I made in line maggot and ground bait feeders 25 years ago. Using araldite and earbud tubing. Also made a pole float with part of a carbon pole tip with ptfe tips either end to make a jigger well before time. Fishing was not the same and the thought pattern was not the same. The float I made only took 4x10 shot so not enough weight. Only used once and gave up.
great video , especially how you worked out where the fish were . i fish a tree lined , very silty lake so i am going to try that helicopter rig , tho the feeder will still sink in the silt ? any other tips for silt fishing ? my choice of "fizzay pop" is diet coke , will that also do the trick ?
im glad you liked the video mate. yes the feeder will still sink into the silt but it won't drag the hooklength into the silt so the fish won't feel any resistance when taking the bait. It doesn't matter what fizzy pop you use as long as its fizzy.
the maggots don't stay inside the feeder. Most of the maggots will come out when they feeder hits the water and the rest will crawl out when its on the bottom mate
Hey, can you explain why the leader is so long? Isnt the maggot ending up a distance from the maggot feeder? Or doesnt it take way to lang before you have a tip indication? Because i fish method feeders and you have a really short hooklength...
A lot of the maggots will come out of the feeder when it hits the water so i like to have a hooklength that allows the maggots to land not so close to the feeder.
@@jasmijnariel yes mate the fish will eat the bait that has landed away from the feeder first so i think you will get quicker bites if your bait isn't right next to the feeder in the winter.
15 Minutes spent finding the fish with a bomb before introducing any bait has got to be one of the best tips ever.Keep 'em coming Rikki.

@@matchfishingmasterclass1247 thats great , thanks for taking the time to reply , much appreciated
If the maggot feeder sinks in the silt how do the fish eat the maggots inside ??

Sufix advanced is not accurate diameter 0,20 is 0,23, Did you use 0,30? This line sinking well?

@@matchfishingmasterclass1247 so what you mean is that by hitting the water, the radius of the maggots on the bothom is around 1m diameter?

Its crazy that red maggots are still allowed there... its not allowed anymore in my country for almost 20y now
i know yes
@McG the red color is poisoness for nature, just like lead
Where yam from
Was you using sufix mono ?
yes mate. 0.18mm sufix advance
@The 11th One www.fishingmegastore.com/monofilament/sufix-advance-monofilament-spools~47221.html
@The 11th One no problem
Why use a feeder is it sinks into the silt . Just stick to the bomb
there are days when using a feeder will be much better than using a bomb
what type off reels were you useing rikki ?
daiwa tdr rock solid 4012
how much are they rikki ?
@@crabs857 around £170-£190 depending on where you buy from
