    People like this customer run the equipment till it breaks then say I didn’t touch a thing…we know you didn’t touch a garden hose or the phone or filter for routine maintenance.

    • @bailles
      @bailles Месяц назад +1

      You have expectations as a renter. I’ve seen just how thin the walls are down south. Insulation is a afterthought. Those cooling bills must be high. One for dirty and two no insulation. Let’s not talk about all the shifty workmanship from prior people. It would drive me crazy. I get frustrated that I can’t turn my boiler off in the summer so I can keep things lubed up and have hot water. Clean my furnace every year. $400 we’ll spent!

    • @Garth2011
      @Garth2011 Месяц назад +2

      @@bailles Property owners need to maintain their property. Who knows how long this tenant has lived there, 1 year, 2 years? My guess, that filter was a good 8 years old. Garbage disposals, HVAC, faucets, drains and hose bibs etc. are all on the property owner when they need repaired. That water pressure Curtis was dealing with is a shame.

    I recall I went out to a no cool resi call because the cu coil was impacted and falling apart. His dog also found his favorite spot on the coil. So I explained after the coil is replaced, he wash it every month and he put up a small fence to keep the dog away from it. Dog will be sad I'm sure.

    When checking a motor, what signs do you look for when needing to replace it, i see you move the shaft but side to side or up and down?

    • @kevinwalker4623
      @kevinwalker4623 Месяц назад +2

      side to side gives one an idea of bushing wear, up and down tells you end play. It should spin nice and free with a minimum of both. Try it on a used one compared to a new and you will get a feel for the differences. You could use a dial indicator to test both but that is a bit over kill, I never looked for the actual specs for runout and endplay. Good question, now I gotta go look! Thanks!

I don't know how they live like that. I guess that's why they rent. They don't want to be bothered with taking care of things. Sad You guys sure have to deal with some disgusting homes. Of course, on the positive side, they keep you busy. You could buy her a case of filters, but I guarantee they will never change it. I sure wouldn't want my a/c / heating unit in the attic. • @kevinwalker4623
      @kevinwalker4623 Месяц назад +2

      I presume you are speaking of the coil he pulled. There is no vacuum nozzle that will fit more than two inches in before it won't go anymore because of the v-shape. Most of the time, there is grease and hair spray embedded with the dust which makes glue. Water is the least damaging way to clean the fins. If the fins bend over no air flows through so you have to be careful with whatever weapon you chose to attack it with. Rinse off the surface dirt, throw on the foam and give it a bit, rinse and volia! That foam cleaner is border line magic on all that goop! Stuff is designed for just that purpose. Remember also those coils condense all the time, like a glass of ice, so its instant mud.
