Penmanship is a real beauty. Always wondered why Chris White didn't use mast foils on the 72. Looks like she held her own pretty well with the rig she had, though.
Thanks team great job again, Penmanship is a stunner inside and out great to see her perform. It looked as if she held her head up high against the rest of the field. Would love to see some more footage if you have it.
looks like the kids had a great time. one question: afaik this boat is built using s-glass. any idea why this is not used in more builds? why do you use carbon instead?
This is a carbon boat. Chris White's 57 is an s-glass boat. The properties of carbon fibre are superior to s-glass which is why they are used in performance builds. Or carbon is what the owner has requested. Personally, I would build a cruiser from S-glasss.
@@youngbarnacles good answer, carbon has its place but you can build in S-glass for vastly less cost and with proper design still produce a fast safe boat!
Not my favorite design but sounds like you did very well against the gunboat!!!! I was concerned to see the bow-sprit flexing up and down with out even a sail flying , was the mast moving too? Cheers Warren
Yes the bow pole was flexing up and down. It was doing this because we eased the tension in the stay to transfer the tension to the inner stay. This was done to assist us going upwind. Yes, the mast moves as it is designed to. This is in order to change the sail shape and reduce the power in the main more or less like an automatic mainsheet system. While this design is not everyone's cup of tea we were very impressed with how easy this boat is to sail.
Well done guys! You made a great team. AND....great narration Olly! You're a natural. 👏👏👏😁
So BA! Those kids will never forget the high of harnessing the power of the wind as a team to compete against very serious racing boats!
Awesome skills kids!
Penmanship sure is a beautiful boat!
Well done to all kids on board!

There's the CWD dream cat....
I don't know.. it looked a tad heavy.. tossing some of the kids overboard could have secured the overall win... 😉🙂👍
😂😂 but choosing which one? 😉
@@youngbarnacles 🤣
Actually, it is 100% carbon fiber and very light. Those kids didn't look heavy enough to make much of a difference.
It's having the fully stocked galley to feed them all that's the heavy part 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
