two things: the coldest I'd ever been in my life were in Januarys, the start of the "spring" semesters there, and in 1975, after my last soccer game there in Kidd Brewer stadium, the assistant coach told me to go stand in the middle of the field and look around, and take in the beauty, because I'd never play there again- glad I did, and remember it to this day

If you visit Boone, you may want to drive to Blowing Rock (a neighboring town) about 8 miles from Boone. Nice historic downtown area with many restaurants and shops.
