97K AND THERMNIGHT 225r RAT SESSION
uk.dntoptics.com/azfy8p
In this video i do some more rat control with my hw97k springer, i use the recoil activated record function as its perfect for a springer or rifle that has some recoil, and I also used a 940 ir illuminator as its not as visible to the quarry.

18:30 you have to make sure your weight fps and coefficient of drag is correct. my barra 250z with proper data entered the ballistic calculator is near dead on from 20-150 yards with slugs. i'm still trying to find the most accurate slug combo and fps speed but testing that and my .22lr as long as i've had the proper data in i've gotten great results i haven't tried any of my bigger arms. 10 yards with that scope seems super close.
@potterportraits the reason I tested it so close is because most uk pest controllers need to be that close sometimes for rat's. If I only shot rabbits or foxes with it on a rimfire centerfire then It work just fine mate. I was trying to give the uk guys some information that no other uk youtubers have done 🙂
@foggy342 heard. I forgot yall are limited on fpe over there and need to be close for pesting.
Nice jop mate! And how your scope is holding on whit the springer action? I am looking olso for a night visoin scope for my springer thats keep one a few years. Grtz from belgium
@teamchampionfeed I'm glad you liked the video buddy, I've never had a problem with any of my digital scopes on a springer 🙂🙂
@@foggy342 thank you for your response. I also do pest control myself. a lot with the pcp. but the jumper remains somewhat nostalgic. we all grew up with it. I still have an old TX200 that I shoot a lot with, maybe I should also look into getting a new springer. it makes work a lot more fun. continue your videos on RUclips. you have a new follower gtrz from belgium
You can run but you can't hide 😂😂😂 I love it ❤
@@rick8022 thermal is brilliant Rick, you spot loads more.
Where did you get the fitting for your stock to fit the tripod ?
@@alland1241 a generic picatinny rail from Ebay for £6
@@foggy342 Thank you
Get one that has a slight radius on the base as it'll sit nicer under a rifle stock.
I would love one, but the wife wouldn't love me😅
@crazycressy7986 the peace and quiet would be nice if she left you though 🤣🤣
@foggy342 and lots more rifles lol
Great video pal 👍
@airhunteruk thank you pal !!
Great video,i was pondering about getting one of those but the 5x base mag has put me off i have two dnts 3-12 and a 5-20,it is shit how the 5-20 can only lrf down to 10 mtrs,think i will be better off spending money on a better thermal spotter
@madness6780 I think the same mate, it's a great scope but it's not best suited to what most uk airgun lads do which is rat shooting.
Glad you've come round a little bit to the Thermnight. I have the 225r and the 635r. At first I wasn't quite sure if it would be worth having an optical and thermal sight however, I went rabbit hunting with a 17hmr using the basic 225r shooting out to 100 yards and further and was really surprised how the very basic thermal was finding rabbits in the hedges even though I couldn't see them with the night vision lens. As long as people understand that (specifically the 225r) the thermal is mainly designed as a spotter and not an identifier the Thermnight works really well. It's one of those items that you need to try to fully understand the benefits. For me I really enjoy the ballistic calculator functions of the Zulus and Thermnights and not to forget their compactness. That's why I enjoy using them even before DNT started supported me on my own channel.
@lancsvermincontrol it blew me away with it's spotting capability, I don't know if you watched my first video about it, but it fell short on a few area's for me mate. I'm still on the fence about actually buying it, but if I do I think that'll it be a spotter on a lanyard. I'll do a few more videos with it before I decide, but thanks for the great comment and I appreciate it buddy 👍
You have to turn off recoil record for it to record longer than 10 seconds, the lrf doesn't work under 5m this is probably why you re getting false aim point in close
@rasmo243 RAV was off buddy, and dnt confirmed the lrf and ballistic calculator won't work together under 10 yards. I've since used the RAV on a springer and it works great, 10 seconds before the shot and 10 seconds after the shot 🙂
AGT is very much high end and great video
@airheadguns thank you mate.
My budget Hatsan 95 22 caliber is a great hunter!😃👍 Ps, great video!
@springpistonriflefeverlone9611 thank you bud
Hi Church Myatt here, I am in the UK, Stoke on Trent 👍, In event of anymore competitions, Congratulations to the winner 😊
Well done Mike 👏
Congratulations Mike, a nice little pinker there mate.
Congrats to winner 🏆
Congratulations to the winner and thanks for the competition!
Nice one
i had a look at one of these the other night, i thought the nv was about the same as my pard008 but may have needed setting up. i also found the focusing was a bit if a faff.
It has its place david, unfortunately it's not one I'd want tbh.
That said I would like the option of thermal scope at times, if only the 335 was cheaper.
@airvermin2226 it definitely helps, I went out last night on the rats with my springer and just had the thermnight round my neck as a spotter and it was such a help.
Un bonjour de France Merci pour vos vidéos. Dans celle ci, beaucoup d'humour , merci beaucoup
Thank you 🙂
Your height over bore on that thing is at least 4 inches plus. mine is 3.75 and its alot lower than that yours might be 4.5-5 inches you need to make sure you measure it precisely with calipers to the top lens and put the data into the ballistic calc.... you obviously have it set to the wrong number... 18:00
@Tyrant_Popper it's set correctly bud, it's not my first digital scope with ballistic calculator. Dnt admitted to me after they saw this video that the ballistic calculator and range finder won't work within 10 yards. I have other scopes that are perfect from 5 yards, it's definitely the scope at fault here bud.
Sadly I still use my old 50$ air rifle 🥺 how I wish to get this one
Sorry buddy, uk only unfortunately.
It's not how cheap or how powerful the rifle is, it's entirely about being confident that the pellet is going to hit where you're pointing it. I know an old boy (sadly he no longer shoots but he is 80+) who used to use an old (ca 1975) Webley .22 with iron sights and he could drop a rat at forty yards, every single shot dropped his quarry. I have a tuned HW97 with an MTC Viper Pro 10x44 on it and this guy outshot me every day. His secret was thousands of hours shooting paper, every chance he got he'd be plinking. Practise, practise, practise.
Yep all you had was springers back in the day plenty good enough for me if you did your part.... and you you had to use a lamp!!
don't think dnt will fire you but the rats might:)
Sound video,the triggers on budget springers always seems to be pretty crap but for the money you cant complain keep em vids comming
@madness6780 thank you pal 👍
Great vid love the Sean bean 🫘 add ins 😂😂😂
@deanobenito thank you pal 🙂🙂
You got any more springers on your list to get ? the new lightning clx looks interesting
Well tbh mate, my first springer when I got back into it was the lightning grt and it was rubbish, I bought it new and traded it in for my second hand 97k. I'd imagine the clx version is the same but a different stock. I think I'll get another springer soon though buddy.
I've moved to S Wales, Loving Your Vids. Keep up the F,ing. It makes feel like I'm back in Yorkshire.
I should probably tone it down a bit really 😅
@@foggy342 Don't you even think about it. Yorkshire Lads F'n'Gef at everything. Stay true mate.
@@mattclegg2895 😆
It’s quite easy to improve the trigger.
I'd imagine it is mate, and if it was done then it'd make a massive difference.
Wait till I get the rile out ur fucked. love it from a Yorkshire Lad
Good for the price but the Zulus has a much better picture in day time mode the thermnight is like the pard why they have reduced the clarity is mind boggling put me off getting one al wait till they upgrade it
@georgeg8106 there are plenty of other scopes I'd use before picking this one mate.
Ratting not hunting..30yrd be nice
@Guns2411 yeah, fair point. This isn't much good after 15 yards unfortunately mate.
@foggy342 honest is good 👍 keep it coming 👍
Had a couple of 90ks heavy but get the right pellet , my 177 loved the flat H&N target
@TimothyChapman-e5y it's a nice rifle, I'm enjoying to springers more than pcp again now so it'll get more use.
Very kind of you ,if i do win ,it will go to my great nephew and will be his first air rifle when he's 10 years old 😊
@crazycressy7986 happy day's pal, drop me an email to enter it 👍
WYPC. Good video and shooting. Also, nice giveaway. Thanks for sharing and take care.
A nice little backyard 15-20 metre pinker, great for a child too.
looks a good close range rat/pest zapper. would be ideal to keep under seat of van for bit of dinner time fun when working @ farm.
It's okay up to 15 yards i think Steve 🙂
Need you crono it, just out of curiosity
It's about 10.5
Those rats at the start had some nads on them, proper brave balls lol
It's not the most accurate of rifles bonner, I missed a few like. Those first few were probably laughing at me !!!!
@foggy342 can you find a meme of a rat or rabbit flipping you the finger???
Nice to see something different..when it comes to ethics I think accuracy is more of a factor than price and if you're accurate happy days..I won't enter but I hope it goes to someone who needs a leg up to help them start off👍👍
shaun bean lamo. what a bastard. nice one mate.
Thanks pal 👍
Hatsan Striker 900X yep the trigger is a desired taste there is an adjustment screw at the far back to lighten the trigger but the bolt isn’t usually long enough to make much of a difference so a replacement longer bolt is needed if it’s the same as the 1000X
Enjoyed that Proves you can hunt with a cheap rifle Agreed the triggers are bad and quite complicated to work on but as a starter gun what more do you need Thanks Liam Great vid 👍👍
Thanks david 🙂🙂
Yes is the answer . as long as your within the right range I’ve done it with my asi accumax taking rats and squirrels did it with my express xp as well practice with the gun and be realistic about the capabilities 👍
Owned one these a couple of years ago, very heavy , go for hw 97.
@rolandrimann8788 I prefer my 97k as well mate, it likes the tripod a lot more than the 90k and can be left clamped in while I cock it.
Well will look forward to it, haven't got a spinger lol , so be nice to get back where it started , wink wink lol
