Over here in the USA, the XC40 Recharge is a fully-electric car. So, shouldn't the PHEV be Refuel+Recharge?

yes, but only on the x50 flagship. the other x50 variants use a different engine

a lot of the switchgear in the XC40 is carried forward from older Volvos. Particularly around the door card (window switches all from 2010-era Volvos or older)
