Hey #PDArmy, do you like off-roading? Tell us below, and give the video a thumbs up if it helped you!
The app Shumi refers to is at greatindiantrail.com
'traction is inconsistent' is one the most important things I have learnt during my riding (and hiking!) so far.
Although I haven't ridden much off-road or done any dedicated off-road rides, one thing that has helped me is that in case there is a seemingly difficult section, walk the doubtful section first and then ride the bike through it, especially when I ride solo. It has helped me tackle relatively tricky patches that have been a part of the rides.
@@rohanrayakar2257 Thats the safest way to play it, especially solo!
P>>limpp>pppppppppppp>pppppppppppppppp>
@@rohanrayakar2257 absolutely helps !!
The "you're sitting and watching this while we went off road" did hurt😂😂
Ahahaha!
These episodes feels like Mann ki baat by shumi
But it's actual good content and we can interact with him.
@@chiefrey3623 That's the best part of it.
These series are nice
i agree with u Prathamesh
But this shumi has learnt from his experience and then he convey to others!! And also he reads comments and clears any kinda doubt you ask about his podcast!!
This is too damn good.
Like hearing a PhD, talk shop.
Here on I will only refer to you as
Dr Schumar.
You're a patient (one), then!
The entire video was beautiful. Yet the message In the END is the most power for off road or trail riding. When our Indian heros hit the Dakar, their winning and positions is so justified with the fatal falls they carry the entire career including the races they participate... Yet when it comes to the normals of exploring trails the idea is to get to point A and point B and back in the most safest way possible. And learning to say NO is things look skim without putting up as a challenge
Podcasts from Shumi are hands down some of the best videos of PowerDrift!
Cheers! Thanks for listening!
Yet again, @Shumi is here to talk sense to us 😺🤙🏻
You! 😀
You must try going off-road with NS200, just remove the rear mudguard and let NS do it's thing. I tried it and I enjoyed it and now thinking of changing the tyres to Pirelli Scorpion.
Well, it's all about having fun! If you dig deep into the archives of online forums, you''ll see there are folks who have done world tours on supersports!
I too have done some soft and off roading on my NS200. Its a load of fun. I still have my stock MRFs which are decent all rounders.
@@powerdriftofficial yeah well that's true. It's all in the head.
@@calvinrohanraj8511 just amazing the way it handles the turf and that torque delivery at lower revs kind of makes it more fun.
Hahaha, I do the same one with mine sometimes! Though I prefer light trails since those hurt a lot less. 😝
Adventure bikes seem more practical than regular bikes, really hope it gets more popular in India.
Agreed!
Sumi you are awesome......
You way of explaination is top notch❤️
Sumi is best in PD
We love him too! :D
Thanks for listening!
May want to increase the gain on Shumi's mic, usually have higher volume on the videos.
There is a powerdrift training school???
Being subscribed for more than half a decade and didn't know about this!!!
As always Schumi...you are one of the best in your league
Just one bit of advice .. if you have a bike with low ground clearance then better be super careful while off road. Rather avoid going off road with low GC bikes.. its going to hurt your baby down there :-D.
I own a Z650 and am just happy to have fun with it on roads.
I love the way Shumi explains things!! It's a total paradox-- he can talk totally technical stuff but u still understand every word of it!!
Thanks PDArmy -- keep them coming
The success key in any job or skill is repetition , i firmly believe that if a person cannot ride slow that person is not a skilled rider , anybody can twist the throttle and ride fast , but even if u have a empty road or a highway the key to learn any skill is to have some self control. The bigger the skill u want to learn the more time it takes.
do a video about various trackdays in cities and how localites could get in them
Hai Shumi
Love PD content alot.
Just wanted to know more about that app which has covered 33k km of trail.
Can you tell exactly what is the name of that app and if it's available in Playstore and istore ?
Yes, trying to find it... Please share if you got the details.
Very well said as always. Enjoying is the very first step. I started trying off-roading on my FZ-16 and I loved it so much that I decided that one day when Himalayan build quality improves (was scared of chasis breaking news and cone set issues, then digged deep into that topic) I will own it. And voila! I own the first BS-6 Himalayan in my city. Bare minimum protective gears for me are an off road helmet, good boots, a CE level-2 jacket, gloves and knee gaurds.
Alright! I have to say.. this podcast was so informative & I could relate to the fears. I have been contemplating getting a used Xpulse to get going, but could never make up my mind. I think its important to speak to, or hear right people talk in the most simplistic manner, Like you said 3 simple things to begin with & we don't need to be a rockstar right off. Thank you for short crisp to the point video! Cheers
Thanks for listening!
Really a good educational Podcast. Learned to bike ride only recently ( I am 27) on a honda shine and I had to start it on an empty ground with a lot of dirt for it was the only place where I can do it safely. The ground was filled with a lot of undulations that the only way to do it comfortably was to stand on the footpegs and adjusting myself to whatever comes in the way or I will be getting a lot of impacts and I was quite surprised that I was able to use the same whenever I hit the speed breaker or any potholes on the road whereas other tarmac riders do weird things near dirt and speed breakers which results in skidding or falling. As shumi said everyone should know how to ride in the dirt for it may really help us when we have a really bad day on road.
You’re absolutely on point!
Dr Shumi (Motorcycle Specialist) 🏍🤘
Xpulse 200 is the King🤴 of off-road segment for cheaper price and amazing performance and reliability too.
Just today I was watching Abhinav Bhatt owning the trails @ Baba Lands on his Xpulse 227cc 71mm big bore with High lift cam, modified clutch, piggyback ECU, free flow exhaust from Quick Shifter Racing and full rally kit including Maxxis tyres and I was like..."Do I need a bike like this in my life?" 🤔 And just a few hours later this prep talk from Sumi now makes me think... "Am I going to get divorced? now that I am going to get another Bike 🥴😜🤫"
Once again an amazing video.
Wanted to point out - standing and riding not only increases our line of sight but also our knees help in absorbing shocks so that they don’t travel to our spine.
Hi Shumi, when I see now about off roading as adventure and people want to do it. I am like when I was studying in hometown, we used to go in our farms and fields on CD100ss, m80 and even splendor almost every day. And now it is like you need this and you need that😀😀 . It makes me wonder kids in 80s and 90s were toughest 👍👍 in their school uniforms😂😂😂.
Ahahahahahahaha!
Another great podcast! Made the transition to light off-roading & trail riding two years ago and it's a joy!
I agree with shumi even I try off road on my Jupiter and it's fun
Loads of info in just 14 minutes! Great podcast Shumi, wisdom 101. Keep em coming PD..
Thanks for listening!
Weight of the motorcycle is a major factor in offroading. Speeding in offroad not a task breaking and balancing is. Splendor, platina, deluxe motorcycle are better offroading machine then high capacity motorcycle exeption its not a motocross really or race, we have so many bikes in adventure segment wich is good for touring purpose. But offroading as a professional level we don't have enough choice to make in terms of performance Husqvarna , honda, Yamaha and ktm have purely meant for legal on road motorcycle for offroading but pricing is a big concern in our country . Xpulse and impulse are only the option himalyan to some extent.
Couldn't agree more with shumi, if you think you need a good offroad capable bike to go offroading , remember there is a guy who is doing offroading stuff and riding around the world on his Honda c90. I loved it so much that i have started to learn from trail and error to ride offroad and i post them on my channel too if u wanna check it out :)
Just got my KTM ADV 250 mostly for touring and was thinking exactly about THIS today morning ! There is a mind reader somewhere in the PD team 😮
Ahahahahahaha! Glad we timed it so right
Shumi: my motorcycling guiding light 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Man, I am new to motorcycling. Just this past week I too got this off road keera in my head and started looking for used XPulse and Himalayan. I thought that I need to be better at motorcycling as I have fallen quite a bit and maybe off roading a bike will teach me things better. And now Shumi says it too.
Great video Shumi and the PD team.
Recently watched 2 videos of pod cast and am really impressed with the way Shumi explains thinks. This man has more in his brains with regards to motorcycles and riding.
I’m glad you loved the Podcast! Thanks for listening!
@@shu_mar I went ahead and listened to another couple of podcasts as well. Just improve the volume if you are using the small mic.

Very well put !! No hip-hop music, no adjectives, pure content from a humane level.
Hi Shumi,
You guys have done a Nice podcast, I think you should have bought Indian off-road racers to make the podcast even more informative and motivating.
I started off road 15 years back on my dad’s LML Vespa to see good view points around my place.
Since that scooter had a very bad front brake I had to learn how to control/handle/stop the vehicle only with rear brake.
Now for me steering/stopping my bike off-road by locking the rear is like pretty easy.
Great idea! Thanks!
This is so much better than MANN KI BAAT
😂😂😂
underrated comment
Some brilliant insights. Off roading has taught me so much how to ride on the road. Lol offroading became such a part of my life that I felt scared and confused when i came back on the road after some fun.. 🤦🏻♂🤦🏻♂😁😁
Sometimes I just stand and ride my R3. Not ready for off-roading yet. Definitely in the future.
GRIT was the most valuable piece of info from this video for me.
i cant find it buddy on playstore ???
@@alivapi1994 the most important thing that i realised after searching for GRIT on playstore is that Shumi has never used GRIT 'cause it's not an app. Its a website that provides .KML and .GPX files. And loading these files on apps like G earth shows the trails.
@@abinthomas253 This is true. I’m still circling fields around my house learning. But the app confusion is because they were supposed to make an app that eve happened - they’re all volunteers and so money was short. But in any case, I use maps.me with their files to setup nav
Can you post the GRIT app link so we can check it
Sir i go for tail riding with a shine sp. Chassis is great for my skill level.
Why not! Be careful, ride slow, and it's okay if you can't go far. Slow and steady does it. You'll be there one day!
off roading is awesome provided you're not travelling to a remote area where any kind of help will be hard to get.
3:19 awesome !!! That is so so cool !
We need a more lengthy version.
Very well explained, also bit motivational . Superb 👍
I try offroading/ small trail riding on my honda hornet.
Being an xpulse owner it feels nice 😍❤️
Because everyday on Indian roads is an adventure
Most important take away for every non-off roader motorcyclists @12:03 ,that's possibly reason for 80% off guys who falls due to their own mistake.
Thankyou bai.
8:27 I used to race a R1 (ex-R1 racer) , I'm trying to learn Offroading, it's not about speed Offroading, it's more about skills.
FINALLY ANOTHER EPISODE!!❤️
11:09 i was a racer , never thought about offroading , soon, i did a offroad course , and now i know it's so much more fun , and physically it's a lot more tiring, not gonna lie.
Awesome
That's a really great one sir!
Its such a sweet and simple gyan .. like an elder bro talking. Thanks big bro!
Cheers!
Whatever you said is absolutely 💯 true...!

We do have a video on it. Check this out : ruclips.net/video/N5frwdbBD7g/видео.html
You spoke about your school. can you pls., share details about your school or share a link. Thanks
And thanks for very informative podcast. Unbiased :).
I’m only 5’8 would I struggle with the xpulse ??
Not if you learn to deal with tall bikes - it’s a skill. It can be learnt. Google!
Thank you for this fantastic video and million dollars suggestions. I have one question especially for Shumi, what kind of daily exercise you suggest as preparation for off-roading?
Just get fitter overall. You’ll need everything! 😂
Can we have a link to that app please...
Thank you
In himachal every road is offroad 😂😂😂 including national Highway 😅😅😅😅
Just brilliant...
Thank you!

great and a very interesting video!!
Thanks!
good stuff
Can we do loght off-roading on access 125? Is it possible.?
Of course! See my latest post at my Instagram - you’ll be surprised 😀
This idea that you don't need a specialist bike to do off roading, you can start with what you have splendors, pulsars etc. is the best approach. As u progress and get better at it, u can upgrade your bike.
Absolutely!
Thanks man lot of granular details for starters 👍👍👍
Glad we could help you Kiran!
Watching it while I only do offroading on my hero splendor.
I really appreciate this video! So well spoken and such clear communication. This channel is superb. Good job you guys and girls that make this content!
