I have never eaten on a banana leaf, something which I am yearning to try. Regardless of whether we eat veg or non veg, we should definitely get an experience of eating on a banana leaf. Shravan month wherein our Hindu brethren refrain from non veg food, is a very nice concept as it teaches us self restrain. 👍 🇮🇳 Happy Independence day dear all 🇮🇳
Banana leaf meals are available at some South Indian hotels in Matunga, Mumbai. One of the reasons for not eating nonveg in Shravan is that it is a breeding month for fish ... and another is that heavy meals are not digested in the rainy season...
Do visit Rama Nayak restaurant in Matunga. its 5 mins walking distance from Matunga station. I would have highly recommended you Ghuggan restaurant near Marine line station which serves fantastic Tamilian vegetarian food on banana leaf. Unfortunately it is closed since lockdown. Their rasam is to die for. they make recipes that are also medicinal with very unique herbs. There is a Kerala style Sadhya food at Hotel Deluxe in Fort. a very non descript small restaurant but delicious Kerala style food. even their limited banana leaf gives you 2-3 extra servings of whatever you want and the cost atleast an year ago when I had it was just about Rs. 200 !! If all restaurants open up , Mumbai absolutely has it all. you can enjoy the taste of every region in Mumbai only if you know exactly where to go. If you have a friend who is from Mangalore or Udipi, sneak into Pejawar mutt in Santacruz for authentic Udipi style vegetarian banana leaf meal. this place is again just 10 mins from Santacruz East station right next to Yoga Institute. they serve only lunch from 12 - 1: 30. they are famous for their Pooranpoli dripping with ghee. a Pineapple recipe called Pineapple mensekai( Pineapple with red chillies) banana stem sabzi and Udipi rasam.
Khana toh simple aur healthy hai hi Magar simple se simple khana bhi special ban jata hai jab aap wuse khaate ho sir aapka khane ko special dikhane ka andaaz hi nirala hai

Thanks Kunal, I am a goan born and bought up in Mumbai ..This temple has so many memories for me…As I am a Dadar person..Shivaji park is my spot close to my heart
Thanks for your reply..your video was so perfect for me as I am a native GSB from Goa and finding authentic saraswat food is difficult in Mumbai . I so wish someone would open such a restaurant which serves our Goan saraswati meal
In our Hindu religion we never sit with our back facing our temples specially while eating or even otherwise, we are very thankful to you for highlighting our Indian culture and traditions 🙏 but it’s important to respect our heritage
The fritters are of Bread fruit called as Jeegujji or Jeevi kadgi, daalithoy (daal), panchamruth , we keep our Plaintain leaf towards their nerves on left or the side, moonga gasshi (sprouted green gram) , madgane is the sweet payasa which tastes best with jackfruit in it... This is GSB traditional food
Such a simple and nice episode. Because of you we get to see cuisines of different parts of India. Every Saturday I wait for you to upload a new video!

never heard of udad methi. I immediately started looking for the recipe. sounds interesting. will definitely try if I get raw mangoes. the Chanadal coconut milk kheer is quite common in Udipi brahmin food too we also add ripe jackfruits and small pieces of coconut fried in ghee in it. There is just so many delicious recipes. it will be really interesting if you bring such unique recipes to the forefront thru your channel.
OMG.. this was so divine to watch. I miss eating on kelyacha panavar. Lahaanpanicha aathvani taajya jhalya.. Ganpatitale divas ani pangat athavali.. faarach surekh.. mazza aali vdo paahun. 👌👌👌. Also that varan bhaat ani maharashtrian style loncha is one of the amazing comfort food and my favourite.
Sir, you have mentioned list of items in your plate in Description box. There you have mentioned Banana Fritters. But actually it was Neer Fanas ( Breadfruit) Fritters. You showed Neer Fanas cutting twice in this video still you have mentioned it as Banana Fritters.
As you said, try puran Poli with mirchi ka thecha. Amazing combination. I saw a big outlet named. " puran Poli" at talav Pali in Thane. If you want to explore a new food outlet.

Hello. Very nice tradional recipes. I belong to patnaik's community. In our tradition we don't have any vrath ka bhojan. We eat only fruits r have some milk. Only on ekadashi evng we prepare sheera for offering n take it as prashad. On any fasting day, v avoid any sort of salt. Vrath ka namak, vrath ka khana, aise kuch nahi hotha. I wonder everyone being Hindu, follow different rituals. Jo bhi Kare man se Kare 🙏
What a truly delightful episode on श्रावणी सात्विक आहार. The goan cadence to this style of cuisine brought back memories of a couple of lunches or ganpatichi prasadachi pangat on Rishi panchmi day at my dad's bosses home at Mayfair House. I used to be sent there as a family representative as my parents stayed at home with our family Bappa. The Rishichi bhaji was to die for but never made at home due to paucity of working hands. There were some 16 types of veggies in that bhaji. Please share an episode on that bhaji and the panchamrut featured in this video if possible. Our family panchamrut is more of the puneri style and is more piquant than sweet in spite of the jaggery used. And I love it that way. Satvik khanna is a wonderful foil to regular vegetarian or meat and fish delicacies. Each have their rightful place in the seasonal religious and secular calendar of India. I just love each of your episodes more so as I've been housebound for almost 4 years. Keep them coming and do try to share recipes secrets and all. Please?
Respected sir, you are sitting in wrong direction in temple , you can't sit facing your back side to the temple while eating food. Your face must facing front side to have your meal in the temple . Its pleasure to see your each episode ,waiting for next video , have a great day 😊😋
Since you are at Shivaji park you could have discovered veg mutton recipe at Ranade road dadar with any home food take away...that's a super delight man...
Amazing episode. Lovely. Saw some absolutely new dishes here, ones I have never heard or saw, leave alone eaten. The panchamrut chutney is so unique and so is that payasam - which is my favourite. Never heard it can be made in coconut milk also. A lot of firsts seen here so thanks for showing this variety and uniqueness of Goan Hindu Temple vegetarian fare. So far we only know more of the Portuguese influenced non-veg and occasionally the Goan Hindu style non-veg , but these are some hidden gems - thanks for sharing. Like Kunal, I too never liked Jackfruit until out of the blue in 2015 I tried it on way from Bangalore to Mysore from a highway street vendor at a toll. While I always enjoyed the Jackfruit wafers and the authentic Palakad style Jackfruit payasam, I never really liked the fruit. They say the seeds too are used for something. I remember my mom and aunt roasting them pebble like seeds but I don't remember for what. Above all, I enjoyed watching Kunal have a full vegetarian meal (not even eggs), which I hear is rare. So its another first. Not to mention this is one of the few shows where you can know how good the food by the sound of fingers being licked. Keep it this way, that's the real Indian-ness of this show. We never perhaps knew what spoons and forks were before the Britishers came. I mean we ate payasam from the Banana leaf and all. We also use all our senses to eat - see the beautiful food, smell the aroma aroma, touch it with our fingers, hear the sounds (papad breaking or fingers licking) and feel the satiety from the taste buds. This episode, as Kunal would say is, was "Lovvleyyy" Thanks again, Cheers, M
Healthy trip sound difficult 😂 but yummy and tasty food is always 😋 Kunal sir ek baat bataiye jab ye ingredients key baarey mey bata rahey they toh aap key muh mey pani aa raha tha ya nahi kyun ki mujhe ye sab dekh kar muh mey pani aa gaya jab ki mera dinner ho gaya hai but mujhe bohot bhuk lag rahi hai ye dekh kar ♥️😋 lovely.
