  • How to do a hand carved flagstone concrete overlay wall, outdoor kitchen, fireplace or seat wall is an easy and less expensive way to get the look of flagstone, boulders, cut stone, castle stone...without the weight, mess or cost of using real flagstone, stone or stone veneer. The benefits are...less cost, easier to apply, 100% coverage to the substrate means no delamination or water intrusion that can cause damage. Classic or custom looks, and incredibly beautiful rock and boulder looks...that are actually concrete, so it has 3000+ psi when dry and will last as long as concrete.

    When you hit it with the sand paper....I was impressed at how much that added to the realism....and I also liked the darkening of the cracks. Thank you for this video.

It's an ICF Insulated Concrete Form, and I want to use as much concrete as I can. Your work is amazing! I have a hallway between my mudroom and kichen and I don't want it boring. I want to make it look like a train tunnel! I haven't found any videos for something like that. I'm a part of many diy barndo groups. Would you be interested in teaching and instructing us on how to do it? I want to do the work and would buy all the materials. We just need your know how! Have you ever made a tunnel? But it never was sealed after and the colors are a little chalky. But when wet with water they look beautiful again. What type of sealer should I use to bring the color out and give it a real wet look.

    • @stoneedgesurfaces3959

      Actually our "Liquid" pigments are just natural pigments in water.To apply them, we mix the pigments and water with our Pro Seal water based matte sealer because you need a rheological or reactive agent to draw the pigments into the concrete or stone. If you apply the pigments and water without a reactive agent, they will stay at the surface and wear away very quickly. There are a lot of pigment suppliers out there, it took us a long time to find the right type of sealer that is a good reactive agent for our pigments, so hopefully with some trial and error you can find the same in your country.

    What is the typical life of stamped wall projects like this? Is it prone to cracking and/or pulling away with settling and exposure to moisture in the wooden frame and sheathing? How often is sealing required to keep moisture proof and is cracking just part of the residual character or can it be corrected?

    • @stoneedgesurfaces3959
      @stoneedgesurfaces3959  Год назад

      It's concrete and all concrete cracks over time. Polymeric concrete with fibers in it...which is what this is...can crack less and also if it does crack the fibers help hold it together so they are more hairline...which (to answer your other question...you can fix.

You can find the recipe for Type S Mortar online if it is not available there. Once you have 80LB of Type S Mortar...you add the Wall Mix AddPak to it and you have 89LB of basically the same mix that you see in the videos.
