Great video to explain that option! I have an X758 with a mulch control kit and absolutely love it! I will never have another mower without it. My yard looks 10 times better and I don't have grass blowing all over me and the machine which definitely helps with my allergies. An option well worth the money IMO.

I think the mulch leaves grass with improved appearance as there are no clippings left on top of the grass. Just bought S240 with mulch kit.

This is the case as long as it is maintained and mowed often. Thanks for watching!

Maybe JD should design some way to stop all the grass clipping from being collected on mower deck from tires as you cut your lawn.

My mulch on demand deck has bad blowout from the front so your just getting clippings blown up and onto it anyway.

I have a John Deere X series 4x4 tractor that does the same darn thing. They "had" flimsy plastic covers over the two outside blade hubs/spindles. They were useless and just collected grass under them heating up the spindles, etc. while mowing. I removed those and even though grass still collects on the top of the deck I can just use my leaf blower to blow off the excess when I am done mowing.
Maybe it is a John Deere "design" to wear out the spindles so you have to replace them every couple of years.🥲

I think this is the case with all brands of mowers. Maybe it is in the works. Thanks for watching!

Brent, very nice property, ya all in Oklahoma or Texas? Boy what a beautiful machine, I just got a Z345R, maybe I should of got a Z530M to get a ROPS! LOL! BTW, Brent does John Deere sell a polisher for my D130 lawn tractor to keep it shined up? Thanks again for the great content, Larry and you rock! Best wishes from Southeastern Colorado!

Is it leaving a windrow on the mulch setting? I'd like to see it mulch and disperse tall fescue on 4" but can't seem to find a video

I don’t recommend you the John Deere mulch and demand as you can see in the video at 14:14 it’s leaving a row of grass with the side discharge closed

A little help please. I am looking to buy new riding mower. Power steering a plus, 2+ acres of semi rough ground. Prefer 42” or bigger. I want to buy once and have it last 20 years. Your
    recommendation please.

Don't most mulching mowers have special designed mulching blades? The ones on this mower look like regular mowing blades.

    • @WesternEquipment
      @WesternEquipment  2 года назад +2

Yes, there are a difference in mulching and side discharge blades. Mulching blades have a longer cutting surface to cut the grass up finer.

Bought the 10704 mulch kit that is all plastic. First mow and a small rock cracked the chute blocker. $250 down the drain not what i expect from John Deere.
What was wrong with the old mulch kit BM24794 that was all metal?

The birds take my clippings away, by 2 weeks it is mostly gone. They use it for their nests.
With this system it must depend on how low you have your deck to the ground. It is only a matter of understanding you are putting more strain on your components as volume of clippings are basically trapped being pulverized.
I will probably pass on this option, fly and be free.
