I was involved in early 1970’s when Germany rounded up Turkish workers who overstayed their welcome as labourers rebuilding Germany after WW2. They were deported back to Turkey, no ifs no buts and no European Courts, picked up, no identification papers, transported to airfields and gone. That’s the way to do it.

I was involved in early 1970’s when Germany rounded up Turkish workers who overstayed their welcome as labourers rebuilding Germany after WW2. They were deported back to Turkey, no ifs no buts and no European Courts, picked up, no identification papers, transported to airfields and gone. That’s the way to do it.

I don't see how Europe didn't see this coming from the beginning! Did no one understand these cultures were going to clash and not fit together? It was plain to me and I told my German friends I thought this whole idea was crazy, but, at the time, they told me I was too harsh and I had wrong thinking. Now I see the mess has blossomed into a catastrophe and I see all the "hand wringing" that shows how cowardly the leadership is.
