Nothing like this now. It looks decent but no decent shops.
I grew up in Newton Aycliffe but left 36 yrs ago. I was there today. The town centre has changed a lot since i left. However I m pleased to say the clock is still there. I loved to hear the chimes late at night. The town centre is very quiet mind.
Pissed up lads and lasses having a laugh. Happy days.
I'm sure I knew one or two of those lads. Bugger.
I lived in Aycliffe when it was a village, I went to the junior school which had sliding doors on the classrooms, the school was surrounded by fields, I lived here from 1971 to 1978
It's better now
I say it is him because he's wearing the same outfit in one of the rejects photos, singing on stage, very early days.
Nice people to be fair.. that's all that matters really
I live here
Omg is that what use to lol like
Grew up here in the early to mid 80s before emigrating to Canada. Haven't been back in 25 years. Really hope it isn't this bad I'm hoping to get over next year
Yay
Wankers .yeah you know who you are .piss ants .absolute weapons.shame on you for posting this video
Worked there in the early 90s and popped in last week, quite nice since the work done in the town centre. Good to see the Thames shopping centre still going lol
Lots of bad decisions by decades of councillors and ‘architects’. It does seem to be getting some of its life back last time I was there...
Grim
Lol there’s alotta nobs here but it’s not that bad
Love it, great stuff
Okay now I understand my moms weirdish hair syles xD
I live is Newton Aycliffe lol
Interesting to see what someone was like in a real life situation, a classic 'before they were famous' type thing, it does look a bit like ST but the picture isn't clear enough, why not contact him to confirm the matter. But was there anything particularly worthwhile about jumping up and down and going "Keep your trap shut keep a cool cat " in the first place ?
Its a hole
I lived there for 5 or 6 years when chairman blair was the PM. I always thought the town centre was like a wild west one with cut out buildings either side of a street. But at least they got a nice recycling center from him.
Started with safe European home as i remember..started lots of their gigs with this track
Nice one lads
aycliffe ain’t as bad now
Fam it's not that bad
It is just very old and needs some refurbishing
William Dryden jason friths smexy
I live there and it is not as bad as that.
Same
Headcase.
Half of the stuff is gone now it looks so much better but I miss the old buildings, the Aldi car park was a giant waste a space and the library was there too
Im almost certain they opened with London Calling, I was 13 my first gig, my first reggae sound system!!! drank milk 10p a glass, the support band were covered in spit and the Clash nearly stopped playing cos of all the spitting.
m8 it was being rebuild
dude i know half of this stuff is not here anymore
I live the read it is not a ghost town
Stinky you fackin nuttah!! :)
I love Aycliffe, full of natty characters!!!
people are saying this ai'nt Stink. they fink thier write, but they never. Turner was an early boomtown rats fan (1st 2 singles, then he wised up, m8) & i fink i can here thier (slight) influence on that first Postmen demo

i live in aycliffe and most of this stuff got knocked down years ago and now its much nicer and new
Thank you so much for posting this, I was at this gig too. God they were fantastic! I was right at the front with my sister, she somehow lost both her shoes and had to walk the streets of Newcastle in her bare feet afterwards. I've just listened to the lot and was back in the ballroom, 18 years old, young free and single, having a brilliant night. Very happy days, can't believe it was over 33 years ago!! BRILLIANT!!!!
I was at that gig too...I was still in the bog when they came on lol. Think the first song was Clash City Rockers???
I live there the town centre is shit
It ain’t bad now, you got the Greg’s, the busy shops, the leisure Centre and it’s nice.
LOL :) I live there to its not that bad!
Still got my ticket as well! I was sure the balcony was gonna come down, when I looked back up & saw it bouncing!!! Luckily my sister worked in the box office & I go to meet Joe & Mick afterwards. Class!!! Hey Natrass! "What else have you got in yer Punk Box"?
Got my birth certificate autographed by Joe at this gig.
