Grew up here in the early to mid 80s before emigrating to Canada. Haven't been back in 25 years. Really hope it isn't this bad I'm hoping to get over next year
I grew up in Newton Aycliffe but left 36 yrs ago. I was there today. The town centre has changed a lot since i left. However I m pleased to say the clock is still there. I loved to hear the chimes late at night. The town centre is very quiet mind.
Worked there in the early 90s and popped in last week, quite nice since the work done in the town centre. Good to see the Thames shopping centre still going lol
I lived there for 5 or 6 years when chairman blair was the PM. I always thought the town centre was like a wild west one with cut out buildings either side of a street. But at least they got a nice recycling center from him.
I lived in Aycliffe when it was a village, I went to the junior school which had sliding doors on the classrooms, the school was surrounded by fields, I lived here from 1971 to 1978
Half of the stuff is gone now it looks so much better but I miss the old buildings, the Aldi car park was a giant waste a space and the library was there too
I live there and it is not as bad as that.
Same
