dude....you are legend in your own lifetime.....i was first entranced by victorian tile work.....when i saw the connection to india then moorish and mudjar work..........well..... goodby boring life.....who ever would have thought there was an up side to iconoclasm.
I attempted this yesterday from your ebook and it was really easy to follow but it's interesting to see how you draw out the outline of the the pattern. I need to work on having neat clean lines! ☺️
Maryam: How to draw this patterns is also shown in my book 'Islamic Geometric Design' (2013) and in my eBook 'Draw Islamic Geometric Star Patterns' (www.amazon.co.uk/Draw-Islamic-Geometric-Star-Patterns-ebook/dp/B00NL99X0K/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1412614713&sr=8-5&keywords=broug)
Eric- Your book is FABULOUS! Just brilliant. Thank you so much for taking the time to make such easy to understand layouts of these wonderful patterns. I enjoyed reading about the history of each design, too. My only question is, I'm wondering why you didn't show how to tile the pieces. Do you have a video that shows exactly how to graph out the spacing? For now, I'm just creating the flower of life, acc then erasing the petals.... and trying to tile that way. ;) Is there an easier way (without using an already created grid)? I have bookshelves filled with art books. Your book is definitely one of my favorites. What a gem! I've already bought another copy for a friend. This is one book I'll bee using for years. Thank you!
Hi Bhakti, Thanks for your kind words. In my online course I show how to tessellate tiles www.udemy.com/islamic_geometric_design_introduction/#/ On scribd I have some PDF templates that already have the hexagon grid drawn so you can get started straight away (in A3 and A4 size). Just search for my name on scribe.com
Eric Broug Thank you so kindly for your reply. Your book has taken my artistic gifts to a new level; I have a newfound interest and love of Islamic art and Gothic tracery and architecture thanks to you. (If you can recommend your favorite book on Gothic tracery--the actual art/masonry/rose windows, etc., not the necessarily the technique-- that would be wonderful!) I will certainly be taking your course in the near future. Thank you for the sribd information. Again, thank you for unlocking the "mystery" of Islamic Art, and making that which seemed difficult, easy to comprehend. Warm regards!
I recommend you download a PDF template from my website: www.sigd.org Alternatively, you draw six identical circles around your initial circle. Using those intersections, draw two equilateral triangles inside the circle. These will give you the intersections that allow you to divide into 12 equal parts.
Split i in half and then in half the other way. You should have 4 quarters. Now get a protracted and measure 30* and then same again in one quarter. Do the same with the other three xx
De aqui Argentina es Ud. un genio....................Dentro de poco viajo a Barcelona me podria informar donde puedo conseguir sus libros con patrones................Gracias Saludos

Thank you for your tutorial, but it's too fast for a beginner like me. And yes, I love geometrical mandalas so much...
Is there a technical problem with the vid? “Something went wrong” is the only thing that shows to me!
same!

If this is a "how to" it should go a lot slower with a step by step explanation.
you look like an expert
lol, thank you. I try

Greetings from morocco 🇲🇦
As it's meant to be a tutorial video it should be a lot slower.
You can slow it down
شكرا جزيلا 😍 درس مفيد ببدأ في تطبيقه 💕
This is awesome, thank you!
How do you split the circle into 12 parts? I can't figure it out
I recommend you download a PDF template from my website: www.sigd.org

Thank you. I'm going to try the 2nd way. I don't want to take any shortcuts
I used 'D' to divide circle into 12 parts

This pattern is also explained in my book 'Islamic Geometric Design', or in my eBook.

So did you use a protractor to begin?
I use a template. You can download and print them as free PDFs from my School of Islamic Geometric Design website (www.sigd.org)
