Thanks for visiting the Fantastic Fish Room. Great to have BRS Fresh over. Thanks for all the great videos you provide for both the Saltwater and Freshwater side of this Fantastic Hobby.
I’m looking forward to my first guppy tank! Going to transform an aquarium in the studio into a guppy haven in the next couple of weeks and should have a video on it next month!
If you have any advice on types or how many you would start with, let me know! This will be in a 20 gallon tank. I’m thinking of working off of a two females to one male ratio and maybe 9 total? Or would you do more than that?
@BRSfresh I guess it depends if it's going to be heavily planted or not. I'd definitely get a sponge filter with them. I found endlers seem to be the dominant strain. When I've mixed guppies in the past they eventually reverted to endlers. They're nice fish but I do love the coloured ones such as blue, white & red guppies. I think you need a good group from different sources to limit inbreeding to avoid deformations etc. they suffer from hunch backs if inbreeding occurs too much
I agree - definitely not looking to mix. Thanks for the advice! BTW, I got a video coming out next Friday touring a fish room with over 60 guppy tanks. Hope you check it out!

We love the fantastic fish room! Looking forward to more!
Thanks for all of the tips!!!!
Glad they helped! 🙏
I love sponge filters just in general. I also absolutely love guppies. They're just wonderful little fish. The first I ever had were blue guppies.
