggle of trying to stay awake as a kid until 2:45 am so that I can flip the tape over and record the next 45 mins.
I don't miss being that young. But I miss the tunes! Really miss the tunes. 90s was tops. Definitely my informative music years.
So true.
This is the first time i've listened to this mix and I'm getting constant shivers running through me! It's SO good!
this is the daddy and awesome set .. still get rushes even now
Rip amen 2 the de vit
Rediscovered this Mix after a few years..
Better than ever..
I'm 50 now I use to be bang into this in the 80 + 90s.. Awsome we should recreate happy house era
Eeeeeez are good
What a legend!! The days when dancing your t**s off was the plan for every weekend!! Proud to have stood by the masters side in the DJ booth at Trade!! Bring back those days!!
This will give me the opportunity to discover England and its virtues since the time I dream of it...
I'd give anything for just one of the old nights at Trade. What a time to be alive.
@@nowleta Me too. Trade and Peach,Turnmills. I'd gladly give up a couple of years for a weekend or two back then.
My first night in Ibiza, in Manumission, Tony De Vit in 1995. Immense, right place right time and right DJ. Thanks for the memories Tony.
Long live
Long live
That would have been incredible! Manumission knew how to rock a party
That must of been wicked you are lucky to have that memory, I’ve been to manumission a couple of times but the music was average house, hearing some TDV bangers in there would of been better
while he was in tears after the shows, calling his friends at the Trade, telling them how lonly he was !!
R.I.P TDV
sadly missed

Tony still deserves more recognition than he gets IMO
This was mainstream radio 1 back in the day. We all knew how good it was at the time. As it still is.
The last time I saw Tony I commented on his weight loss, not knowing he was unwell and asked him how he did it “class A’s Matron, class A’s!” Was The reply!! He then took me on the Leicester, Derby,Birmingham Trade trip like we used to do most weekends.....Then DTPM and FF.....then back to work Monday pm. God knows how I kept down a job!
Cocaine eh. Not Smack surely, even if he was (deadly) ill the naughty man. He did 12 hour sets I heard/read! Must've needed something to keep going. After all, them tunes didn't mix on their own the absolute legend.
The original legend. Nobody came close, not that there wasn't some amazing djs about. But, they knew the man was the man. R.I.P loved for eternity.
@@nickycotton6137 I imagine pretty much everything, but brown not really part of this scene.

Gracias Emporium y gracias Tony por esa noche
Seen him a few timez at the emporium unbelievable timeesss. I was so lucky
was at his funeral seems like a lifetime ago tony de vit from kidderminster with love.......progress in derby i had me hat on x
What I like about Tony’s style is he can blend progressive, hard house and old school house in one set just like Sasha these talented djays only come round very few years top man and an inspiration to many thanks tony de vit never forgotten.
he also has a strong mastery of trance styles, and really, for me, the combination of Trance's psychedelic sounds with the various house styles allows for some of the most intense music, whether dancing or listening at my desk. a lot of tony's grooves with the bassline and drums are some of the most driven, hard groves, and i've been seeking various hard-hitting rave styles for more than 15 years with 2TB library.
Wishing the Lord of the Dance a very happy 65th birthday today. You are gone but you will never be forgotten. RIP Legend x
I remember this guy , he started in a club called tin tins in Birmingham... 1993 -1994 he was the bollocks
Today (July, 2nd, 2023) marks the 25th anniversary since Tony's passing. RIP brother. You will always be remembered through your music, passion and dedication.
Lovely comment .. seen him in BCM magaluf not long before he died
Tony de Vit was a DJ at the Nightingale Club in Birmingham. It was a gay club and Tony provided Beacon Radio (Wolverhampton) with the "Dance Chart Top 10" every week, which was really a chart based on audience reaction at the club, but Beacon never actually divulged that. Tony co-presented a dance show with Mike on Beacon from 1981 through to around 1986.
Don’t forget tin tins ?!
Only saw Tony once, Cream at Amnesia in Ibiza. That was in 95 and he was on top form just like this. Memories never fade
Saw TDV play quite a few times. He was always on form, utterly professional at all times and very serious about his live sets.
One man, 2 decks, millions of happy people, what a legacy, job done, RESPECT ✊
Brilliant at mixing
My Goodness!!!
Top Drawer.
TdV Genius General.
21:27 Get yerself strapped in.
Hearing Tony play at Trade @Turnmills- week in week out & smashing it from his first tune!- often having already smashed it at other clubs up and down the UK earlier that nite;- TdV's early morning set @ Trade would at times get so intense, dramatic & dark-you would see grown men crying on the dance floor (drugs& amyl aside). Maybe cos the sound system @ Turnmills {an old gin cellar in Farringdon/Clerkenwell} was so ridiculously powerful+ clean sounding for a relatively compact venue that when TdV played you felt you where physically 'in the music'---being a passenger onboard a space bound rocket! :-)
The energy present in this mix is a small taste of that--Tony dV's genius was knowing the exact point in each tune where the energy could be taken ever upwards. You also get a sense of this in his precise placing of outgoing kick drum over incoming kick :- such expert, craftedly tight mixing! - not to show off - but to create even the more excitement, energy and above all !DRAMA! (-most str8 DJs-not a clue what this meant!) >>Lift off!
+Neal Tait tdv wouldn't stand by your comments on str8 dj's it's embarrassing if you meant it
wish my ears could back in time to those nights......damn!!!!!!!!
Trade. Ah, Trade. Never been anything like it before or since. What a night.
@@andyq752 Trade at Turnmills was the biz. Amazing club and remember when TDV was playing, the floor just rocked. So many blurry Sunday mornings having the time of my life.

Absolute class, RIP Tony De Vit
his set at Trade were legendary, good times that will never be forgotten... thanks Tony!
more of a oldSkool house rave and classic oldSkool sort of raver but loved his style of bouncy hardhouse..had this mix on a tape like all of you..lent it someone in 1997 and never saw it again
I’ve always thought you didn’t pronounce the t at the end of de Vit but Pete Tong does... is he right..?
Pete is correct
I had this on old tape many many years ago that iI had recorded off the radio but had long lost. First time tonight for over 15 years that I have listened to this. Still shiver with excitement. I was lucky enough to hear him down at Trade a lot of times but this mix is still something special. Thanks so much for sharing :)

flawless mixing skills on two 1210. a dying art form that only a few mastered to perfection. what a great mix.
Completely agree .. quality at mixing without laptops or synch buttons
He was the only DJ i saw who just used the pitch adjuster rather than touching the record/platter - perfect timing
