    Gin makes a good point about not using MCT Oil or exogenous ketones while fasting. I've tried both and haven't seen any effects on weight loss. They can be very useful to people with onset of dementia or elderly people how want to prevent dementia. But if one wants to lose weight endogenous ketones that produced while fasting is a way to go.

    How can you be in ketosis is you're eating carbs???

    • @LauraB.335
      @LauraB.335 2 месяца назад

      People who are metabolically healthy have an easier time getting into ketosis when they fast. And, especially since she started with keto, it helped train her body to be in ketosis and to become metabolically flexible. Not everyone can do this. Although, it would be interesting to know if she’s in ketosis consistently now.

    Do I understand correctly? At the 29:31 minute mark, a low-calorie diet prevents ability to burn fat stores?

    • @LauraB.335
      @LauraB.335 2 месяца назад

      What prevents the ability to burn fat is high insulin, and a low-calorie diet, especially if you’re eating often, does nothing to lower insulin. But a low-calorie diet can eventually help someone lose body fat, as most of us have experienced. Then, when you go back to eating normal amounts, which is inevitable, because we can’t consistently eat fewer calories if we aren’t tapping into fat our body fat stores or we starve, then we quickly gain the weight back.

    I am still trying to figure out how to become fat adapted. I followed the fast like a girl and it’s a hot mess. I was doing fine eating plant based and figure I will try the 3day reset. Started having panic attacks all over again. I am trying to find my fasting sweet spot. I have heard you say you’ve yo yo dieted and I have as well, but am I just that too far gone?!! I just don’t get why it’s not working for me too.

    • @Capt.Tony00
      @Capt.Tony00 4 месяца назад

      It’s hard to go from plant based to fat adapted. You can try bulletproof coffee or just MCT oil. But if you’re having anxiety it’s probably because your body thinks you’re starving and cortisol goes up to put you in fight or flight mode. I started with adding more protein and good fats and tried to wait a couple hours before eating in the morning and not eat a couple hours before bed. Then I reduced carbs even more( gluten intolerant) and became keto and now I am trying carnivore for 30 days with intermittent fasting. I am so mellow and relaxed and feel fil and satisfied all day. No cravings and no anxiety but it’s been a long journey to get here. I failed many times before I was successful.

    • @LauraB.335
      @LauraB.335 2 месяца назад

      You may want to look up plant based keto to see how to do it. It’s much easier to do keto when eating animal protein and fats. Not to mention, animal fat is important for hormonal, skin, cellular, brain, and mental health.
      In any event, you are not too far gone. Start where you’re at. What is your eating window right now? Shorten it by 2-3 hours for a week, then you can go shorter and shorter, until you get to a 20-23 hour fast. Then you can start skipping a day, etc
      When I first started fasting, I truly believed I was gonna die or something really bad was gonna happen if I didn’t eat. So, if you’re having those types of thoughts, that could definitely lead to panic attacks. Start slowly and go from there. Many have said it: you have to build up your fasting muscle.

    It is confusing - one says how fasting is bad for female hormones which will lead to taking synthetic ones (I believe Gin is on HRT) the others- high fat carnivore is our diet to heal hormones and to feel our best 😭😬🤓

    • @Christy-Salt
      @Christy-Salt 8 месяцев назад

      Gin said she was on HRT. I’m not sure she is currently.

      Many, many women have fasted and not all of them are on HRT. I am one of them. I have done intermittent fasting every day for years. I also do multi-day fasts and have no problem with my hormones. In fact, when I first started experiencing hot flashes, I lowered carb, increased fat, and fasted and they went away within days. I have never been on HRT and my opinion is they’re just one more thing the pharmaceutical companies want us to buy so they can make more money.
      I do think high fat is important, regardless of whether I eat carnivore or not. I have eaten keto and carnivore and I seem to do better on keto, as for me, variety is important. I like guacamole and onions (and sour cream and cheese) with my ribeyes. But, then there are days when I will eat carnivore.
      Megan Ramos (and Dr. Fung) have far more experience with fasting than say Dr. Elizabeth Bright, who warns against fasting. Megan has said that as women hit menopause, they can fast more like men in that they can fast longer and more often.

    I challenge anyone to do this without caffeine. Substituting caffeine, a horrible destructive drug, for food is not healthy. You’ll end up with adrenal fatigue sooner or later and let me tell ya, adrenal fatigue is hell. Your life as you know it is over for the years that it takes to heal. Over the top fasting (every day) stresses your body; dumping caffeine into your body stresses it even more. The adrenals can’t take that for years on end. Be very, very careful that you don’t end up like me.

    I eat my first nutritious meal between 11/1 then my second between 3/5 and that’s it!.. Just plain water or black coffee in my fasting window. I’ve cut out all ultra processed foods and no longer eat refined sugar.
    The problem I see with people trying to eat healthy is they’re always subconsciously still looking for that little cheat/treat!..
    The questions I constantly see asked are…. Can we eat this? or can we drink this?.. Well I say to people, stick to the guidelines of fasting, for example my nutrition plan and you’ll feel amazing, and will be as healthy as you possibly can!.. 💙👍🏼

    • @Mindsetchangeuk

      Brilliant point. I would add to that to work with the subconscious part that wants the cheat treat. Battling parts of us tends to create resistance and more of that behaviour and yet with some guidance that part can be upgraded. Thank you for your comment and it’s great to see what you are doing to stay healthy ❤️

      I enjoy the freedom of sometimes just eating what I want. I feel I can keep foods cleaner most of the time but I also just don’t want to be too restrictive. And I like Gin because she understands we can’t all put the work in to change everything about what we are eating. We can easily do the fasting part. The eating part cannot be stressful for me or I will fail. That’s just me.

      Yes! If I can do the clean fast, I just refuse to be stressed at mealtime. I can’t sustain that. I can happily eat better choices when they are available. But if I need to eat what’s there, I will
