The trick to handling a table with 10 experienced players is that you basically don't. There was a point where the only 2 words Matt said were "yes" and "yes" for like 10 minutes lol
To be fair, he's expressed how much he loves those episodes where the table takes over and he gets to just watch. I wouldn't like it for more than an episode though and certainly not in combat.
@parodycalfilms yep, I've heard him say that a couple of times, and whenever there's a time frame of long player only RP I remember him bringing it up. Overall I think it's really cool that the players can be so invested and involved in the story that it's possible for a DM to go on auto pilot
I think a ten person table would only be possible with such experienced players since they pretty much just spent the whole time roleplaying and Matt could just sit back and watch.
Fun fact, this episode is tied with 1x114 "Vecna, the Ascended" for most player characters in a single episode. That episode however didn't have all the players at the table at the same time, as Ashley was Skype-ing in and Mary and Will left before Joe joined. So this is the first episode to have 10 players at the table at once.

@@transientanus lol, dang let me take these things off. alright this is coming from someone who is frequently rules lawyering with friends about actual plays when I say the things you're hung up on are incredibly trivial. what so she didn't realize matt would enforce the material component for summon greater demon, who cares? she still knew the spell well enough to make saves for the demon (even purposefully choosing a demon with low charisma for that reason). and summon greater is a freaking essay of a spell. completely forget how she may have misunderstood teleportation circle but it was a brand new spell for a character that was going to be gone in a session so i dont blame her for not knowing it. and please you gotta tell me what is wrong with asking the dm if you can cast a spell you just acquired? what is your hang up with that? maybe she made a mistake or two, but she was ready with her turn every time and read through her spells. thats more than i can say for like 90% of players at my tables and players i see in actual plays. i dont say that with hate for those players, thats just the game. but anyway thanks for the fashion advice, now maybe you can take your hater glasses off.
Props to Christian and Aabria. The teleport biff making F.R.I.D.A. speak only Spanish and needing a hard reset from Deanna is legit one of the funniest bits I've ever heard.
I loved how later when she wanted to use the power she gets from him, Dawnfather is like "I dunno, am I worth saving now?" Dude is the Sun, basically, one chapel in one town and people forget without him there's darkness. No respect I tells ya.
Kinda why I dont like her. Essentially you have this guy who brought her back to live, gave her badass powers to protect the friends she found in the new live, and because some vague accusations without context she basicly says: "Maybe you should die" And THEN she is mad that he didnt use his power for her goals first try.
I love that Orym asked Deanna, not Prism, to scry with the seed fragments, since it was Aabria who gave Liam the seed 2 years ago in Exu prime. And she gave it back after mending it. A full circle
Wait wait wait.... you are telling me that EXU was 2 years ago? No... this can't be... Edit: Oh bloody hell, it is... when was the first C3 episode? Edit 2: A year and a something... damn...
Yo! I thought the same thing, and the reason they don't want anyone knowing where they are is because they have that super sphere from Marisha's character.
Laura Bailey everybody - cant roll low for an entire campaign on d100 to get divine intervention and rolls low b2b to get psychic danage trying to teleport
@@MorinehtarTheBlue (10:07) He definitely *literally* said Force. He says Psychic when it's a Sending spell. Either way, the irony of you ranting about how miscorrecting people is bad whilst miscorrecting people is funny asf.
@@blazypika2It gives him an extra job of reigning them in, but at the same time he could speak less because the story just writes itself when you have several chaos goblins on a table. It's just extra Pros and Cons.
@@Aurora_LightbringerI agree, the game I dm is mostly me push the story forward, since a few of them are new players, and two veterans decide to not be the driving, since they also dm their own game that I also play in.
I loved watching her face journey throughout that, the little sassy “oh” I’m so excited for all the new intraparty tension to come with all these new friendships
Props to the whole cast for allowing dialogue to take place and the story to progress without devolving into chaos when there were *that many* people around the table.
I did love there being a little chaos for the first part of the reunion though because EXACTLY how a reunion would feel amongst friends 😂 To your point though, it probably helps that (besides being professionals) they're fans of their own story too and they get caught up listening to each other talk just like the rest of us. This is like, the perfect episode for Ashley, she loves watching her friends talk! Haha
Seriously, but its to be expected cause they all know this is a show as well as dnd. At a house game i couldnt imagine having to handle more then 6. Cause even with 6 itll sometimes devolve into chaos and theyll start to interrupt you or get distracted as you are trying to progress the story or describe something.
So as I was watching this my roommate came in and started venting because she had a hard day at work. I put the TV on mute but kept the episode running. During the conversation I glanced at the TV and immediately knew the Matt was voicing Pretty just by his facial expressions
you can really tell that they didnt watch each others episodes on different occasions. the most interesting one is lauras reaction to emily, talking bluntly about loutnas meltdown on bor'dor.
I need someone to make fan art of Orym getting enlarged. After 63 episodes of stating that he is a tiny guy Ormy getting enlarged into a 6ft person is the funniest, coolest shit ever I love Emily.
matt wasnt wearing his waistcoat vest this session because he knew he had to fight without limiters when dealing with 10 players probably broke the floor like rock lee when he took it off.
I am glad it is confirmed Keyleth is safe and back with the Ashari. Poor Kiki got uncureable wounds and suffers from the trauma of losing Vax again, but at least she is home. Too bad the group is not attached to Caleb or Beau so no one thought to scry on them but I think they should be safe too.
The next M9 reuinion live-show seems to be set after the beginning of the solstice (so around the time of the last few c3 episodes). And we know from the poster that Liam and Marisha are back as Caleb and Beau. They are either safe by now or we'll see the Nein come and rescue them. I also doubt Vax is actually lost-lost. For now at least. What Ludinus pulled reeks of minimus containment. And that can be undone with dispel magic at an appropriate level.
Am I the only one thinking the others she had to speak with might include a Goliath barbarian and a Gnome bard? Ok, asking for Vox Machina might be too much, LoL.
3:58:24 isn't is crazy the things we say to our friends and what it can be later. Finding out about Sam just yesterday and then listening to this episode today I'm just so glad he's alive and okay and able to keep making us all smile.❤
Mine too by far. Her knowledge of the game allows her to get insanely creative and she purposefully wanted to give the party something they lacked so she tailored a character around that.
Laura's mom vibe during that series made me laugh because it's probably a dynamic between her and Sam as friends. Every close group of friends like that needs the team mom.
Emily is SUCH a phenomenal actor haha. I died at her exchange with Sam "Folio filcher, parchment pilferer, literary larcenist, literary ARSONIST. We gotta steal you a thesaurus baby girl..." I freaking love this group
I really think the integrated in frida's name is representative of how how he quicklyblearns and takes traits from others and environments, like telepathy from imogen, the cleric level from deanna, etc. I think he is truly the chameleon robot built to adapt
I honestly hope Laudna keeps it a secret from Imogen. I feel like it would add very delicious tensions to the group and also can increase the relationships between her and Orym/Ashton if they kept it secret
How about: The Search for Dariax? Basically, the idea would be that Prizm, Deanna, and FRIDA have to go searching for Dorian and Dariax, and things are not at all kopascetic when they catch up to Dorian and Dariax. And because Matt plays Dariax, they could bring back Brennan Lee Mulligan from Dimension 20 as the DM for that one-shot.
I feel like FRIDA and Imogen’s friendship doesn’t get enough credit. I don’t even know what words would best describe them, but I really loved their little moments. I know everyone has been trying to reassure Imogen and support her in any way they can, but something about FRIDA made it feel like Imogen actually believed it, that she’s not the villain in this story. Gonna miss these guests
They're like close siblings somehow. My favorite of their scenes was the one out by the entrance of the cave near Uthodurn. When he gave her a pep talk and played a recording of her laughter. Something about that moment felt beautiful, magical, and deeply human to me.
I love how into D&D Travis gets. He is the CEO if this company and is still so much of a nerd, he rapid fires "What do you mean?" because he has to wait through break to find out what is happening...
"We're turning this group of pigeons into a bucket of chicken." Thank you, Aabriya, I have no idea what that could possibly mean, but it will live in my head rent free for the rest of my life. :D Also Marisha just oozing delight into "I sit right next to him! :D"
Oh, so good - it's always hilarious watching groups try to 'catch each other up' on everything that went on, and there was so much good in this one. Gods bless Matt for seating Emily and Sam next to each other, for seating Christian and Liam next to each other... it'll be really interesting to see how everything shakes out in the coming arc. Matt keeps ratcheting up the stakes, and I am here for it.
I've not watched this episode yet but I'm calling it, either FCG or Chetney are gonna say "Man, we had a rough time over in Uthadurn, I can't IMAGINE you had a worse time then us." to the other group.
Army brat here. Right in the feels. I’ve lived in many places. I loved them all. None of them were ever home. Home is the people in my life. I love them all. Always have. Always will. And even they are temporary housing. Grab your ketchup and crunch away my friends.
Jeez....Caught around the 3:58:30 mark while FCG is smoking a cigarette, Chetney mentions FCG getting tongue cancer, and just....what are the ODDS of that?? So glad Sam is okay and back though.
This is honestly one of my favourite episodes of the whole campaign, just chaos and joy the whole way through, from the moment they all reunited I had a big smile on my face all the way through to the end
I was shocked to see Matt not wearing a vest. I realize now the amount of stress he was under trying to keep any amount of control. Control he lost right around BundtGate. Thank you for your intuition, Matt! 😂😂
Between 2:51:48 and 2:53:05, Aabria texts Matt about her plan of having Deanna communicate with the Dawn Father, to which, Matt quietly acknowledges. Very cool to see their DM-expert player dynamic!
@@ACinemafanatic I mean, they have reasons. We. We have reasons. Tons of them. Talk about them now and then. If you want to know why, all you need to do is read the comments.

Such great organic dialogue:

Aren't they all...
None of them missed a beat.
I still can't believe they were able to fit all of those people at the table

It's a big enough table, don't worry
Whenever Sam does his ad bit right behind Matt and he's stuck being a floating head of discontent its so funny
Know I'm late on this but I really want to make a magic item or a monster/creature called 'floating head of discontent' now XD

Props to Christian and Aabria. The teleport biff making F.R.I.D.A. speak only Spanish and needing a hard reset from Deanna is legit one of the funniest bits I've ever heard.
Late to this, but it's basically like toy story 3 lol
"I might be confusing battle mechanics for friendship."
I love Emily
"Are you worth saving?" Aabria coming in with the "You need me more than I need you" energy holy shit this is epic.
As someone who's starting to take the CR world semi-seriously the sacrilegious nature of comparing Pelor to Ukotoa is very funny to me. Hell yeah!

@@misticsword7561 I don't think the Dawn father is literally the Sun or God of the sun, its just how his power manifests. As far as I'm aware
Kinda why I dont like her. Essentially you have this guy who brought her back to live, gave her badass powers to protect the friends she found in the new live, and because some vague accusations without context she basicly says: "Maybe you should die"
And THEN she is mad that he didnt use his power for her goals first try.
I love that Orym asked Deanna, not Prism, to scry with the seed fragments, since it was Aabria who gave Liam the seed 2 years ago in Exu prime. And she gave it back after mending it. A full circle

Props to the whole cast for allowing dialogue to take place and the story to progress without devolving into chaos when there were *that many* people around the table.
I did love there being a little chaos for the first part of the reunion though because EXACTLY how a reunion would feel amongst friends 😂
To your point though, it probably helps that (besides being professionals) they're fans of their own story too and they get caught up listening to each other talk just like the rest of us. This is like, the perfect episode for Ashley, she loves watching her friends talk! Haha
Seriously, but its to be expected cause they all know this is a show as well as dnd. At a house game i couldnt imagine having to handle more then 6.
