    Good review, very informative.
On centrefire - new firearm shooters are often surprised that the like-for-like cost is actually very similar to air guns (ammunition apart of course). I did 1000 yard target rifle about 20 years ago and bought an accurate and perfectly serviceable second-hand rifle chambered in 7.62 NATO (great for mil surplus ammo) for three hundred quid.
The longer you have been a shooter (50+ years for me), the more likely you are to appreciate a quality gun. None of us live forever so if you can afford a nice one just buy and enjoy.
One quote I frequently hear is that guns are like motorcycles - the correct number to own is the number you have plus one...

    Hello My friend,
Thank you for your time and for doing your reviews. I've always liked the Walthur RM8.
To me, I think it's a great looking air rifle. I have a soft spot for the cocking lever, as it seems very notchy, and reminds me of the Theoben Rapids. I loved the look of those when they first came out.
For a pcp air rifle to hit a five pence at fifty yards is amazing.
For four hundred and fifty pounds!
It looks like a great air rifle for the money, peanuts, I think it's a great buy.
Dave Ratz, is on Utube. He reviewed a Walthur RM 8. He also said, be careful when your cocking the rifle, as the pellet probe catches and bends the foils on the insides of the magazine hay/ wire.

      @foggy342  6 месяцев назад +1

@@ianwoods1384 no worries bud, I'm glad you got something out of the video 👍 the cocking bolt feels a lot better without the magazine, I'll definitely just use a single shot loader in the future. It's an ageing design now but if they made a MK2 with a side lever then it'd be one of the best cheaper end pcp's out there still. I didn't mind the bolt myself until I got the other 2 rifles but it definitely gets shown up now in the cocking cycle.

PCP air rifles are pretty accurate due to zero recoil. But you get what you pay for most of the time.
Cheap air rifles are not as durable if you’re shooting 500-1000 pellets a week they’ll break fairly quickly.
Also the action on a cheap rifle will not be very slick when cocking and plastic magazines will fail overtime.
More expensive guns will be more durable have nice slick action and nice trigger setups out of the box.
Some guns in my experience like the vixen and weihruach will shoot really well out of the box.
Some other manufacturers from Czech and Sweden YMMV either being really nicely made but not accurate or lots of tuning and not really nice to shoot.
Then there’s other high end manufacturers with electronics that can play up or magazines with fragile springs and pins that break.
And finally there’s a manufacturer with really accurate, well made guns that will charge you extra for shooting left handed.
As for picatinny rails avoid like the plague they introduce inaccuracy because unless you get proper picatinny mounts (good luck with that) what you’re actually getting is weaver mounts described as weaver/picatinny which are smaller which isn’t a snug fit. Then there’s the terrible idea of buying a dovetail to picatinny adapter so you’re adding another layer of inaccuracy to your setup and those adapters are never straight when you’ve clamped them on and nipped up all the grub screws which will fall out overtime and don’t think about reaching for the loc-tight you’ll regret it 😂

@@sid35gb absolutely spot on with everything you said there mate 💪💪 I'm more of a firearms guy than airguns ( although airguns seems to be used more at the minute )
I like the ease of a picatinny or weaver mount as I swap scopes a lot because of the RUclips channel and having to record content etc.
And most of my firearms have picatinny as well, and yep the rail converters are rubbish !!!

Vixen- negatives: plastic stock is a complete hinderance and only there for cosmetics, this is a big problems for adding gear to gun.
Seems to have poi shift unless u sort plastic handguard or add piccatiny rail under.
    No sling points
I think it should of had a bottle around 350cc instead of 250. A better butt stock- its good but its a weird cheek to butstock feel.
The hand grip is average which is a plus but for 1300 i think it needed to fatter and comfier to carry around.
Ability to adjust power/efficiency is not easy (but can be a positive as theres less o rings etc.
Pros- everything else… after u sort plastic rail (even though you shouldnt have to) its a absolute bargin, high end feel, amazing accuracy. Well built from 1 bit of ally. Looks the part.
Vercict- if you were to replace plastic rail for ally and spend sometime upgrading bottle from 250 to 350-480 with a new butt stock i dont think youd ever really have to get another air rifle.
